I've been online since more than 3 years now and was sold the BIG huge internet dream of "get rich quick online". My take - "the 4 hour work week" stuff does not prove to be true at the beginning.

If you're a wannabe internet marketer and just looking to make money online fast, believe me.. Get a full time job to feed your family and have some savings.

An online business takes a lot of effort, pain and time to setup - does not happen in a day or even a few weeks.

All those marketers who are shouting to you that you can make money online really fast are either telling you to buy their product or they are just plain lying.

The TRUTH is no marketer has been the "happy-go-lucky" guy who's made money without enduring any pain or sacrificing some of their choices.

The TRUTH is "no pain no gain". If you'd hit the gym now, you will have to endure all the pain to grow your biceps and to get your self into shape.

The TRUTH is.. It takes a lot of effort and all those people telling you to just get hyped by some guru telling you making money online is darn easy - it isn't.

If you're a typical lazy marketer like me, sooner or later you will realize that making money online is really a tough thing to do if you're just starting out - it requires a lot of focus and hard work along with learning and implementation.

Fact is making money online is not for lazy people, just for people who want everything including more freedom and a luxurious lifestyle along with success.

All those marketers telling you that you can have more freedom right away are just telling plain ol' lies. Fact is you've to earn the freedom and it does NOT happen in a day. I got hooked up by some illusion that making money online is REALLY easy - the truth is making money online / offline is darn hard work and it includes that you dedicate all your time but success is not guaranteed.

I feel I may look for a part time job or something - probably or some assignments in SEO and link building for now while I do affiliate marketing. I am about to start learning SEO though I know the basics.

Working from home isn't so easy as there are distractions and other people in the house do find it uncomfortable seeing you working while they are resting. It's always good to keep your work and home separate in case you're living with parents or siblings.

I was offering a service which took away all the energy from me for very little money but now I feel I must have a product with a list that sells well online. And I must be an expert with a unique value proposition that sells my product fast online. But hey..

Often we land up as a jack of all (we want to be a master of all), master of none which lands us into trouble.

I did make my first $1000 commission from a recent launch but after seeing that affiliate marketing does not always get you sales and the commissions come after 60 days, I find it's safe to take a part time job to get my self moving.

So, if you're thinking life is all good online, it's not always so - I learnt it the hard way, honestly. Marketing online is NOT a lazy man's job as it's been said a 1000 times - NO, definitely NOT. If you''re thinking the illusion, I assure you that you won't succeed so fast.

          I know Martin that most people think making money online as a get rich quick scheme. It's all utter lies.

          Did any successful marketer tell you how many people is he employing to do all the work he could be doing? NO.

          Did any successful marketer tell you the number of man hour's needed to setup an online business? NO.

          Did anyone tell you the kind of work they did before they got the hyped up results? NO.

          People online are faking it and selling products only on the buzz and hype.

          If there is no buzz there won't be BIG volume sales online.

          An online business is just like any other offline business - not like you go to the bar and drink vodka while the money is pouring in your bank account. NOPE.

          Don't fool your self or let others fool you. Doesn't work that way! NO WAYS!

            You're right. To be successful making money online you must work hard and for a certain period of time, that depends how much free time you have to work on it and how focused you are.
            It is possible, thought, to build a online business that, in time, will allow you to have more freedom and more money to spend. But you outlined some essential point: it will require other people to work with/for you, it will require a lot of time and even some kind of financial investment.
            I believe that the majority of the people tries to find sort of a scheme to make money, they really are not building a business. That's why if you stop doing the hard work, even after being online for some time, your earning will drop abruptly. Basically you just have some make money schemes that will require all your effort and time to work. If you stop, even for a couple of days, your income will stop. So much for a dream life, huh?
            For people to succeed in online business, they must really setup a business. A business can function even when you're not there. And, in my opinion, that's the main secret of all the successful guys: they built business, not some schemes to make money.
            Keep faith, plan you business, and focus your efforts in building that business..

    I actually believe in thinking big. and getting rich quick is not easy but there are ways to do so and the information is out there. most that do know just like to keep it to them selves or create products that leave out those details. but Get rich quick is often a black hat marketing technique of some sort it seems.

    Yes that's true IM biz is the same as offline biz, is a real business, and we're dealing with real people, there is no way to get some $$ online if we are just doing nothing, it needs hard work and dedication to get to the level we want.

    Hey ronaksha,

    That's a great insight you got there. You know, when people tell you over and over to treat this like a business, then it's probably because it's true.

    I think a lot of people, like me, struggle with a lot of other things than the MARKETING part, simply because we had no business experience starting out.

    I actually think those with real world business experience CAN make money quite fast on the internet.

    I also think it's a great idea to get a job with a SEO company. I did that and I have learned a lot. I also work with one of the biggest affiliate marketers in the region and it's a golden opportunity to learn.

    SEO is a good business model for internet marketing btw, if you can get search engine traffic, then you have eyes on your website and if you have that, then you can sell them something.

    Your words are so true. I found after several years of struggling online that the easiest way to make money online was working hard for peanuts. Writing articles, doing other people's work which takes up all your time.

    Building a website is not for lazy people, nor is doing the marketing necessary to make the website a viable money making entity. The truth is that because the Internet makes instant wealth a possibility, we easily fall for the tons of BS that we are sold.

    I have been around the block a lot of times and I still read some of the skilled copywriters descriptions of quick wealth and my eyes gloss over. I know that it takes time and so much patience and endurance.

    But, would we really want it any other way. If it were really easy, we would not be grateful for the wealth that can be achieved. We would treat our business like a throw away paper cup. so, the work, the sweat, frustration and all are really worth it.

    Hang in there, Don't stop before the miracle happens. Your hard work is not in vain.

    I think we all can make money online fast but only if we have a targeted list of prospective customers who would buy from our email marketing lists.

    Every successful internet marketer keeps building a list of targeted leads they can sell their product to. The key to IM success is all hidden in the value you provide to your list.

    If people are going to buy from your list, you're going to succeed really fast.

    But it takes a whole lot of hard work to build your list. It doesn't happen in a day.

    Success happens gradually and step-by-step.

    If you can get rich quick, so can many people but does everyone get rich quick? NO.

    Believe me, stop lying to your self that making money online is a get rich quick scheme.
