Keyword Competition question

I found a great niche I am passionate about and managed to snatch up an exact match .net domain for it. The keyword phrase gets almost 10,000 searches per day (Broad Match) and the number of competing pages is under 150,000. I took a look at the competition with Market Samurai and the top 4 or 5 sites are Wikipedia, Youtube and Yahoo answers. Obviously I'll never be able to surpass the backlink totals to those sites, but is that considered a good thing that the top ranking sites are ones like wikipedia, youtube, yahoo answers etc? The "regular" sites and blogs ranking at 6, 7, 8 etc. seem like they should be easy to overtake.

If you have the keywords in the domain name and you build a quality site, I think you COULD surpass Wikipedia and Yahoo Answers. I've done that easily multiple times.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I have a question to add here...If you update daily your blog or site, shouldn't it be easy to overpass those sites?

OK, cool. That's what I thought but wanted to be sure. And the non-"Big Boy" sites seem fairly easy to overtake.

If you have the exact keyword/phrase in your domain name half the battle is won. Notice when you do SEO Comp search with Market Samurai exact name domains often are in the top 3 positions with only a few backlinks.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Make a video, upload to YouTube and through backlinks at it so it's YOUR video that's showing above the other sites.

Go to Yahoo Answers and post answers to all open questions relating to your niche putting
a link to your site/blog as the source. Ask a question realated to your niche with a link
    to your site.

Now you don't have to outrank them (though you could) cause they will be sending you
    traffic anyway.

All excellent ideas. I am psyched, because those numbers look very good to me. A 2 word keyword phrase with 10,000 Google searches per day, reasonable competition and an exact match .net domain name. I think I'm in good shape with it

    hey there

You have found a great domain and that will help you rank faster if you use the exact keywords in your meta tags.

But also use it well in your web page(s).

Then of course, the all important backlinks. be sure to place your keyword(s) in your anchor text for your backlinks.

Please remember, If you do your SEO well then you will get on the first page along side those top ranking sites (youtube, wikipedia etc).

    I hope that helped

If you make your TITLE tag compelling and laser focussed to the
search term, you'll get people scan over sites like Youtube, as
they may not be interested in video, WIKI can be quite dry and
Yahoo answers can be beaten, even if you came in 4th , if
you're TITLE and Meta/Description are compelling enough you
could get a solid proportion of the search volume.

Wow. I just plugged this 2 word keyword into the free Wordtracker tool and it returns 13 searches. Is that daily? Monthly?

Google Adwords tool and Market Samurai say 300,000 monthly. Ummm. Can someone enlighten me here? Even "exact match" search totals in MS say 730 daily........
