Fantastic results !: 100 articles submitted to Ezine Articles last month

Sorry to disappoint but the results are totally disappointing and I need your input. After submitting just about 98 articles to Ezine articles(refused to submit the last 2) for the last month( 7 popular niches ), I am yet to get a single dollar from this investment.

I took my time and did keyword research , used a resource box that stated that if the potential subscriber go to my blog they will receive a free ebook and a 7 day ecourse .I also got ideas for titles by looking at titles in EZA that were in the most viewed and used power words in the titles such as You, best, secret, discover etc.

My click thru rate was about 10%. Prior to this my articles had an average CTR of 37% with one article still having a 64% CTR. I am a bit baffled by the low optin rate to my blog and no sales but not totally discouraged. Previously I wrote my own articles but this time I use a WSO. I think that the articles were of a very high standard. I have 12O articles that I have written on paper before acquiring dragon NS and now wondering how best to utilise them.

Here's my plan to rectify this situation and tell me if it is feasible for the next 24 days. Any suggestions will be appreciated

Submit Rss feeds from EZA to Top- RSS sites- Finished
Ping EzA using Pingomatic- 5% completed
Put articles on the 7 wordpress blogs-To be completed
Created 100 videos and will submit to video sharing sites- 100 videos completed
Yet to Submit articles to top 10 article directories excluding EZA using submission software
To Submit articles as Press Releases to top 20 sites-using submission software
Submit 100 articles to docstoc and slide share
Social Bookmark Eza articles, rss etc each to 40 sites - 10% completed
Submit articles to top 20 web 2.0 sites using submission software
Submit 7 websites to over 400 directories- Completed
I have also used several services from warriors in the last month but the return on investment have been extremely poor . I will not mention the service providers but the services were very expensive with detailed reports in excel , some with submissions REPORTS taking over 10,000 rows in excel! The problem is, these wso's only generated a trickle of visitors to my websites. They included substantial press releases, blog commenting, senuke submissions, forum posting, backlinking etc etc etc, etc.

    Maybe this is you problem.

I noticed you mention you want to do videos. I have only done a few and on the one I did on weight loss I found it on so many autoblog sites it is amazing. I think it is wp-robot people use that add them to the blog. Remember to show your URL in the video as when these videos are pulled from video site they don't show any link as it only take the video and not the description.

I do not think so because it was the incentive to join my list. And I do have these in my autoresponder already

I don't do article marketing yet, but shouldn't you just try to get them to your site? Don't try to sell them on the article is what I'm thinking... just write good content and then get them to click wanting more... then they find out they need to pay for more!

I did not try to sell them, only to entice them to join my list. The "sell" is in the autoresponder series and the links in the ebook

Like I said this is your problem - get them to your site first and let them then decide. If you site offer good content they will subscribe. Your "sell" is the "entice"

Why try to get them to join your list from the Ezine page?? Let your sales page do that. I'm no expert on this, but those are my thoughts. Maybe I'm missing something.

I would agree, leave the selling and convincing to your sales page. Use the article as a primer to get them to your site.

You can update the articles right?? Not all time is waisted.. The whole point to the articles is getting targeted traffic. Put together a cool sales page and you're golden, man.

Let me know how it goes! I want to get some article marketing done for a cool site we're doing.. mostly for the SEO benefits though, but this targeted traffic is looking awesome.

      Hi Giggle

You can really take what Alexa says seriously - she is one savvy lady! Brains and good looks! You already success with your own articles - go back analyze them and apply them to the other ones. Trust your instincts and gut feeling. Forget what the guru's do or say!

IMHO it seems like you're attempting to "crack it" in to many niches at once - like already mentioned try and dominate 2 (at the most 3) at a time and get to know your audience. It seems like you've lost touch with your buyers (no offense).

