Marketing on facebook: Why use facebook page instead a unique account in facebook ?

Hello,
i'm newbie in marketing with facebook, my friend and i need a light regarding using facebook page or just stay with a unique account.

With a facebook account , i could add friends quickly and i could post a wall to promote something. (pro active)

While with facebook page, i only can suggest a page to the list of my friends, and i'm not able to 'hunt' my friend's friend with a page. so a facebook page is only wait.. can not be proactive

so what's the benefit of facebook page beside having an access from non facebook user ?

    veeco,

Facebook fan pages can be used moreso for branding and marketing pages. In this respect, simple unique user accounts are limited....

On a Facebook fan page, you also can receive important data and analytics about what occurs on your fan page.....how many interactions/comments posted in a given time frame, etc....

Fan pages can really be leveraged quite nicely to connect with people and brands.

You also get a nice keyword rich URL with a facebook page... not to mention the potential for it to take off in a viral way via people seeing the Mr Jones has just joined the page "blah blah" link that pops up on their page.

I have had good viral success making pages with catchy titles (containing the relevant keyword) and attractive graphics..

    good luck

We've been making unique user accounts per niche on Facebook. We've found that is you become to popular with too much traffic and Facebook flags you, you will lose the fan page. They flag you for things like....
    Redirecting to your web site
    Squeezing the users
    Selling a product
Trying to run a business from Facebook.
If you make a unique user it also lets you build a independent friends list for that niche. If you happen to get banned from one of the above mentioned offenses then it's simple enough to set everything back up. We have also noticed if you setup a Facebook PPC campaign they magically turn a blind eye. They'll let you club seals then.

Facebook won't flag your fan page because it is "too popular" or gains "too much traffic"....they flag you when you do something that is against their TOS.....

I think we have to make a distinction here between "unique user accounts" and fan pages....there is a difference....

wall promotions is very effective, especially if you have a lot of friends, which brings me to my question. What is the limit of friends you can have on FB?

Facebook pages have more customizable features compared to a regular account. As well, you are allowed to operate under your business name when you start a Facebook page.

I recently had an acquaintance get their Facebook account suspended because they were operating it for business purposes, without using a real name.

We have little success with Facebook marketing mainly because Facebook is not really an avenue for business but more for "socializing" - For me, nothing beats organic ranking.
