Yes I dropped a niche, yes I started over, yes I refreshed my stats page 10 times, yawning. lol

I went from a niche that I picked strategically about something I don't know much about to something that excites me, inspires me and that I enjoy working on every day.

    That's about it

      Louise has it right...

So... what's got you turned ON... whatever it is, start thinking of ways to profit from it.

In fact, state on this thread what topics or niches interest YOU, and maybe one of us will come up with a strategy for you.

I'm with Louise. I have a list of about 25 niches that interest me and develop them one at a time then move on. Each inspires me for a few days. But more important, each niche has high traffic or I can get to the core niche much easier than anyone else.

I feel ya with the pennies thing but I can always keep the goal in sight (automation once it is in place).

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

And suck another newbie into what he is? Not trying to be offensive but the guy himself is broke right now and looking for ways to make money.

I am yet to be successful in IM but If you are working from 7 am to 8 pm everyday and didn't get a result I guess it's time to find a new niche to focus on.

I'd suggest providing a service of your own.

While I am sure he was being facetious, I laughed, the reality is you see that kind of thing all the time. Thread title "How do I get traffic?" in the posters sig? "How to drive tons of traffic to your site in 24 hours!" Thread title "what niche should I pursue?" in the posters sig? "How to pick your niche and make millions!"

When the posters get some questions it becomes obvious they are clueless. So the part that makes me sigh is that so many people are trying to market stuff they haven't tried or they have tried and it doesn't work but they keep right on trying to sell it.

So I found his post a pointed and chuckle worthy commentary on the overall state of this business.

Not every one wants to learn how to make money online. Some our looking for a idea to get started with. Maybe they are looking for a product or products. Maybe they want to sell on ebay. Maybe they do want to be the next millionaire internet marketer. But you never know until you ask them what they truly want. If they buy your product they may just want to do that. Unfortunately your product never asked them what they wanted or hoped to accomplished from you product.

I know you were asked the question what interests you, but the better question is what are you passionate about? That is a problem I have so I am not going to say I have a solution but it generally goes for those who achieve success and greatness in that they are persistent at what they are passionate about.

From your list of interests on the face of it they appear to be selfish interests. To quote Zig Ziggler "Give the people what they want and you will get what you want"

I have my own priceless spiritual beliefs which I will share with anyone interested for free and I do not believe in making merchandise of people in order to tell them the Truth.

Until you find your real passion, why not consider following a successful system of CPA,CPC,PPV etc. advertising which you can start earning from in very liitle time. When you find this successful you might want to continue with it for as long as it takes to find your passion or develop other lines of interest until one really resonates with you and you become successful.

Yes, when your doing the same thing over and over
    expecting different results.

When you set up a system, you want to do the work
ONCE, and let the system run on auto-pilot while you
do regular maintenance and check-ups and updates
    on your system.

For example, I'm working on a project now that will
make me a millionaire in about a year to two years,
    but the catch is...

it takes WORK, PERSISTENCE, AND EFFORT to pull it
off. It's not "creating" itself, and I love the creative
process, especially when you KNOW it' will bring in
    residual income when done right.

have you ever DROPED your niche and started over?

Yes. To many times that I care to share on this forum or
with anybody. I can't imagine very many people who
haven't done this atleast once before finding the niche
    that works for them.

Have you ever felt like you are working like a F slave from 7 am till 8pm and making pennies?

No. The only time I really felt that way was when I was
working a 9 to 5 or dealing with commute. It's slavery
when you have to wait in line like everybody else at the
stop light to put food on the table tonight.

That's slavery. Working because I CHOOSE to, when I
want to, on my terms...now THAT'S freedom.

well thats how i am feeling.

What point do you actually drop what you are doing and start over ?

    I DON'T!

I use momentum to learn what works, what doesn't, and
combine the experience and skills and knowledge to make
    magic happen.

Only when you truly realize your at a dead end should you
stop what your doing. It's HARD to make the distinction
between a dead end and an opportunity just waiting to
explode. Because, you can make the mistake and quit a
good thing, or make the mistake and continue doing some-
thing that will never work..for you.

It's a thin line, and only practice, gut feelings, and skill can
    fix this.
Pretty good topic man, but don't let this game beat you up.

Don't be like most and throw in the towel. Please, hang in
there. You'll do fine. Keep it moving.

      Ditto!

you have 1 thing wrong though, its a GOAL not a dream, a dream you have in your sleep, a goal is something you shoot for.

Calling it a dream makes it sound like some kind of supernatural pie in the sky idea, a goal is achievable.

Let me give you a good piece of advice.

Think hard before deciding whether you should stop what you're
doing and start over or not.

I did that a lot of times when I was new. Most of the time I did
it because I tought about something, or read about something
    that sounded better and easier.

Looking back I realize that everytime I stopped doing what I was
doing was a mistake. Almost every business grows over time. If
I hadn't killed those businesses, right now, I would have more
    income streams.

