Can you succeed in IM if you are not a writer?

Hi everyone

Scott's thread about writing has got me wondering. Can you succeed in IM if you are not a writer (or someone who loves writing)?

I mean, the quantity of articles and so on being produced by some of the people on the forum here to succeed is astounding!

Is the only other option outsourcing? Does anyone outsource all their writing?

It seems to me that being successful online has an enormous amount to do with how good a writer you are, and how much you love writing! (which I suppose should come as no surprise as the internet is the information super highway!)

cheers
Geoff

I think content creation plays a big part and content is king.

Saying that, it depends what you mean - do you mean the IM niche specifically? or to be successful AT internet marketing?

To operate within the IM niche, I'd say being a decent writer is top of the pile. It's not like you can't learn how. If you can't write, you can have something ghost written but how long will that carry you for?

At the end of the day, you WILL have to answer to your expertise and if you've simply outsourced everything..you're screwed, and so is your reputation.

*edit* - think I've touched on a point here considering the replies below.

Outsourcing will only get you so far. You have to have the goods within you to back it up. Jeez, I could have outsourced an ebook 6 years ago when I was a newbie, pushed it to the limit and made some cash. I could have outsourced the seo, the content creation, everything, even the management.

But then, imagine I am in a webinar one day and someone asks me a question about my success. What do I say? "I don't actually know jack, I just outsourced the lot, THAT'S the secret to making money online".

The answer to your question is yes.

There's so much more you can do than write.

Article writing has never featured in my arsenal of marketing tools (apart from 1 or 2 to test it out).

    - Provide real value for real people.
    - Let those people know about it.

There's really not much more to it than that.

    Cheers,

I think it is possible. Good IM do not need be a good writer. Because good writers may not good at SEO. So they need hire a SEOer for promotion their product. Internet Marketer use outsourcing is same , they paid some money to buy good content, and use it for their works. IM do not need to be a good writer, but they need to know how the articles convert to their money.

I believe you can success in IM even if you're not a writer. If you know and have a clear picture of what you want then you can make it. Outsourcing is an option or have someone do your articles but you'd still have to do your part in determining which is a good one and which is not.

There's always room for success but you'd still have to be part of making it happen.

I'm not into writing much and so I do market "myself" and my business MORE through video viral marketing. I love creating videos of what I do as well and I use that passion to be able to connect with the people I'm relevant with in the market and also with the niche I'm working.

Besides, having it more live like what the videos do is I think much effective as most people have been into written content. With videos, since it's more different way to capture people's attention, it's great for you to start if you also are keen speaking in front of the camera or doing screen captures.

Absolutely! Just outsource your writing to qualified writers. Then again, when it comes to outsourcing your writing to someone else, don't just tell the fella "Write a Billion Page eBook on Cat-Juggling". Not good.

Instead, break it down into indivdual chapters and sub-topics and just give it to the outsourced writer. This always works for me, cos I end up with a higher than high quality product

Article Marketing is one tool for IM but you can still do a lot more than that. Video marketing and social bookmarking and etc. are good tools also to use for IM.

well honestly you can succeed without even use article marketing...there are so many ways to get targeted traffic (video marketing, ppc, jv, social networking...)

on the other hand, i think you can succes in article marketing even if you are not a good writer...if you do proper keyword research and you choose the right title for your article...to get higher search engine rankins is more important the relevancy of your article and the backlinks thank the quality of the article...

thanks for replies so far everyone. It is really inspiring to hear and reinforce that there are other ways to succeed in IM without necessarily being able to (or have the desire to ) write prolifically. Which is not to say I am not impressed by those people who do - it is impressive
