IMers. Where do you find "get rich quickers" & fast income seekers?

by SeanyG

Hey guys,

I have a few successful (and falied) businesses under my belt in non-IM niches.

Now I'm considering getting started with IM but I'm confused. I don't know where you would find people that want to buy biz-op style get rich quick products.

People that are looking to get rich quick or make quick money online aren't the type of people to follow blogs and learn on message forums, so where do you find them?

The only two that I could come up with were Google and through JVs with other IMers lists.

Where else do you find these quick / easy money seekers (people that have been fired, want to work from home etc)?

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

~Sean

I don't even know how to respond to this.

So let me get this straight. You want to prey on people who are desperate
and looking for quick and unreasonable ways to make money online because
they essentially don't know any better.

Where is my black book?

      Oh, this gets even better.

After seeing your other thread, YOU'RE asking people how to make fast
      money online.

So, in other words, you don't know how to do this yourself, but you're
looking for people who ARE looking for the same thing to sell them YOUR
      get rich quick product.

Folks, am I the ONLY one who sees the irony in this?

Yeah, gotta find that black book for sure.

Bid on those keyword phrases with ppc..
Or optimize your articles and videos for those keyword phrases...
also use these keyword phrases to see who is on first page of google for those phrases and try to partner with them...

but make them clear to your potential customers you dont offer any get rich product...you dont want to get into legal problems...

Nope. I was actually just logging it to ask the OP if they actually had a product that they had gotten rich quickly with (I know there really is no such thing) and in the meantime saw your 2nd post.

This is why IMers get such a bad name because of crap like this.

God, the things people do for money. Money's the root of all evil....

Steve, you ain't the only one that sees the irony in this. It's messed up that he isn't making (much?) money himself so he wants to sell false hopes to those who are desperate to get rich quick.

Why do Internet Marketers scoff at the "get rich quick" questions when what most Internet Marketing copy sells is the idea of getting rich quick. The copywriters who are the most popular can sell the idea of getting rich quick while pretending not to offer this most desired state of mine.

The Internet is all about "instant gratification" instant access, instant wealth. We salivate when we read stories of individuals who went from flat broke to fabulously wealthy in 30 days using some secret, underground, "never before revealed, ultimate proven system that suddenly propelled them into the rich group of folks.

How many ebooks, reports, or case studies would you sell if we told the truth and revealed that you may need to spend 6 months learning, testing, studying, applying, reading, creating and listening before you make a dime online? Never saw that requirement in any product offerings online.

We all want to make that quick buck and whether you admit it or not,,,, so does everyone... that is the promise of Internet Marketing Guru's.

"In just 30 seconds time, the "combination" will finally click, everything will fall into place... and after weeks, months or even years of frustration, you'll be able to break away from all the lies and 'BS' by copying a series of online cash formulas that have been proven to pull in as much as $100,000 per month!"

These are the promises we make to the general public. Mind you, it does not promise you $100,000 per month... but how many of us read between the lines?

With all that said.... some of you are not desperate or have not been there when you tell desperate people to sign up for Clickbank to make instant cash.

Clickbank takes a while to deliver your check.... Get a Paypal Debit card so that when you make a sale, your money is available for you instantly. Get some free products, resell them, write a report, look for affiliate programs that will pay you instantly into your paypal account.

Well if you looking for people to buy get rich quick schemes. Just post ads on ppc or on social networks for that. There is no rich scheme but if you are dealing with newbies they might buy. You can't anyone here with that because everyone here are marketers. So get absolutely new people and make sure you make the earning look extra simple.

Sean, I've been reading your blog. It sounds like you really know what you are doing, which is why I am puzzled a little by this post.

You already know how to build a list fast and you have a list of 20,000 people in one of your niches, "I have a 20,000+ person list that I built in 9 months in one of my smaller niches."

I'll bet some of them (probably a large number of them) will be looking for ways to make additional income.