      BASIC SOS STRATEGY

      - Is all your links working properly (site and EZA) check them out
      - Check all the stuff on your blog and check your aff links and all the stuff Alexa pointed out

You have some awesome ideas on how to promote them further, but I would start off by opening up a spreadsheet with the following data (if you have not done so already)

KEYWORDS ARTICLE TITLE VIEWS CTR RESOURCE BOX HTML CODE DATE EDITED DATE RE SUBM DATE APPR

Then I will dissect each article and have a look at the following:

      - Is the keyword you want to target in the article title
      - Does the article start with a question or make the reader curious
      - Do they have a compelling intro paragraph
      - Does the article title deliver on what is promised in the article body
      - Do the article give too much info and there is no "enticement/curiosity" for the reader to learn more
      - Is it easy to read and "pleasing on the eye"
      - Is there paragraph headings
      - Is the paragraphs not longer than 5 sentences
      - Does the resource box sucks?
      - Do you use the same resource box for all the niches/articles (very bad, very very bad)
      - Each niche is different and needs a different approach re resource box
      - Do you entice the reader to continue "reading" further than the
last paragraph (sometimes, depending on the niche it is advisable
to make your resource box an extension of your article)
      - Do they have a compelling (longer) article title on can you hype it up a bit without overdoing it
      - I've experienced that longer resource boxes tends to convert better

You can easily go through 5-10 articles a day and do the necessary changes. Nowadays EZA allows you to edit your article while the original still stays live. Check it thoroughly, preview it, check the links and then resubmit. Your "old" article will then be replaced by the re-edited, re-submitted article within 2-3 days.

You can even take the "old" articles before you change them and submit to GOA or Articlesnatch for some serious backlinks. Change the title and resource box and voila! Done

      Best of luck!

I can't help wondering whether you're necessarily doing the right thing in trying to do all this for 7 different niches at the same time. Might it not be more helpful to try with one or two of them first, until you find something which appears to work for you, which you can then quickly try to "rinse and repeat" without putting all this energy 7 times over into something whose outcome is still so uncertain at the moment?[/QUOTE]

Based off what you posted (98 articles submitted for 7 popular niches) I estimate that you have about 14 articles working on behalf of each niche. Unfortunately that is not enough to really make a dent with each niche unless you have the perfect storm for each article.

Ideally, you would have wanted all 98 articles working on behalf of one niche with 7 different resource boxes being used because then you could draw some conclusions from the data they provide.

About how long were your articles? Maybe the CTR was low because the articles were to long or provided to much informtion or were not exciting enough for the readers.

When you use a resource box that starts with something like "if you want more information" you are leaving it up to the reader to make a decision by posing a question to them.

Nobody likes to answer questions, especially if they spent a long day at work getting harassed or have one of their small kids contantly calling out for mommy or daddy.

Instead you tell the reader what to do with some powerful statements such as:

"Stop wasting time reading this and start losing weight by clicking here"

        or

"Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get your ex back now by clicking here"

        or

"Stop getting embarrassed in the gym and learn to grapple like a UFC champ by clicking here"

Those are some pretty weak examples but I think you get the idea I am trying to convey.

One final note, right now you have to many variables to accurately determine what the actual problem is. You need to isolate some of the factors involved and then work through them one at a time.

        Respectfully,
        Tim

I agree with the others here that your resource box could be your problem. Anyone reading an article doesn't want to have to sign up to something. They just want something to help them with their problem. So you should be getting them to your site with the promise that they will get something more from you not that they will have to sign up to something. This turns a lot of people off.

@Alexa Smith - Thanks for that breakdown, alot of ideas to think about in that post.
Also regarding your resource box, I use my article marketing as a tool to get users just to VISIT my website, at the point when I publish the article that is my main goal. Nothing else but create enough reason in my article and my resource box to entice another viewer to my website. As Alexa said, If you have a complete strategy just to target the 7 niches all at once you are somewhat wasting time as you may have done with these 100 articles.

Attempt and reform some of them perhaps 1 in each niche and re-think the strategy of promoting the opt-in via the article; do the opt-in promotion on site. Throughout your article refer to "More information" if you click the link below type method.

Anyone else have a different take on the last paragraph in terms of getting the users clicking?

    Hi Warriors:
Correction here. In the resource box, I state " if you want further information on "problem" then visit my blog at "website" where you will get a free ebook and tips to help solve problem"

      You forgot?

I wouldn't even mention ebook until they get to your site. Even before I knew to watch out for ebooks, adsense, and affiliate offers, I never wanted to go near an ebook.

I think a lot of people must be kind of like this. I'd just say something about find out more or read on... I don't know for sure though, I haven't really been into the article marketing yet... I just know I would never have followed a link for an ebook, but might have been tricked into it if the sign up box was right there...
