You won't get much traffic until you've answered a few hundred questions, but the traffic you get will convert very well.

And how much does that come out to an hour? Is it really worth doing something that pays fifty cents an hour in the long run? Sure, you can hire somebody that lives in a grass hut to do the answering for you, but do you really want that guy representing you and your reputation?

Haven't had much success with it... maybe in the early days when it wasn't as commercially saturated it worked - but now, at least for me, it doesn't work that well as far as traffic goes.

        Hope this helps,

I hate it and don't use it, I'm just saying that you can get traffic from it...but article or video marketing will get you 10-50 times the traffic for the same time commitment.

      Sort of on topic...

I was having a problem with Camtasia and went round and round with their help desk to no avail.

My wife Googled the query and went to a YA page where the guy laid out the correct answer. I tried it and it worked perfectly.

I guess the moral to this story is to publish useful stuff on YA and actually help people.

      Who'd have thunk...

Yes, but did you buy his/her products then?

Actually, that is a very good and appropriate question.

          So here's the answer...

I had a need, he knew the solution.

I tried it, it worked as he said it would.

          End of story.

          Except for this...

I don't know who the person was, I have no idea if he had anything to sell, and I can't remember if he even had a way to further the relationship (list, et al).

So from a standpoint of marketing you could say he failed miserably. But from a standpoint of adding value to the experience he excelled tremendously.

So his Karma is increased, but his initial ability to purchase a trinket from our one-sided exchange was absent.

Yet I'm here singing his praises, so the balance sheet towards the greater good is improved and believe it or not, that actually counts for something.

Unless you believe you can literally "take it with you when you go".

          Because you can't.

That said, Yahoo answers can be a good resource to find the questions
people are searching for answers to. When you know the questions,
writing the articles gets a little simpler.

It's not worth it. I have spent so much time answering questions for the past two months . The answers I gave were relevant and informative but it's not worth at all. Especially the amount of time consumed figuring out the answers. I would rather spend time in other source of free traffic generation techniques.

I think you have to look at Yahoo Answers as a type of article marketing. If there is enough content, your answer will get indexed by Google. Therefore you could see a lot of traffic in the long run. You will see a short influx of traffic right after you answer a question, then it will die off. After a while the traffic will start to come back.

You are not answering questions for a short term audience. If you are, you are planning to fail. You need to make your answers SEO friendly as well as answering the asker's question.

It isn't the best way to get traffic, but it will work for some.

Hi - I used them a few times but quickly realized it is a waste of time. I came across another great site Welcome to Yedda. which allows you to put a link in your answer and upload a picture or video as well.

I've just started to use them, so I cannot comment on the amount or quality of traffic yet. One thing is for sure they rock in terms of getting backlinks. I spend about 15 minutes there, checked my emails and then decided to check my backlinks - all of the questions (about 3) I answered immediately showed up as backlinks to my site!

          That sounds interesting...
Dave Guindon was talking about it...

          Thanks

With my experience.. i would say it requires hell lot of efforts and time. If you devote the same time and efforts in some other medium.. you can get good returns.

Yahoo answers work for me in 2 ways. I get huge traffic from it. It helps me in my business alot and secondly i can cater some yahoo backlinks from it. Therefore i find it worthy to invest some time in it. Though i dont use it much because there are some other sources as well which are more productive than this.

    Thanks
