Sign Up Through Own Affiliate Link?

Hi,

This question may sound ridiculous, but I want to see a) if it is even possible and b) whether this broke any terms of affiliate programs.

I planned to order something off of amazon and wanted to see if I could get a slight discount by using my own link.

WIth most places it's against the TOS, but I'm not 100% sure with Amazon

In general, this is frowned upon, whether it's against TOS or not.

Doesn't seem like a good idea.

I've never done this before...just wanted to make sure it wasn't a common and acceptable practice that I've been missing out on. As an internet marketer, I wouldn't try to unethically take from one of my peers using this method (without first asking). However, if it was "ok'd" by Amazon, I want to take advantage of every cent I can save.

I don't think I'd have a problem allowing my affiliates to use their link to buy my future products (to allow them to be more educated) since many ask for free trials anyway. However, I could see how an Amazon or eBay would be upset for purchases made using one's affiliate link.

I attempted to search for this topic and can't seem to find it anywhere. While I knew this might be a touchy subject, I figured clear answers might help newbies like me who will likely come across the same question and may mistakenly make the wrong choice.

You can't buy products through your own Amazon account and earn commission. I did it by accident a couple of years back and they just reverse the entry on your commission statement.
