What are Some New Ways to Promote my Free Product?

Hello,

I've been in internet marketing for a while but only Recently I started trying to build my list(didn't want to do it previously to avoid being sidetrack and keeping up with all the new trends which usually set you up wtih half completed project before you hop to another new trend but now trying to sell my product about Facebook fans and Social bookmark I thought this would fit in well) after hearing the importance of lists in internet marketing and having a FBML Code I bought a while back with giveaway rights sitting unused.

So I went ahead to register for an aweber account and started with the giveaway using a squeeze page provided by another warrior Gavin.

I didn't know much about list building so I just tried it with forums posting it in freebies section of forums being active on forums with my signature link.

However I think I'm starting to exhaust this method for myself. It has gotten me a good 100 within 5-7 days but now the subscribe rate is starting to slow down and reduce even further.

I'm just wondering what other alternatives do I have besides the regular forums? I'm also ranking well for the term Viral FBML but I only get one hit from that so SEO is out of the question.

I'm trying to arrange adswaps but most people have their list in the thousands so my 100 doesn't mean much to most people.

Thanks in Advance for any Suggestions.

I'm getting about 10%-50% at certain days.
I'm trying out with different versions to see what converts best but considering my scale is so small I can't really get an accurate estimate which is why I'm trying to find alternates ways to promote this.

Ok when I began split-testing Squeeze pages etc I used PPV traffic not saying this is the way to go or the best thing to get an accurate measure but for me I gathered enough data, conversions and responses to make sensible judgements regarding my opt-in pages and such.

Thanks, I think I need to slip test my squeeze pages. I'm trying to find a balance between adequate information and keeping it concise.
Sorry is it possible for you to tell me the PPV network you used?

      Hmm,
I'm using aweber to manage the subscribes but I see what you mean I tested it out and I didn't get a confirmation link as well which probably attributed to my lower subscribe rate.

      Edit:
Just got the email. It seems to be working?

        1. Write a press release announcing that your free product is now available on your website (or wherever).
        2. Optimize it using keywords that will attract your target market.
        3. Include anchor links to the site you want to promote.
        4. Submit it to free distribution sites like PRLog.org, PressZoom.com or PRFocus.com.

You can also try doing a Google search for 'press release distribution' + 'your niche market keyword' (whatever it is). You might find a free distribution site that targets your specific niche market.

        Good luck on your promotion!

There is a warrior offer somewhere here that will teach you how to do send press releases to a lot of PR sites. From the customer reviews, it seems to be working well. Go to the WSO section and do a quick search.

Wow, That's a very interesting method. Most probably will get more return for my work as well compared to regular article writing.

My site is already optimized to keywords related to it and already ranking well for the keywords so now I'm trying to focus on what other possibilities there are.
      Thanks!

If you've got a free product then you should try posting to forums dedicated to special deals. SlickDeals.net comes into mind.
Don't quote me on this but I believe they have over 50,000 members.
Iam just learning the potential of forum marketing (I always dismissed it as something people with too much free time did but I was wrong).
The people on these sites are looking for cheap deals and free things so it can be a way of getting peoples attention. Whether they will become customers willing to pay for higher priced items down the line is something you'll have to find out yourself.

        Good luck

Oh ok Thanks, I've tried to post them on im forums however I never considered a free deals forums!

Yeh I use to thought so too until I realized the amount of traffic I could receive from forums not to mention the backlinks.

I'm getting about 40 hits per day to my opt in site from just forums. I also rank front page on google for Viral FBML and most other variations of it.
          Thanks for your advice

Your facebook fan page scripts are out of date. Maybe you should consider making a 'Like' image for the 1st. step.

Also, are these 3 step scripts very short-lived now on FB? I hear they get taken down before they do any good.

    Hi humbledmarket,

for a squeeze page, the best way to get traffic that converts (besides
having an affiliate program) is with ad swaps and JV giveaways in my
    experience.

You don't need a big list to do adswaps.. all you need is to make the
JV a win-win. You can approach another marketer with an offer like this...

"if you email my offer to your list of XXX thousand, I can send out to my
list of 100 twice PLUS advertise your offer on my thankyou page permanently,
have your offer in my autoresponder permanently, and if that's not enough,
I'll write you a sales letter, 5 articles and a short report...AND when my list
grows to 1000, I'll send out for your offer. how about it?"

Just because you can't reciprocate right away with an email to the same
number doesn't mean you can't do adswaps.

    good luck!

I have a big problem here.

