How to do "Cross-Selling"

I've got a good idea of what cross-selling is...but how would i go about implementing it.
I have a membership site i want to use this tactic on. I have an affiliate offer which i believe is a perfect compliment to mine. Where/when and how would i "pitch" this product to them after they have bought.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can promote a product to a list and then cross sell with other products that can further benefit them. You could also place a product in your backend.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

the best moment to back-end sell your customers is seconds or minutes after they have bought from you (that's when the customer has still his credit card in his hand and is in a "buying mood")....so in the thankyou page...just my opinion..

Getting people to buy is easiest if it's
all in one smooth process flow.

Use a 1 click pre-sales or post sales
up sell system for the greatest effective
    sales flow.
