I was reading one of the ebooks on SEO and he mentions that there should be some IP diversity for doing SEO. From what i understand it is create link building from different IP addresses? Is that true ?
How as a individual i can get multiple IP addresses to do SEO more effectively. Any guidance on this is appreciated? you can PM me.

    Okay, so here's the thing.

IP diversity is about the links to your website coming from a different website, with a different IP address.

It does not have A SINGLE DAMN THING to do with the IP of your workstation at home or your cable modem or any of that.

If you need to change the IP of your local computer to do something, it is EXTREMELY LIKELY that what you are doing is UNETHICAL, ILLEGAL, OR BOTH.

Yeah, sorta, but no, there's actually a bazillion people using
proxies to change their local IP 100% legitimately. I've seen
this statement made on this forum before.

It's a understandable mistake, when something doesn't effect
a person, they have no experience or understanding of issues
which they don't have to face.

Let me give you a few for future reference.

      I use an IP/Proxy constantly, without I wouldn't have a chance
of running one of my business.

Folks in the US entirely forget that there are things in the US
such as US based landing pages, content, CPA offers etc that
folks externally can't see without a US proxy, I wouldn't even
know what the vendors LP looked like without my proxy.

When I'm advertising on Facebook I use a proxy to see what
advertisers are doing in other countries.

When I'm looking in the search results from france, UK, USA
etc I use my switchable proxy. Otherwise I wouldn't be
able to see my own or clients positions easily.

When I want to create a gmail account, not googlemail.

When I'm logging into my US bank account it has a very annoying
function saying I'm not currently in the US, so I use my IP
switcher set for a US IP.

That's five reasons just off the top of my head.

Proxies don't kill people, people do .....

Old thread but useful. Looks like SEO is getting like a an old giant tree with trunks, and bushes here and there. when ever i try to study SEO it takes me to some other fields like this one here

I've never heard about this before.

To change your IP address you can use proxies (google it). You can either get a list of proxies and use software to switch between them, or just use one of the free browser proxies.

Proxies can be extremely useful in some circumstances, but do not overuse them.

    Good Luck!

    hi sucan,
your site is ranked high caused by many other sites make vote to you. the vote is backlinks.
if all backlinks are from a group of sites which are hosted on one I.P, what does it mean? the google may treat thus backlinks action are done by you yourself. it looks like backlinks spammy. google is smart guy so that such kinds of vote will not benefit your site too much.
but, if most of your backlinks are from sites with different ips? this mean your site are voted by "different" people. this kinds of backlinks may send more reputation to your site. as result your site get higher opptunity to reach higher position.
above example is just used to explain ip diversity. it is not precise but it is reasonable and understoodable. i hope you get the sense.