You are pitching a free product advertising how to get rich
with a viral marketing method.....yet you are on here asking how to get traffic.

If the info you are giving away really works....why don't you use it yourself?

Claiming to have a great traffic method...but being unable to get enough traffic........seem to be a bit of a paradox to me?

      Am I wrong here?

        Yes, good point helisell.

I have a free ebook that I give away called list building strategies and I use all of the methods in it and get results from them.

My experience with traffic generation is that there is no one method (that I've found so far) that will do that trick by itself.

It takes a specific, strategic, consistent combination of methods that will generate traffic. I have some favorites but I do many at the same time.

        Articles
        Videos
        Adswaps

One of the first that got me started with my list was joining and participating in the giveaway events.

One of my favorites that is not an avalanche but extremely consistent is the banner ad campaigns on Google's content network (they just changed the name to "Display" network) It's not free but it's very inexpensive compared to the search network. Costs me pennies to get opt-ins every day. Love it because I don't have to do something with it every day.

I'm thinking of doing a WSO with a video showing how and a guide. Anyone think there would be interest on it?

        Thanks,
        Sally

          Hello,
The product I'm offering isn't a guide it's a tool for them to use. It's an add on to a facebook page which can help with getting traffic to your site while helping your fan page grow however as you can imagine not many facebook users are internet marketers thus it would be hard to implement that method to facebook itself.

Not to mention my lack of experience with this however amazingly I managed to get 200+ visitors/month through my SEO efforts.

Post to at least 5 forums a day, consistently. Add article marketing, write and submit at least 1-2 articles per day, then submit it to at least the top 10 article sites. You can also do blog commenting to at least 20-30 blogs in your niche, be very active everyday and interact with other people as well. make sure to put valuable and useful comment not just "great post", "thanks for sharing this", or "nice post. keep it up" type of post.

Another thing you can do to accelerate your list building activity is to make a "guest blog posts". Contact at least 10 blog owners and ask them if they would like to have you as a guest blogger. Provide them with a sample of your article that you would like to post to on their blogs. Once they say yes, submit them a copy of your article, some blog owners will ask you to not post your article to any sites once they accept your post, because they want it to be exclusive to them only. If you see a comment on your guest post, make sure to interact with the commentators as well, provide them useful replies. Guest posting is one of the effective ways to build a very responsive list. Do this at least once a week and you will see the result.

By doing the methods that I just mentioned here, it really helps me to build my list. Currently, I'm adding 7-12 subscribers a day, consistently. It's not bad considering that the methods that I'm applying are not costing me any amount of money. Once you have 300-500 subscribers, time to do some ad swap and your own affiliate program to exponentially grow your list.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks but the issue I found was that majority of facebook users are not interested in a tool that can help them go viral. These appeal more to marketers.

However not many people want to have a viral fan page on facebook itself.

Thanks Gary for the tips. I'm doing most except the guest blogging and article writing. What I've done was optimize my site and SEO it so far I have quite good success about 200 hits from search engines ranking for key competitive terms. I've also done a lot of forum posts which I notice helps a lot especially on forums like such.

    You still can use different

    article directories,
    press release sites,
    video distribution sites,
    document sharing sites

to distribute your content and attracting more traffic to your squeeze page with the help of great content and call of action.

Just try it for a month and compare the results. Eliminate the ineffective ones and maximize your efforts on the working sources...

Wait actually that's a good suggestions to comment inquires about how to gain fans to fan pages this seem to be a common question. I'm sure it'll help a lot.

But the thing about me is my mentality is that such efforts only reach to 2 or 3 so does it really pay off?

  • To turbo charge your opt-ins become a JV contributor. Also be sure to add a complimentary upsell product on the page presented after the user opts in.

You can take a peek at New JV Giveaway Events for a list of JVs that are open to contributors. I am sure their are other sites as well that provide such a list. This was the first I found when doing a quick search on Google.

There is also http://www.jvnotifypro.com/ which I understand quite a few Warriors utilize as well.

    google: viral list machine

That'll help you get more out of each subscriber. Although its a bit of a pain to fully install and stuff...but its worth it. How it works:
    Subscriber opts in.

They get a referal link, if they refer "x" amount of people, they will unlock another special bonus.
The beauty of this is, it'll only unlock if the people they refer double opt-in.

So just drive traffic to this page, and with any luck, the viral aspect of this software, will build your list for you much quicker, so make sure you're offering something really good as the lead and a valuable bonus for them to refer people to your page.

    So best of luck.