And you already have a give-away book to build your list:

"Join My Newsletter And Get A FREE Copy Of My ‘Online Business Blueprint’ And My ‘How To Make Money Online’ eCourse"

    "You'll Discover How To:
    - Make $15,000 in one month
    - Quickly make money online
    - Grow your traffic and sales"

You promise to show them how to "Grow your traffic and sales," or is none of this really working?

      Thanks everyone for the replies.

For the last 7 years I have been selling music to DJs and then selling training to DJs so this post comes from a place of trying to understand the IM market.

All of the "gurus" say that people want quick and easy solutions. Look at Eben Pagan's last Guru Blueprint video about how to package up your content and make it sound quick and easy because thats what people want. 3 Steps or less.

Also consider the fact that the top biz-op products out sell the top IM products on Clickbank by 10 times.

Seth Godin (top marketing blog in the world) gave me some similar advice based on what he saw on my blog:

"The challenge with providing business training is that there are two types of people in the market:

      1) The Do'ers - the people that take action, build businesses etc.

      2) The opportunity seekers - people that want quick and easy money, money making systems etc.

Both have distinctly different mindsets. Both look for different things. Both hang out in different places.

The do'ers like you Sean don't buy as many courses as the opportunity seekers. Its important that you understand both types of people in the market."

I am in the first category. I always have been a "do'er". I get ideas and I take action and this is why I have been successful.

Opportunity seekers are a whole different animal to me. I don't understand them. I don't know what they are looking for. I don't know where they hang out. And I don't know why they buy into ****ty get rich quick scams.

That being said I want to understand these opportunity seekers since they make up such a large part of the market.

Yes my opt in box gives away a PDF teaching people to make money online (by setting up a blog and creating a product or finding clickbank offers). Yes my DJ business has made over $15,000 in a month and I make this clear.

I do this because a lot of other successful marketers use hooks like these. Marketers that we all look up to. Marketers that don't sell ****ty get rich quick products.

I also want to appeal to some of these "opportunity seekers" because they are the beginning of the entrepreneur life-cycle! A lot give up but some see the light and move on to start a real online business!

Weather you guys like it or not, "opportunity seekers" are a HUGE part of the IM space. Hundreds of thousands of people have been laid off this year. Hundreds of thousands of people have to work from home due to medical conditions. These people need income in a timely manner.

All of the content on my blog is geared to people starting a business or running a business online. Yet I still get lots of emails and questions about how to quickly make money online.

A huge NEED is being expressed here.

If I can help these people by giving them credible answers or solutions along with the entrepreneurs, then I will do just that. This is why I make posts like these.

It would be easy for me to direct these questions to the highest converting get rich quick product as an affiliate. Instead I am here seeking real credible information to pass along so that people don't get screwed and so my report on my opt-in has even more value.

If my question had been "Where do I find kids that want to learn how to DJ?" instead of "where do I find people that want to get rich quick?" would the replies from certain people in this thread have been different?

The thing is that even the opportunity seekers can be further divided into subgroups.

You have the "Dabblers" who are in love with the IDEA of being successful, but are too lazy to do the work. They like reading sales pages and they like the experience of buying a new product. But then once they have the product and the implementation part comes in, they get bored and start looking for a new product. And that's even with products that contain valid, actionable information. They're professional consumers and the dabbling mindset carries over to other areas of their life as well. Aside from gigabytes of internet marketing courses they've read and forgot about, they also have musical instruments that they told themselves they were going to practice every day, but didn't, excercise equipment that's serving as a clothing rack, etc. People like this don't need advice on how to make money. They need advice on how to adopt the habit of following through on things.

Then you have the people who are actually desperate to make money quickly because they've hit a rough patch in their life. These people may be hard workers and have no problem following through on a project, but unless they've already got a marketable skill, AND the skills to market their marketable skill, they're not likely to be in a situation where they can make much online.

