Easiest Way To Pay Filipino Outsourcers - Tip From An Insider

Hi Everyone,

First off, a little info about me. Almost 3 years experience in IM, born and raised in the Philippines so I know how to do my IM here . A Philippine Outsourcing Consultant to IMers who want to Scale things up by small-to-medium scale outsourcing.

So here's the problem most of our fellow warriors have:

I have been asked more times than I care to remember by fellow IMers on the best way to pay their outsourced workers in the Philippines.

Most people would agree when I say paying via paypal and then straight to outsourced writers, linkers, etc is hands-down the best, most convenient way to pay.

Some would suggest the following:
- Xoom (not applicable anymore)
- Opening paypal account for outsourcers (hassle and time consuming)
- EON Unionbank (most outsourcing courses tell you this)

So here my solution to your problem:

Globe G-Cash Online

A little disclaimer, I am not affiliated with them nor do I receive any compensation for recommending it here.

So Globe is the biggest mobile phone service provider in the philippines. And they expanded their reach to target the remittance market as this was originally intended for overseas filipino workers.

Basically, you will pay using paypal and your outsourcer will receive the money through her phone. She will then go to one of the 18,000 outlets scattered in the country to encash it or she can pay bills using her phone.

From what I understand, here's the process as I can easily describe it.
1.) Ask your outsourcer to register his/her phone for G-Cash (ask her, she knows what this is)
2.) Pay her using paypal
3.) You will get a confirmation if its successful

Here's what I like about this program:

- You will be paying in Philippine Peso (Great save!)
- Easiest for you as you will be paying using paypal
- Have been using Globe as my phone company for 8 years and they're a top notch company

Downsides I can think of on top of my head:

- Your outsourcer might be using another mobile service (globe is the biggest but there are some using smart or sun cellular so you might need them to buy a globe sim card for cheap at around $1.30)
- There are limitations. 1 paypal account can send money to only 4 gcash users.

I think it just launched and havent tested it yet myself as I dont pay using US dollars But I recommended it to some friends and will tell them to post their success on this thread.

Here's the Link:
https://www.gcashonline.net/

And here's their Facebook ad that I saw which explains what to do and other specifics:
Globe - GCASH Online

Hope This Helps a lot of warriors.

Subscribed to this thread and if you have questions regarding outsourcing to the philippines and REALLY finding out the insider's facts, let me know and ill try to answer them if my time permits.

There goes another $7 WSO I just gave away. lol

Well, its back to work for me.

All the best,
-Yan Kirby

I got a message from globe about this. I have yet to check how much the Paypal fees are.

Why did you say xoom is no longer applicable?

    Thanks for the tip.

What works for me is to pay in the local currency, PHP, rather than in US dollars, and to cover the Paypal charges myself. Also, to pay weekly every Friday.

That way my team members get a regular weekly wage, and they know exactly what they will get every Friday - works wonders for team morale.

Lots of people teach paying monthly, but I feel that more frequent
pay would be better too... for morale.

Thanks for the tip, however I'd be a bit concerned that this would eliminate some potential workers (due to some not having the capabilities to receive payments this way).

I'll keep this on the radar though. Thanks again!

I dont think this is the case. Globe users far outnumber other network subscribers and im thinking they will not a hard time getting the payments as all malls in the philippines have at least 1 globe outlet.

      Ask your outsourcer about it.

I have been in the Philippines off and on for the last 3 years.

For me - the best way for me is to use PNB Europe (they also operate in the US/Canada) - they send the money in about 10 minutes, charge you almost nothing and give you a great rate. You just phone them up and the money is sent. You'll need them to have a PNB account to get the best rate, but otherwise it's super easy for them to get the money.

Yes, heard about this one too but I dont have any experience using PNB so far.

You're staying in davao? I live in a city just a few hours away. When are you coming back? Would be best to sit down and talk about IM.

Im just dying to talk to someone who's doing exactly what im doing. Cant seem to find anyone in my city.

      Im sending you a PM.

    Thanks for the tip.

I spent a month last year vacationing in
Zambales, living in a bamboo hut.

Had to sleep under mosquito netting :-)

I may take you up on that. The furtherest south I've been is Cebu.

When Mt. Pinatubo erupted on the Luzon plain, I helped orchestrate
the evacuation of about 21,000 American military and their families...
I guess that was around '90-91.

Wow, you really know your tagalog. No wonder your business is where it is right now.

Im in Cagayan de Oro will. A bit further south. When Mt. Pinatubo erupted, I was about 4 years old.

Hey, the offer still stands. Let me know when you're in the Philippines.

        Best,
        -Yan Kirby
