Internet Marketing Giveaways are the leads worthwhile?

Hey guys, For years there have been IM giveaways most of them junk but from time to time good ones.

Basically a bunch of IM guys get together giveaway some cool stuff in trade for peoples email. All the IM gurus email to there list there by getting 5-10 gurus all emailing to the site and people swapping emails and the client getting good product for free.

Anyway my question is to those of you who have done it.......

Are the leads that you get any good?

I know they are freebies etc.. But was curious if they are worth much after you mail to them for a little while etc...

Anyone take part in one and have thoughts they can share?

The thing about these is getting lots of subscribers
    in shortest time possible.

On my last giveaway I got 350 new subscribers in just a couple of days.

Ofcourse, most of them maybe freebie seekers, but even if all of them
are freebie seekers, I still have 350 fresh leads that I can use anyway
    I wish...

So, it's a win-win anyways, even if you don't make any money at all

it's hard to gage...you really have nothing to lose by doing one...you may end up with a totally unresponsive list...you may end up with a handful of loyal buyers. I have participated in a few in the past and have seen mixed results.

But honestly for the little time it takes, I have always found it worth it.

I think they are good for as long as you work hard at building a go relationship with them, by giving them good quality information that helps them and not just abusing them by promoting your products.

That way you build credibility and if they see that you know what you are talking about and can prove it, with the backing of other people (testimonials), they will trust you and buy from you.

Do you think if it didn't work, those gurus would be doing it? You need to see this, I have heard most experts expert teach just that.

I don't participate in many giveaways anymore but it's an easy way of building a list so it's a good start. But as others have said it's what you do with that list afterward that makes the difference.

I agree that the quality is not as good. Nothing beats a list of subscribers made up of customers.

It's also important to use quality gift (ideally something you've created or if using PLR re-write it and make it your own). It will separate you from most other contributors. Or just interview an expert. A 20 minute interview delivered as an MP3 is a great contribution so you'll get more subscribers and you'll begin building a good relationship from the get-go vs. delivering a zipped file of 50 PLR ebooks that have been doing the rounds online forever.

I've often thought of participating, but was always worried about the quality of the leads generated, and it always seems that to be able to participate properly you need to buy an "upgraded" account from the giveaway organizer otherwise you wouldn't really benefit.

Can you use Giveaways successfully without incurring the upgrade costs?

Picked up 3,100 new subscribers in 3 days the last time I ran this, while generating a ton of goodwill in the marketplace:

            Free Sports Giveaways

You just gotta shuffle the people who you do it with, so you're not just recycling the same subscribers.

Sorry if this makes too much sense.

If you ask 100 IMers what their opinion is about giveaways it will probably split straight down the middle. But I will guarantee you the only way that it will be worth it is 100% based on the relationship you build after the giveaway.

If you throw promotion after promotion at them you will be lucky to have a double digit open rate much less any kind of converstion rate on the promos.

If you start by giving away something of high value and follow it up with more free stuff of just as high value (related to the original giveawy product) then after time you should see some pretty good results.

    Hello,
I have seen in some of the emails that promote giveaways that they will tell you to sign up with a junk email address to avoid all of the spam.
