My blog went from PR0 to PR3, alexa 99K, and over 8k Unique visitors a month! No PPC!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that getting targeted traffic to your blog with little to no money is possible. i just got out of the Army in January and started my blog this July 08. Since the launch of my blog I've gained a google PR3, Alexa rank of 99k, and well over 8k Unique visitors.

This is what I've been doing;

*Finding niche keyword phrases via google keyword tool.
*Writing posts around those phrases
**SEOing the posts with those phrases
*requesting blog backlinks (you will be amazed how many people are willing to link to you.)
*Providing quality content

I still have a lot more to learn! I just wanted to encourage you guys that there is hope for the newbie!

How have your sites turned out in 3 months time? Are you happ with your results in that timeframe?

Nice work. I'm doing the same with my blog but not pushing too much time. My blog is 2 weeks old and it went few spots up after launch only with:
- good domain name
- optimized posts
- a little bookmarking and link exchange

I've never been a big blogger, but I've set one up for my latest project.

I'm piling tons of money and resources into this site including the blog... I'm up to around 200 visitors per day but I'm really dissappointed with it so far - however, I am starting to see the domain creep up in the serps for some more favourable search terms - so I'm doing something right with it.

I'm just going to keep going.

Until it's getting a few thousand visitors per day, I don't feel I'll have done enough.

  Thanks for all the support! To answer some questions, this is what I did.
  
  To launch my blog I knew I needed exposure. I saw how on the DP forum there were logo contests. Well, I had the idea of throwing a blog comment contest. People would have to leave a genuine comment on a post, then report back on the forum where they commented. I would then record each person who commented and place their name in a bucket for a drawing. Once the contest expired, I then video reecorded the drawing and placed it on youtube. I then placed the link in the thread for everyone to verify the winner.
  
  I got a flood of traffic from this method that only cost me $25. I ran a total of 2 contests.
  
  I would then find other bloggers in the internet marketing/ Make money online niche to ask for back links. I was amazed by how many bloggers were willing to swap links!
  
  I then placed 2 articles on ezinearticles.com. I have not had the time to do any more articles but I do plan on writing more.
  
  I then found 2 bloggers who offered paid reviews on their blog. This was good because each of their blogs had a PR3 and it only cost me a total of $50 for two different blogs.
  
  So, since my launch back in July, I've spend a total of $100-$150 of advertising for my blog.
