Who Is Making Money Article Marketing?

Hi Warriors,

Let's expose the secrets of article marketing.

Most of us have used article marketing as part of our overall processes at some point, but it seems that recently people have got into the mindset that article marketing should be a business in its own right, and since it's free, there are a lot of newcomers jumping into this without really having a clue about what to expect.

So, rather than keep the darkness over the situation - let's have a poll and let everyone know how well it's working.

Just select an option.

If you have something to say about article marketing feel free to briefly share your experience.

Since it's not effective in every market, don't waste your time saying everyone should do it or any other such ignorant comments, just share your experience - good or bad so that fellow warriors can get a TRUE picture of how it's working for others.

  • I got my start with article marketing early last year, but some personal problems made me forget about internet marketing completely. I only have a handful of sites, but one article (the only one I had in its niche) has been making me one or two sales a month since I've put it up. It just led to a blogger blog where I reviewed three Clickbank products.

Well, life is stable now so I jumped into internet marketing full time this month. I'm building a large affiliate site in this niche now and am developing a list (15 confirmed subscribers so far). Article marketing is one of my strategies for getting traffic to this niche.

I'm a good writer and don't have much of a budget, so I'm sure that article marketing will always be part of my strategy. When I want to take a break from my main niche, I do the bum marketing variety of article marketing. It's what has led me to my first niche, and it might lead me to future ones.
  • Good for you.

Since you're focused on writing anyway, you might want to consider creating a quick process for turning some of your material into press releases to leverage that traffic source, and putting some music to some key points and creating short videos to distribute too. If you're reviewing products, short videos with the hot benefits/problems can work very well and take very little time to do.

    Regards,

    Andy
  • I use articles as a part of an overall marketing strategy and I am happy with the results!

I haven't really tried promoting affiliate products as I don't need to, but I am tempted to conduct a 'project' and see what I can do with free resources.

    • Andy one thing I think a lot of article marketers don't take into consideration is their time. They see the results at the end of the month, but forget that time is money, and how much time they have spent to achieve the income they have.

Often, articles don't convert as they should, and that means that people have to spend many hour writing more each month to keep the income steady.

  • I used to write & submit 3 articles a day to EzineArticles when I created my first product. When EzineArticles.com became my main traffic source, I knew I was on to something.

Now I use article marketing as a momentum starter. For me, it's a mandatory process for whenever I'm releasing a new product or service. I don't have the time to write & submit articles everyday like I used to, so now I usually devote a specific time period (usually right after my product/service is finalized) to article marketing.
  • I owe a lot to article marketing

Article marketing affiliate products through a simple free blog is how I got my start in this industry.

If it wasnt for article marketing I never would have made enough money to start working on my goals

    • I too got started with Article Marketing and today I make money everyday from those articles. Of course I followed this course for about 5 months. Now I am building my own business so that I do not have to keep pumping out articles everyday.

After a while it becomes old writing all those articles and if you stop or take a long break then you notice it in your income. Of course I am still learning everyday and come here for my inspiration but I keep working on my business everyday.
  • I also made my first money using article marketing and free blogs. The first month I did this, I made $600.

I still use article marketing in my overall plan, but I use many other methods combined to make money.

I do have to say that article marketing allowed me to finally make my first money on the internet, and gave me the motivation I needed to continue!
  • I recently blogged about this subject..

Let's straighten somethin out a little...

Article marketing is about as free as a round the world 5 star cruise people.. your TIME must be real cheap if you think article marketing is free...

But here's the beauty of it..

I have never had any actual article writing "training" or mentoring, yet in many, many markets, the ROI that I can calculate from articles is fantastic... I would have never thought for one minute that my writing would be coherent enough to generate traffic and results, but it does.. so it's all good..

It has now become that I LOVE article marketing , when it fits into my business model.. it isn't my business, it's just a part of it. PPC is stronger for me... blogging is stronger for me..

But article marketing has it's place for me... but it certainly isn't free, I am stubborn and confident enough to value my time...

    And so should YOU...

    Much love

    Jay

    • Article marketing is definitely not free but hey, its a good place for new people to get started rather than spending hundreds a month on courses and information (you need something to show you that Internet does make people money to motivate yourself, right?).

I won't see article marketing as a free way of marketing and I always believe that Success = Time + Money. If you don't have the money to outsource the writing or for PPC, you should put in more time and effort.

What I like about article marketing is that the the results snowball as the articles are permanent in the web space.

Would love to read more comments and thoughts on this.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • Amen to that Jay.
  • On one of my niche, I write almost 30 articles and optimize for the keywords I want to tap, and 10 of the articles rank on page #1!

