Hey guys, I am planning to make some sites on some niches. I looking for something fast and SEO optimized as i want to concentrate on article marketing and make my site hosting side fast and efficient. I have some questions

i, Are HTML (front page based or Dreamweaver based) websites better than Wordpress?

ii, The problem with wordpress is I dont want to constantly update numerous niches. Is there someway I can modify the wordpress to website?

iii, Are there any templates you would love to recommend?

Thanks in advance

Wordpress is easy. Installing a new theme is very easy. 1000s of plug-ins available. Very easy to SEO it. Saves times. Easy to replicate. I would whole-heartedly recommend that your go for WordPress.

I generally opt for themes I can find directly from WordPress Control Panel itself, via search. Saves me the time to download it, FTP, etc.

    Nothing like One-Click Installation.

If you are starting out for the first time around. Go with simple themes, see how they get listed in Google, et. al, No need to go with fancy themes the first time around when you might be trying to learn it all.

For starters: a WP blog (or WP based site) is a website.

    As for the questions:
    1. I don't think any of them is "better". It is a matter of choice, convenience, skills. For HTML-illiterate people WP is a good solution. PLus, the good themes are already optimized for SE (more or less).

    2. You don't need to update anything. Although you should: the SEs like new content...

    3. Templates for what? Your DW sites? WordPress is using themes. A theme, which is the overall layout (graphics, colour scheme, design...) of your WP based site should be selected for your niche/topic - not by some abstract recommendation.

I prefer to use WordPress as it's faster... and I've done quite a few sites using either method.

As far as updating content, it's better to continuously add content for search engine purposes, but you don't have to. If you're worried about the date thing on your blog making your posts look old, just remove it from your theme and your posts will be "timeless".

If your hosting your wordpress blog yourself then adsense is an option. You can even find themes with adsense widgets preinstalled. Enter your adsense code and away you go. Again a quick google search will come up trumps.

Im praying for you if blogspot is your money site you mat want to rethink that choice thoroughly, and go with a self hosted Wordpress blog.

You do not want your business in someone elses hand. Control your content and start a Wordpress self hosted blog. Trust me I know from experience when my blogger blog was deleted. Just giving you a heads up, if its a site you do not care about or is easy to replicate then no biggie.

But if you are putting a ton of work into your blog its a no brainer Wordpress.org

And a self hosted Wordpress blog is adsense ready, and affiliate ready you can put what you want it is your blog.

For your information Wordpress can now support adsence. It is much easier to get a site up and running with wordpress than it is with Dreamweaver or microsoft expression web.

Wordpress is very easy to use and as mentioned above, one click installation of themes through the admin control panel is painless.

Some templates are more geared towards SEO than others so do some google'ing to check out the themes before hand, a simple '(theme name) review' search will do the trick.

I use Wordpress a lot but I also use plain, very fast to create html websites to promote specific physical products (Amazon). These have about 3-5 pages and I do not update them past that. They're not fancy, but they work.

I have to say, despite starting with plain old html sites 6 years ago - wordpress is too damn easy to ignore.

You can get themes which can turn your wordpress install into a 'minisite' - it will even appear to be a static html site to google.

I'm not sure on the google dance it does with wordpress but I can tell you you can change the headers wordpress produces and google won't even know the difference. That's generally what you would do if you were to use wordpress to create a static website.

        Hope that helps.

Absolutely, 100% Wordpress if you're looking for quick and easy and don't have a background with HTML. It's much easier to update than HTML, and you have lots of theme options to choose from, based on the niche you're in.

On that note, Thesis is a well-known theme that gets recommended a lot. It's a paid theme, but you can do a lot of customization to make it your own.

Wordpress is a lot easier to install and customize than it seems at first. It is certainly easier to work with than your trying to create a site from scratch in Dreamweaver or with plain old HTML. If your host has Fantastico you can install it with just a single click.

I use Wordpress for my freelance site and blog and love it. I wouldn't go any other way.

Wordpress is recommended these days and not HTML static sites. They are more user friendly from a non-techi perspective. They have a wide range of plugins that can do a lot of interesting stuff. Even video sites are using wordpress these days.

