List Building Secrets

So how does a newbie build a list economically? I know you are supposed to give something away for free in exchange for an address, but how do you get the traffic in the first place? Is there a good course that teaches this?

Trying to JV without a list is futile I have come to learn. Any course recommendations will be appreciated.

The getresponse autoresponder service has a good
way of getting leads through their service. You will be able to get leads fro about $0.42. But in your ads, make sure to only include the rich countries. In that way, at least your leads will be more valuable.

Adwords Content network can also be a good cheaper source for leads. When using it though, make sure to select suitable countries.

I know article marketing is popular for some people , but I have always found it very slow and not really worth my while.

First you are going to need an autoresponder...aweber or getresponse are the 2 most popular.

Yes the best way is giving away a good free report.

You can get free traffic by:

Posting good info on relevant forums (put your link in you sig...and don't spam)

      Write some articles

      blogging

there are lots of good ways...look around the forums here and you will find some great info...but....

The most important thing is to treat your list right!!!

Dont just go for numbers, build a loyal following...keep giving great info to your list...don't just use them to market to...build their trust...

I'm told that Frank Kern teaches "use PPC" in List Control. I'm not surprised, he uses PPC for every damn thing.

Now, as far as finding a good course in PPC... I'm no PPC genius. I keep planning to start learning PPC, but then I get scared and find something else I should do first.

But as far as learning anything about IM goes, start here. Check the forum, search for PPC threads, see what you can find. Once you have found everything you can in the main forum, go into the War Room and check there. Do not go to the WSO forum until you are absolutely certain you have learned everything you can from the War Room.

It gets easier as you go along. You reach a point where your already-existing sites have enough traffic moving through them, you just go onto those and post links to your new site - and traffic just automagically flows past your squeeze page and onto your list. The hard part is when you're new and still have to drive the traffic onto the page, often kicking and screaming.

Thank you CDarklock, Marc and others.

I have a product and it is making a sale every other day all from affiliates. It sells at $77. Affiliates bring me about 100 visitors a day on average.

I am trying to build a list in order to be in a position to JV with other people in my niche. I realized the importance of lists after an affiliate made me $1,500 in one day after he sent an email to his small list. I now that is nothing to most in this forum, but that was incredible to me.

All of Frank Kern's stuff that are to help poor people make money seems to be $1000 plus. Way out of my budget. I would put it on a credit card if I new 100% that it was worth it.

I can find a highly regarded course for everything in IM be it adsense, Copywriting, affiliate marketing, SEo etc. But after searching for some time now, I can not find any definitive course for List Building, even though list building is considered to be the most important part of IM. How odd.

Are you using an exit capture to try and build a list from the visitors to your page who do not buy?

If you could convert some of those 100 to subscribers you'd grow a list quite quickly.

That is far from "nothing" to most of the people here.

All of Frank Kern's stuff that are to help poor people make money seems to be $1000 plus.
The problem with Frank Kern's stuff is primarily that he generally assumes you have a few hundred bucks to throw at every step along the way.

I know a couple people who have taken List Control, and one of them was talking about how Frank's cousin Trey started up a PPC campaign to build his list with a monthly budget of "only" $2,000.

Now, deep down, I know this is a calculated risk. I know that Trey is doing the math and saying "I know my offer will convert well enough to pay for this."

But I'm not just doing the math, I'm looking at the calendar and thinking about when I get my affiliate commissions and when I have to pay my AdWords bill, not to mention all the other bills and when they need to be paid.

I don't have $2k in my pocket to risk, and I just plain don't want to throw the dice on that one. I think Frank and Trey have kind of lost touch with the "poor people," and in general, I think Frank's products should be considered when you can not only pay the price tag - but also keep about $5k or so in your pocket to make the course happen.

Which isn't huge, really, I mean an investment of under $10k to start a reliable business in a matter of months? Compare that to franchise fees, and it's a no-brainer. But when you're struggling financially, even if your credit card can take the hit, it's not the only hit you have to be prepared for.

If I may ask, how many articles do you write and submit.
And also, how much traffic do you receive from those articles? Such real stats would be very helpful.

I read in this forum that affiliates hate exit or entry captures. So in an effort to gain more affiliates to promote my product, I decided not to use such pop-ups or pop-unders.

I also heard from this forum that Google Adwords hates such pop-ups. If i were to use PPC traffic, how can one escape being banned by Adwords if you sue such pop-ups/pop-unders?

I also read in this forum that a sales page should have only one purpose. Either to capture emails, get a sale or something else. Giving to many options on a sales page leads to failure.

As you can see, that is why I am looking for a good List Building course. There is so much conflicting advice for a newbie. It is difficult to know what is really good and what is not. Testing everything is expensive, so it is not possible to test everything on a limited budget.

      @CDarklock,
I received your PM. Thank you very much.

Yeah, I agree that you don't want to do "too many" things on a sales page, but sometimes capturing a lead on a sales page (that has a good follow up sequence) can help the prospect with their decision to buy.

I do recommend having a killer offer that you can give for free. Most JV partners with a list would not hesitate to hook their list up with awesome free stuff, so craft it right

I never thought of webinars as a list building method. I always saw it as a sales method. Thank you for your link.

I agree with CDarklock. Since you're here start from here. I'm so sure there are ample amount of information that you'll get here in every search as there are a lot of gurus or even notable newbies participating in.

Alternatively, I recommend the ShoeMoney System from JohnChow.com -- one of those courses that taught me about PPC and affiliate marketing as well which all started with strategies in building your lists and providing value.
