Well the aim of your blog might be get targeted traffic...i recommend you to offer on every page of your site or blog a free ebook to your subscribers...so they give you their email adress...a web form on every page of your site or blog because traffic may come from internal pages not only from your homepage...

Yes your aim always has to be build your list...because it will allow you to more profitable joint ventures..

the best autoresponders are aweber and getresponse...but i dont think they accept paypal ...not sure though...hope this helps

You can still post valuable contents to your blog while building your subscribers list at the same time. Write an article, submit it to other directories such as Ezine Articles, Articles Base, Article Dashboard, etc.. and once it has been approved, go ahead and post your article in your blog. Just add an opt-in form to your blog, offer something for free like an ebook, or an email mini-course like "Discover 7 ways how to make money online in 7 days", that's what you call list building while blogging.

I use a free video I picked up from Matt to grab subscribers on both the same optin page and on my blog as well.

Making money fast online. The fastest way I have found to build a subscriber list and mine mainly is through jv giveaways and doing adswaps. Adswaps being #1.

To build my first 2000 subscriber list took around 60 days. I have done it much quicker now around 20-30 days only because I leverage the list I have already created.

Best autoresponder hands down is Aweber. $19 a month unless you have over 500 subscribers then it is around $10 for additional subscribers up to 2,500 and so on. You can see their pricing on their site.

Also, remember that every subscriber is worth $1-$2 on average.

For paypal use either the paypal plugin to generate secure cards or use your paypal debit card. If you do not have a paypal debit card, just request one. It is simple just find it on the paypal site.

I have a squeeze page at How to Add 100 Fresh Leads to Your List Every Day which is a great converter. But I don't use it anymore as there is not a real up sell in it. you can download and use it if you want.

I build a list of just over 100 people in 30 days using safelists alone but these are usually not very responsive list that is why I change to different traffic sources

You really must test squeeze pages. No way around it. Unless you're happy with whatever your conversion rate is now. If so, spend your time on other things in your business. I have a very very simple-looking squeeze page in my sig, and it converts at over 40%. Could it do better? Probably. At some point I'll test and tweak some more and get it up closer to 50%. But it can take a lot of patience and time. So pick your battles.
