Who is to blame? Aweber or Hotmail? This is starting to P'''S me off...

So let me make something clear - this is not one of
those "I hate..." threads.

But I can't help getting annoyed after paying for a
premium level service with claims of 99% delivery
rate...

...when my legit, spam assassin score green light
passed emails are going straight to the junk folder.

The email has a red warning at the top saying...

"The sender of this email could not be verified"

Yes, that's with:

- Double opt in
- No spammy words in the email (such as f.ree, guaranteed etc)
- Use of a legit email from address
- No html or images

What more do I have to do?

Is this just the sad reality of email marketing tools today?

I really, really hope not.

P.S - I actually contacted their support team and they
told me after testing the emails that they aren't getting
any problems.

I'm seeing the problem in Hotmail...is THAT the root cause?
If so, that's a lot of people who are gonna be missing my
emails if this continues.

What's your take on it?

Your domain name could be blacklisted for some reason.

If so, the domain in your email, or in the links you place in the email, could be flagging Hotmail.

This, btw, is just a guess.

Chances are the problem lies with Hotmail. That's why so many won't allow sign-ups using that service. I used to use Hotmail and even when you try to whitelist something, Hotmail still sends it to the spam folder when they feel like it.

That might be a reverse DNS error message - where the email server tries to confirm the senders domain name before the email is delivered. Try sending an email to yourself, and check the headers to make sure they contain all the right information.

Hotmail is flaky about email anyway. When people register on my forum, a lot of time hotmail will not deliver the activation email, so they are never able to confirm their account. At one time I had to deny new members from being able to use hotmail addresses.

These are my concerns. Hotmail has HUGE market share of email, so there's gonna be a lot of losses through this problem.

      S:confused:

Oh well, that's part of the process I guess.

    Nick,

A short while ago myself and my mentor were having the same problems getting our e-Mails through to subscribers, using hotmail and msn e-Mail address.

It turned out that both e-Mail programs had major changes made to the "back office". Which caused many legitimate e-Mails to go directly to the Spam folder or not being delivered at all. This became so bad my mentor called Microsoft directly and discussed the problem.

My mentor had to do some changing to our e-Mail script to become more compliant with the changes msn and hotmail had made. It has taken a couple of months but now we are back on an even keel.

    Nick,

The issue could very well be any number of things, but my first
inclination would be the content and topic of your emails fall
into a category that is widely spammed and probably not liked
very much by ISPs. You can do everything above board but if
you're sending emails in a category segment that Hotmail frequently
sees problems with then they are going to be much less likely
to deliver those emails to the inbox.

    Just one thought.