Basically the people most capable of making money online quickly are the people who already understand marketing and know what they're doing. And if you already knew what you're doing, then you wouldn't be asking the question. To someone who DOESN'T know what they're doing, and needs money fast, I'd tell them to forget about trying to make money online and to redouble their efforts to find work in the real world, even if they have to wash windows or clean gutters or something temporarily.

If you're truly desperate, then you need to go with what's MOST likely to put cash in your pocket, not something that might work, or could work, or worked for somebody else, but might not work for you. A job means a paycheck in your hands every week or two weeks. It doesn't depend on choosing the right keywords or writing a killer sales letter. So I say go with the option that's less risky and more likely to produce cash for you. Then once you're back on your feet financially, you can approach starting an online business and not be coming from a place of desperation where you're not thinking clearly.

Of course the replies would be different.

People who want to learn to DJ are not nearly as in an emotionally fragile and vulnerable state as people who need money NOW. There is so much less desperation among the DJing crowds that these two examples aren't even comparable...it was a mistake to have even tried to compare the two.

People who are in dire financial straits have (overdue) bills to pay, kids to feed, their dignities on the line, and possibly failing health. By specifically going after these people, you are preying on their vulnerability (and that makes you a sleazy salesperson).

lol ... I'm speechless. You're asking here where to find the clueless dreamers who believe every sales pitch they read as long as it promises instant, effortless wealth.

Have you checked the WSO forum by any chance? At any given moment, it's full of them. Oh, and don't forget to add the fake screenshots and fake testimonials. They always fall for that one.

    Well, that's an interesting question.

Since most of us know that there really is no way to get rich quick then I think it seems like you are trying to exploit people who may be in a desperate situation or take advantage of those that don't know any better.

I don't know anything about being a DJ, so maybe trying to market to kids that want to learn how to DJ is the same thing?

From my perspective (not knowing anything about it) it seems like that would be something kids could learn and you would provide them with the course to do that. Some would take action and some would not.

Maybe you would market it the same way "learn how to DJ in 10 easy lessons". Even though it really isn't that easy.

Maybe we all market our non IM stuff in a similar way. I know that I have emphasized the "easy" and "quick" parts of the non IM stuff I want to sell.

So, why do I think that's any different than selling get rich quick stuff?

I think it might be because when it comes to "money" it seems like it is taking advantage of someone to imply it will be quick and easy when I know it won't. But somehow if it was about dog training, I wouldn't feel so bad even though dog training isn't quick or easy either!

So now, since you put it that way and I am giving it some thought, I'm not really sure if it is that much different.....

    Sean,

Here's a give-away. DJ's want to earn more money just like everyone else. When I was a teenager (about a hundred years ago), I and three of my friends rented a large reception hall and put together teen dances... every Sunday afternoon during the school year, and every Thursday evening during the summer.

We would attract up to 2,000 kids a night at $1 each. That would be equivalent to $10 in today's money. It was a gold mine.

Twenty-five years later, a teenager named Jason was working for me after school and on weekends. He would tell me about the teen dances he went to at a local swim club. He guessed they attracted about 2,000 kids at $5 per person. Sure enough. I knew the marketing director for that swim club (actually a wave-pool with slides and surf).

I contacted the pool's marketing director about doing a joint venture because I was selling a product to local teens - high school senior photography for the year book. Indeed it turned out Jason was correct, they were attracting 2,000 kids to their Wednesday night teen dances. At $5 per person that is $10,000 for four hours work. They also sold that much again in soda pop and snacks.

That was 1989. So here we are 20 years after that, and because of inflation I'll bet one could charge $10 per person today. Think about it, 2,000 kids @ $10 is $20,000 for 4 hours of work.

Teach your DJ's (of which you appear to have a list of 20,000) how to rent a hall, hire off-duty police officers to direct traffic and "keep the peace," and how to promote it to local teens. You can help your list of 20,000 DJs get "rich." In fact your DJs could work out a deal with a reception hall so that instead of paying the hall, they split the money with the hall - more for the DJ because the hall will make money selling snacks.

Just think outside the box. It's all sitting right there in front of you.
