WOHOO! Made my first sale off of Internet Marketing on Clickbank

It was September if last year that I first found out about internet marketing and started reading about it, and so, joined clickbank.

It was February of this year that I found a product I wanted to promote, found a keyword and started to build my affiliate site. I finished building the site it March, and started article writing in early April, committing to write 2 articles a day, 5 days a week for 30 days.

Though I started writing in early April, I didn't submit my first article to EZA until the 3rd week in April and it didn't get approved til 4/26/10.

Well, after taking some advice I read somewhere on here, I promised myself early May that I wasn't going to check my Clickbank account for sales until June 1, that would be this morning.

Well, to my great PLEASURE, I looked and found I made my FIRST sale on May 19, of $21.24...WOOHOO!

Now, the thing was, my articles weren't that great, because I am still new. I in fact wrote them more like term papers, instead of actually trying to sell something.

Here were my dismal stats the 2nd week of May:

40 Articles
487 Article Views
14.4% Click Rate

I heard from other IMers that this was pretty low for so many articles. After writing my 40th, I had taken 2 weeks off to submit them to other article directory sites and to reassess my article writing skills.

After taking two weeks off, I started writing articles again, armed with more knowledge on how to write better articles, and I received much more views and a higher click rate (about 21%)

BUT, my sale was made BEFORE I started writing my second batch of articles.

Really I believe the reason for my first sale was just consistency and persistence. My articles, while some did get published on other sites, weren't really sales oriented, I don't think my sales site is that great, I'm on the first page on Yahoo! but on the 13th page on Google (which is strange because I was on the 4th page on google several weeks ago).

Also, because I'm new, I just focused on one aspect: article writing. I still know VERY little about other ways to make money like Adsense, etc. As I hone my article writing skills, I will eventually make an effort to learn about other ways to make money (i.e. adsense, write my own e-book, etc.) As a matter of fact, I still don't have an opt-in yet because I have no idea what to offer.

There's still A LOT more to learn, but, WOHOO, I finally feel like a "real" internet marketer. I now have joined the small minority of people who've made money with this.

Now, how does clickbank pay you? I heard it's every 15 days?

Congrats, your first $1 on the internet always feel good. Clickbank plays bi weekly, weekly and monthly (they also got a payment thershold too)

Yeah definately concentrate on article marketing then expand your internet empire. My advice is try not to burn yourself out by working 12 hours a day LOL. I know one guy who made $300 a day using EZA promoting some diet pill heh (**** berry)

Basically if you didn't change the default it will be set at $100

And for your first check, you will need to have at least 5 different credit card numbers from at least 2 different types of payments; Visa, MC, Paypal. However, paypal does not count towards the 5 minimum credit card numbers.

After you make the 5 credit card numbers, from 2 different payment types, everything will be based on you getting the minimum threshold amount.

Wow, what a pain. But I guess after reading their accounting policy, I understand.

Congratulations on your first sale - it's a great feeling, isn't it?

Now with clickbank, they are quite strict on how and when they pay out. You first need to reach their payment threshold and also you need to meet their customer distribution requirement:

Customer Distribution Requirement

ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met:
    • Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers; and,
    • Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal). Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.

You will need to check the accounting section of their site, but you have to get your head down and keep working on those sales. They will come - you now know that's possible.

Make sure you are building your list of subscribers...so send them first to an opt in page....so you can promote different products to your list whenever you want...

You can create a small report or ebook and offer it on your opt in page so visitors give you their email adress...

Yea, I've unfortunately not done this yet because, frankly, when I first started, I just didn't know about it.

My concern is that I'm not really a "guru" of the law of attraction (the product I'm promoting is in that niche), so I didn't really feel I had the right to go and write an ebook and I really wouldn't know what to write.

Where do you get an opt-in page and do you have to sign up with a service?

I recommend to use aweber or getresponse...you just can write a short 5 page guide about the topic..

you don't need to be a guru about the topic...just do a bit research and create your own content..or let someone else do that for you...

Hey, thanks for the info, but not to beat a dead horse, how would you pick what to write about? Would you write this "5 page guide" based on some article you wrote? What would determine what topic you pick to write about and are you also promoting your site in this e-book? I just don't want to write "crap" and wind up turning off a potential subscriber.

Congratulations on your sale, it really goes to show that consistency and persistency pays off. Once you've mastered article marketing, time to explore different ways of making money online. As they say, "many streams make a river", so build as many income streams as you possibly can.

Regarding your question, there's a service where you can handle your email list, and that's Email Marketing Software, Email Marketing Newsletters & Autoresponders by AWeber. Most of the online marketers are using Aweber so you know it's a trusted company. And start building your list too, your article marketing efforts would be great if you are also building your list. There's a lot of squeeze page templates out there, or you can ask someone here in this forum to provide a template for you. If you don't have a product to offer for free yet, you can offer a mini email course like "make money online in 7 days" or something like that, since you are very passionate in article writing, you can also get ideas from the articles that you wrote and offer your expertise and make a mini email course.

        hope this helps.

        Regards,

        Gary

          Gary,

Thanks for the info. Now, me being "passionate" about article writing is a STRONG word...LOL. I choose to focus on it now because it's an aspect of IM which is an avenue for making money. I think as I really start to make money with this thing, this will be one of the things I outsource because so far, it takes up a lot of my time. Also, I still haven't honed my skills yet to be able teach it to others.

That being said, are you saying that you can offer a product that's totally unrealted to your niche?