I syndicate all the articles to all 100 directories including ezinearticles, some of the article rated higher than ezinearticles.

I make over $20K from those articles...!
  • I'm just starting to get my feet wet with Article marketing...and it's really fun! (well as long as you outsource the articles that is lol)

One of my very recent articles has only had 8 views, but 3 URL clicks from it!

So I definitely see the potential...and I think it's worth considering giving a try, if you're sitting on the fence about it.
  • Hi people, Andy

Nice to actually have a survey for this..

    Now, my experience..

I've been writing articles for about a month now..

I have 40 articles about spirituality..

5 of those articles are submitted to associated content..they promise me 10 dollars at the end of oct. for the 5 articles..I will upload the rest upon confirmation if they will indeed give me 10 dollars.

they pay $7.50 dollars per 5000 views per month

I have 4 articles on ezine pointing to my blog which displays 3 affiliate products. The last time I checked..There's no sale yet.

I have just completed a make money report on actual ways to earn. one of them is through associated content, its just 5 pages but I haven't released it yet..No cash on this yet.

I also started a website about IM with a total 34 articles as of today I've written 14 articles each is more than 400 words. I haven't uploaded the website yet. I still under contruction.

THE TRUTH THAT I'M PRESENTLY EXPERIENCING

I am very positive about article writing but as of the moment I'm not yet earning anything. I will increase my article release since I have about 70 articles with me that's unreleased. I will check again my status after releasing my 70+ articles which I will point to a website with affiliate products..

This is how Im doing with article marketing at the present moment.

Just in case anybody is wondering how I write, just type in RAUL OMAR DIAZ in google. Look for my EzineArticles there..or some of my sites which will be listed

    ~Omar/RapidScc

Thanks andy for the nice topic
  • Omar perhaps you could share some stats here, because your articles may not be the problem.

How many articles have you submitted to EZA? How many views and URL clicks are you getting, and just as important, what website are you promoting in your resource box?

You may find, your articles are getting lots of views, but little URL clicks, or perhaps you're getting a good amount of views and clicks, but the sales page you're leading them too, could be the problem.
  • Hi ernie,

here are my stats as copied from ezine.
    : 131 : 64 : 3 : 10

    • It's also more about doing it correctly, there are people who have written massive number of articles. But the conversion rate is low because they have done it wrongly. I'm still putting my effort with it.

There are many free article marketing courses online that you can read on. Article marketing is definitely a good way to drive traffic to your website.

    • Thanks Omar,

Well I'm guessing your 4 articles have only been online for a couple weeks at the most? (if they have been online for 2-3 months, then that would say, your articles need to be better)

Otherwise your view count is normal.

You have 131 views and 10 URL clicks...which is just under 10% CTR which is pretty normal.

The reason why you haven't made any sales yet, is because you only have 10 URL clicks. the average is 1 sale for every 100 clicks (can be better though).

You really need to submit more articles (4 isn't really enough to get any meaningful data) and then you will have more views and clicks to analyze.

  • Hi Ernie,

Thanks for the tip. I will be submitting articles in burst, maybe within the week..

also you're right it's too premature..

    Thanks bro,

    Omar

    • Not a problem Omar.

      Glad I could help

      Good luck.

  • Johnny is right,

So many people think that writing articles and submitting them to article directories IS article marketing....and it's not. Writing and submitting is not marketing...it's writing and submitting.

I make a lot of money with article marketing and I don't write 10 articles per day. More like one every 3-5 days. But I actually get a high amount of long-time traffic from (almost) every single one of them. My articles end up with a 2-3 Page Rank (not on EZA) and get tons of LSI-fed organic traffic for months and occasionally more than a year.

So, to add to Johnny's post...you have to do a little work...not much, just a little.

Unless you invoke the "submit 10 articles per day to EZA" method, article marketing is not gonna work for you unless you use that time for writing another 9 articles, to do a tad bit of work getting your current articles working for the long term.

It works for me and a lot of other people.

...and yes, ghostwriters fit right into the picture.

    • Hi Andy:

Hope you're doing well my friend.

My answer to your question might surprise you because you know how
much I support writing articles to promote your business.

As I have said that this business in general isn't for everybody, article
marketing is certainly NOT for everybody.

Forget about the time factor. Some people just flat out can't write a proper
article that's going to end up doing them any good. They have poor grammar,
can't write an interesting thought to save their lives and their writing is all
over the map. Half the time, you don't know what they're talking about.

These people are wasting their time...period.

Then you have the time factor. Article marketing, in many, not all, but
many niches takes time. It's not an overnight thing. So if you're looking
to make a ton of money fast, forget it. Your chances are not good. One
or two articles, unless it's a very unusual niche, are not going to get it
done. You have to write and write and then write some more.

