Hostgator Site Builder

Hi warriors,

Being new to this game and having limited knowledge on website building, i am going to use the site builder supplied with hostgator to build a number of e commerce sites.

Are there any warriors out there who use this sitebuilder and if so do you get any problems.

I would also be interested to hear if anyone could suggest any alternatives , bearing in mind my limited knowledge.

Site builders from hosts like that are usually pretty poor imitations of website design. I'd suggest Wordpress or something else like that which you can use for free. The first website I made I used a bad free program which led to a bad design. I also used Godaddy website builder and the results looked pretty pathetic, especially with the frames which might have looked cool 15 years ago. I don't know about Hostgator website builder per se, but don't have high hopes. Learn website design or find a place to get good, free templates which you can easily edit. Do google searches, you can find nice and free wordpress and other themes to make attractive websites.

The site builder is ok, you can build a nice looking site from it, but you will need to find other forms of site building if you intend to add more sites to your account. You are only allowed one site per account using the site builder at Hostgator

If you don't know basic HTML, I wouldn't touch those templates. You will be cursing Hostgator, swearing at your computer and starting threads on the WF requesting help on how to fix simple HTML issues.

redicelander is right! If you have Hostgator, and are just venturing off into web design, use Wordpress. It's already part of your account and it is a push button installation through Fantastico in your control panel.
