I own an "offline" business and am working on carrying that business online. This area of business has several different niches and my plan is to set up several sites targeting each niche. In fact, I plan to take over this entire market on the internet (can you tell I practice the power of positive thinking?)! I actually completely dominate this market in my own city so you just never know what I'm capable of! Sorry, getting off topic...

My question....

Should I use my company name in the title of each site ie., ABC Feet, ABC Hands, ABC Heads (I'm sure you get the picture)....or, should there be no association.

My question is specific to the titles of the sites. Ofcourse, I will be linking the sites together in various ways.

What are the pros and cons to doing it either way?

Thanks!

I think branding is essential. You only have to look at how the big boys do this. Online and off.
People buy into brands, once trust and recognition is built, then customers can be directed to other products by the same company.
So a big yes from me.

If what you're saying is true then using your company name will be a great way to gain popularity for your site. But that will bring you to making only one site because it would sound ridiculous to name 5 sites with synonymous names......

Indeed, you should keep using your company name in order to create branding. You should have one site and have sublink of ABC feet, ABC hand, ABC head including in it. It would be good for you as a starter to focus on "something" (taking action with step-by-step) rather than trying to grab all at once and wasting your time. I'm sure your in the right track though! Good luck!

branding is so important, so definitely YES! But beware, as with any online or offline business, if you get a bad name for the brand (and i am not saying for a second you would), it is very hard to shake off the connection to that brand - particularly on the internet

You definitely need to brand yourself and it is important to get the right balance. A logo may look right on your index page of your site, but use it too much in other areas and it may look tacky etc.

You have to distinguish yourself from your competitors by offering consistent value, reduce a buyer's level of perceived risk and offer a range of functional and emotional attributes that are of value to the buyer.

Every site you own that is connected to your business will have to be clearly defined by your branding. If your one site is orange and your other site is light purple and doesn't have the same look or feel or your main elements do not reflect as part of your first site then you will not have established a good brand. Look into branding in general and see how some of the big sites like Starbucks and McDonalds do it. What elements do they change or keep the same and what discerning feature do they have on the websites that a person will recognize even offline?

    Things to think about.

I definitely think it is Essential to keep the same company name throughout all of your sites. This brands your site name and your services and lets you get established as a reputable business and entity. And linking all of your sites is a good idea. Just remember to optimize every single site on its own and build links individually.

Positive thinking is GREAT. Remember that it takes a lot of work and patience in order to get established online. Especially if you are hoping to take your business global. Good luck!
