What Does Success Look Like To You?

Hi Warriors -

I was talking with my Fiancee tonight and asked her a question:

"What does success look like to you?"

I wasn't looking for a dictionary definition of success.
I wasn't looking for HER definition of success.
I wanted her to paint a word picture.

So now, Warriors, I'll ask you the same question.

What does Success LOOK LIKE to you? Paint me a word picture to describe what success looks like to you.

I hope to read many responses to this one!

Thanks!
Tim Jensen

Meeting GOD! Feeling His divine presence in my heart and soul. Having just enough to be able to eat, buy, drink, wear, go wherever, drive whichever car I want. Being able to impart knowledge to others that constructively adds to the world and their lives.

Being able to help a person in need. Being able to support my family and being able to help others learn how they can support their families.

And the ability to resist my anger... the power to keep smiling when the times are tough.

    That's My idea of Success,...

Success for me is all internal.

It doesn't matter if I were in an ocean of debt with no income.

Real success comes from the inside in the form of inner peace, personal development, high energy, etc...

Success = being happy for no reason and also for every reason you can find.

Ultimately everything comes down to how you feel. The only reason you want anything in particular (money, love etc.) is to feel great.

Therefore - success is feeling great all the time.

My answer to the question is not nearly as poetic as some of the ones that have already been posted

To me, success is about building assets that generate healthy returns, which I can use to develop more assets... there is nothing I enjoy more than doing this.

I have a special name for that...... I call it "Making Money".

But if I did that by ripping people off, or did it ethically but made myself ill or lost all my friends - I don't think I would call it success.

As my dad used to say "every day ABOVE ground is a great day"! I think knowing you made a difference in someone's life is probably the warmest feeling of success you can have. Whether it is a partner, a child, a colleague, a student or a stranger. The rest of the stuff...money etc. is just icing on the cake.

This forum is a success for the help and community it brings to so many even if the yardstick is sometimes cash. I'll bet there are a lot of great friendships that have been made here.

    Much "success" to all.

Can I attach my painted words? ;-)

For me success means adding more years to my life, adding more knowledge each day, having many friends and generate great ideas all the time.

My idea of success is being able to go to the toilet without asking your boss for permission :-)

I was checking in on my Blackberry to see what people were posting, and came across yours, Anthony. Hilarious! Showed it to one of my co-workers.

To everyone else...Keep 'em coming! I want to hear what you have to say! This kind of thing is a great exercise for everyone to share, but more importantly, for everyone to READ. And we can't READ what is not posted.

Thanks to everyone who has posted so far. I really appreciate hearing from you.

  • Money.

As I get older and mature more, I'm sure my answers will as well, but for now it's mostly just money.

Money isn't real, George. It doesn't matter. It only seems like it does.

For me, success is a feeling rather than a look.

Regardless of the size of the success, if I feel good about what I've accomplished then I feel successful.

My definition: a good life and the freedom to travel. Oh wait, I don't necessarily need a lot of money for that...

To me success is a few things but mostly just freedom... Whether that be through money or not, but I see money as being a key ingredient to freedom.

        Hi Tim:

Winston Churchill's = Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

Mine = Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream.

        Sincerely / Peter A.

I remember Earl Nightingale's definition of success being the progressive realization of a worthy goal. I am wondering how that looks in real life to you. We all think in pictures. When you think of success, what picture do you see?

          Thanks again,

Getting through the checkout stand with a ton of groceries without having to put something back and not sweating it in the process.

Don't you just LOVE those double coupon days!

For me, success means to be able to meet/work with the people who you like most and to be able to skip people who you don't like.