If you don't know anything about html or php then Wordpress is obviously the way to go. I use both. When I'm feeling lazy or don't need to completely build out a website, I use Wordpress. Html and php give you absolute control and are infinitely more flexible if you take the time to learn how to use them.

I actually just tested the difference between wordpress and html sites about a week ago. I followed the adsense coaching from zeus66 and while he teaches it with html sites I wanted to see if it would be better or not if I used wordpress. I bought a .com and a .net for the same keyword, used the same number of pages, used a theme that I could give the same layout as the html-site and only used a few plugins, one of those being all in one seo.

I set up the sites at the same day, I first did the wordpress blog, having it invisible for search engines until I had the html site ready, so I can say that they both went live on the internet at the same time. I also have a reseller account and had set up each blog on an account with different IP addresses. I did the same kind of promotion for both and the results actually surprised me. Both sites were found by google at the same time and are working it's way up in the search engines together. For example, when they were first listed, the .com (the html-site) was 23 and the .net 22, now the .net is 12 and the .com is 11.

I'll be doing some more tests, with this, but the result up till now shows that neither one is better then the other when both get the same work done, content-wise as well as promotion.

Honestly, the only difference I had is the fact that I can set up a Wordpress blog much faster then an html site.

    Hi
People are shifting from static site to word-press.
If you want to optimize your word-press site for SEO then you can install all in one SEO pack as well as site-map generator plugin for your word-press site.
Wordpress site can index fast than static site. You need to install some more good plugins.
For themes you can use free themes from freewpthemes[dot]net and can customize them further
All themes are table-less,div based, clean as well as SEO friendly.
    Thanks

Would DEF go with Wordpress. It's very easy to install, allows for endless plugins for just about everything, allows you to easily schedule content, lets you install themes of your preference with a few clicks, makes for super easy SEO, and easy installation of almost anything you want to put on it. You can just do so much with it so easily and quickly.

Wordpress every time. Wordpress is what we call an evergreen site ie it is constantly changing as you add content to it.

Well.. guess what I'm going to recommend.... Wordpress! I never thought I would go with it because I'm an html person from the old days (90s) - but a bit like Windows was easier to use than DOS, (and I hated the idea of Windows at first, having gone to all the trouble to learn DOS) so Wordpress is easier quicker and more flexible than an html static site! Good luck with your business!

  • It depends:

    - For small mini websites with 4 or 5 pages total, I still prefer standard HTML sites made with DreamWeaver.

    - However, if you plan on creating a page that can expand into submenus, different categories, etc, then Wordpress is way easier to manage as your site grows.

I see no need for Wordpress for tiny niche sites, nor you'll get better search engine rankings.

    Website vs Wordpress
If its on the internet, its a website. Wordpress is a type of web site, just like a forum, social networking site, news site,,,,, and everything else is.

What your asking about is a database driven content management system - wordpress, or an HTML or PHP site made from static pages.

If you plan on making lots of updates, go with a content management system. In this case its Wordpress.

A static site is good for 3, 4, 5, or even 10 pages. But once you start getting dozens of pages, its best to let a database server handle those pages for you.

It boils do to the question, will you be updating this site often?

Yes - then go with a content management system
No - go with some static HTML or PHP pages

It's like asking which hammer is better. If your doing furniture a tack hammer, building a house a framing hammer. But both are hammers and both drive nails. It just depends on your need. I personally build most sites as html and place a blog in a subdomain.

I think that Wordpress is by far the way to go. It is easy to use and easy to set up. I use HTML sites but I do not find that they are as SEO friendly as Wordpress and this means you need to do a lot more work on the marketing and SEO.

In the way of a template, just look through Wordpress and pick a couple of styles that you like and then just stick with these. This way they are free and easy to get. Plus you will not be wasting time looking all over the place for a theme.

A website made with HTML is commonly known as a static website. When a website is made in HTML it can be done all by hand (which is the long, outdated way and is rarely used) or it can be made with some sort of website design program such as Microsoft Expressions, Adobe Dreamweaver or a host of others.

    WordPress

WordPress was originally created as a blogging software but it has grown into so much more than that. Yes, you can make wonderful blogs on WordPress but you can also build entire sites on this open source (free) piece of software.