There are different online business approaches that have met with success, including:
-- churning out a multitude of sites to serve a multitude of niches, expressly to collect lots of pennies which add up.
-- creating high-quality niche sites with original content and driving traffic to them, monetizing with affiliate links.
-- setting up a review site, with quality product reviews since web users often want to review a product or service before buying it.
-- Putting up a website that features an ebook or application for sale, then driving traffic to it.
-- Creating a niche membership site and generating enough captivating topics that people join and get into forum conversations and create the content for you.
-- Web-flipping: developing and selling websites

When anyone has made money with any of the above methods or one not mentioned here, they will swear by it. Let's say it was guitars vs pianos vs jazz vs mariachi vs scuba diving. Starting to get confused? Good.

Finding the right niche can be very tricky. When you are just starting out, people recommend writing about your passion/interests. This only works if you have researched the topic and have 1) lots of ready, desperate buyers and 2) enough traffic to make it worth your while. If you don't have these criteria met, doesn't matter how much you enjoy the topic.

Good piece of advice above. You need the self-discipline to keep drilling on it. Especially when it comes to internet marketing. People are jumping from one thing to another wwway to easily.

Action-> analysis/assessment of results -> changing/improving what's not working- > action. And the cycle never ends.

Never drop a niche. Add new ones. If it's not productive now put it in slow growth organic mode and move on to greener pastures. Come back 6 months to a year later and revisit the niche.

Oh, I've been in that boat before. I was once so swamped with article writing clients that as soon as I got done with everyone's orders, I took a break... a LONG break. I recently started again, but instead of paying another $20 for a Warriors for Hire ad, I figured, "It's in my signature, if someone needs something they'll come find me." So far it's working - I still get requests but I'm no longer overloaded.

    Anywho...

I'm taking a different approach now. Not to toot my own horn, but people tell me I'm a good writer, so one very rainy day I thought to myself, "You know what, I like writing, apparently other people like my writing, I've had success writing articles but I'd really like to move from selling services to selling products. How about this..." Now I'm constructing a unique PLR pack (written 100% by yours truly). This opens several doorways - I could use it to build a list, start a membership site, etc. - but that's thinking way too far into the future right now. Right now, my concern is getting this PLR pack finished and ready to go. Once I see a bit of success from it, I'll say, "Great!" and start another one. On and on.

Moral of the story? Figure out what you're good at (or apparently good at) and put a spin on it so it plays to your strengths. As for your niche, figure out 1.) something you are interested in or at least know about and 2.) something people pay big money for. I've got two niches in mind - one very competitive, "proven" moneymaker niche, and another passionate niche that isn't as common but has a solid market. (Right now, though, that's too far in the future for me until I get this PLR stuff out there.) Don't overcomplicate it or overthink it, just figure out the A-B-C's of it and get going. Good luck.

I think when we really talk internet failure we need to be sure that we are talking about people who truly failed. The entry threshold is so low many never really try to survive like you do if you are a brick and mortar business. It's too easy to just walk away from an internet business to be sure all failures are real failures. I bet if the entry threshold were higher we'd see numbers closer to the offline ones.

Never give up. Baby steps every single day, day-in and day-out, is the key IMHO.

Focus on a winning business model.

Stick with it. Take breaks. Go for walks when you get frustrated. But keep tinkering.

I once read in "Psycho-Cybernetics" that peak human achievement can be best likened to a torpedo released into the water.

How does it catch its moving target, which is doing its best to evade a direct hit?

It makes adjustments, readjustments and modifications in speed, angle, depth etc....but overall it remains on the same course, slowly weaving back and forth, making corrections until it hits its mark.

    So it is with IM.

To give up on any method that is found within a winning business model before then is to be the torpedo that stops spinning its propeller 500 meters from victory.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

If you're not getting the results you want, change how/what you're doing until you do.

I've been through about 30 different niches. Everything from koi ponds, to golf, to photography, to making money online... It wasn't until I finally decided on a MARKET that I enjoyed that I started really making money, and developing offers that I could cross promote and build upon..

And THAT is when you actually start making money.

    What Louis said...

Also David makes a great point. I'm not sure whether you 'got' his distinction and I believe Louis probably meant the same thing too.

It's not about looking for something 'interesting', it's about looking at what you fundamentally care about and are passionate about.

For example. You mentioned 'Self Improvement'.

That's just a generic term that could mean a thousand things, all of which depend on where, how and when you're referring to.

If it's just an interest - that's not what we're talking about.

If you have a child with self-esteem problems and you're passionate about understanding how to help them and provide that help to other parents in a similar situation - that's a different story.

You need to get involved in something that you would love to be doing even if there was no money. Something that you have a deeper reason to care about. Something that you will turn the TV off to take action towards. Something you love to do.

If you're spending the majority of your time doing things you don't enjoy just for the money - you're unlikely to be highly successful.