If you have the money, you're better off investing in paid promotion like
Adwords. Problem there is, you better know what you're doing because a
poorly constructed Adwords campaign can eat you alive.

Now, you're probably wondering why, since I do have the money, I still
      prefer to write articles?

The answer is simple. I enjoy it. It's not work for me. I've been writing my
      whole life.

I have a catalog of over 700 songs.
I've written 6 years worth of a daytime drama for the University of Miami.
I've written countless poems, short stories and fiction novels.
I've written about 20 IM related ebooks.
      I've written thousands of articles.

If I stopped writing...if I stopped being creative, I'd whither and die.

But this is NOT everybody and if it's not in your blood and not something
that you absolutely MUST do, there are damn easier ways to make a living
      on the Internet.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • I agree with every single word of Allen's post. Article marketing is or can be so much more then writing and submitting articles. I have articles that I've written in 2005 that still make me money every day.

I tried many online money making tactics for years without making any money until Tim Gorman (Warrior TimG) got me started in article marketing in 2005. I was able to go full-time in 2007. I do much more than article marketing now, but I do feel that it's a great starting point for most people who have no online marketing experience.

Article marketing can be a business in its own right. From my experience, writing and submitting articles to drive traffic to affiliate offers is a great starter business for newbies. It will help them practice and build core skills that they will be able to use in all types of Internet marketing.

Anyone that becomes successful at article marketing will have developed skills in persuasive and interesting writing, basic market and product research, keyword research, content research, traffic and linking strategies, etc. They also will have tested several markets and products and found at least one winner. Using that winning niche and their new found skills they should now have the confidence to create and sell their own product.

All that being said, unfortunately most people who try article marketing will not be successful. This is because it only works if you do it right. Most people won't take the time to learn how to do it right. They will right less than ten articles and quit.

  • Great comments so far.

I'll let you know where I stand on this now

I've had great results with article marketing over the years and it's made me thousands of dollars, but I would never blindly tell anyone else to do it without knowing their business model.

AM is NOT for everyone, and not essential to building a successful business.

It IS a great tool that can support any business and in some situations, with some diligence can produce a very nice residual income.

I love it but would never tell anyone that they 'need' it or that they should start with it.

There are plenty of more productive things that can be done depending on your business, but AM can always supplement that - just make sure you don't skip a few steps and assume it's the best use of your time just because someone else tells you to do it.

    Andy
  • I started article marketing earlier this year and have been making a full-time living off it after 6 weeks submitting to ezinearticles almost exclusively.

    • I just don't use one marketing strategy. Article marketing is one of the marketing strategies that I implement.
  • I'm using article marketing to try and drive traffic to my conduit website. It's hard when i see people who created one article and make xxx dollars from it to stay motivated.

Not much else to say, i can't wait for it to work, i'll just have to keep writing since it's what seems to work for others.
  • So this is the result from yesterday's comment! LOL

Voted- Never tried it -- didn't seem like a good ROI for my time. I'll see where this thread goes and possibly weave some AM in and give it a shot. Then again I have been saying that for ages.
  • I am just trying out the article marketing. The technique I used may have been wrong. It seems different types of products would have different type of articles being written or different directory.

Still trying ... would bookmark this page and update.

    • Hi Folks

If I remember the question was who is making money article marketing?

I agree with Andy you have to cost out your time - otherwise you are wasting both money and time - time that you could be doing something else profitably.

I first started article marketing June 07 - put up a minisite and submitted about 15 articles to ezine and then similar keyword articles to article dashboard, squidoo, goarticles and us free ads. about 60 in all in one niche as an experiment.

I put tracking software on the site and was able to tell which keywords were resulting in traffic and which keywords were resulting in sales.

From those keywords I was able to put up a PPC campaign and get an ROI of 350%.

The articles make me about $10 per day on average - so yes it was worth it!

Furthermore I have now started driving traffic to squeeze pages and will see where that gets me.

You see AM should just be a tool in your arsenal and you should not be scared to experiment!!

  • One thing that many people here wrote is: it depends on your market. Will not work for every market.

Can you provide some examples of markets where AM is NOT working?

    Thanks,

    • Well I am fairly new to internet marketing but I heard a lot of people saying that you should start by doing AM. So I have been. Here are my Ezinearticle.com stats.

      Account Statistics
Article(s) Views:516Profile Views: 147Articles Published:14URL Clicks:83 Live Articles:22Now, I have not made one sale. What am I doing wrong? One of my articles has about 60 views and 24 url clicks. But I am not seeing any type of income. Does anyone think that if I just keep up with it I will end up making some kind of money?
