Suggestion needed for a Conversion tracking software with Remarketing

Hi There,

I am planning to build a Conversion tracking software, ofcourse its not just another conversion tracker,

It will have some unique features such as:

Remarketing - engage your visitors who did not buy the first time
multi level click conversions (tracks multiple sales or rebuys from the same campaign)
recommendations on improving adwords, yahoo or msn

I would be needing your views on the project and what tool you are using currently?

and what features you want to be implemented?

Its a bit scary to think that your time spent on a webpage can be monitored to the point you can send a message to the visitor to read on the page being browsed " I see you have been looking at this page for a long time...."

However, to engage a visitor who did not buy the first time or rebuys from the same campaign; is that really possible from tracking software?

What if the same visitor is revisiting from different IP addresses? Unless you have their email address how do you contact that visitor and know it is the same visitor with tracking software?

I look forward to some enlightenment.

      David,

This is what is unique about the whole thing, we are planning to do this by identifying their device, so as long as they are going to come from the same PC (can be different browsers, IPs) we can track them and show appropriate messages

Ofcourse we need to convey this in the privacy policy

      Example:

Lets say a visitor visits your website for campaign which you are selling a ebook for $50, for some reason the visitor closes and he returns after a while, when he returns you show them a personalized message something like "Hey welcome back, we have a special officer for you!"

Let me know your thoughts on this

It is a nice idea but I am aware of this being done before by an Irish developement company and when they beta tested it....guess what happened as soon as they started to engage with there visitors? the visitors were actually scared away. Further investigations showed that visitors were worried if the site could do that then they could also be accessing there computers.

it all depends, how someone uses the technology. The plan is build a remarketing, this works only when someone leaves and revisits your website, doesnt nag the user

Users get irritated when marketers use certain nagging methods, however this is similar to what google uses in their view through conversion

Let me know how does a conversion tracker, which can track campaigns in PPC networks, Media buys, social media etc , in short anything where users clicks to enter a website work with some advanced and unique feature such as remarketing?

    Let me know your thoughts!

Do all internet marketers use third party conversion tracking software? or just stick on to tools given by adwords?

I think Yahoo might be identifying my desktop PC. When I use my laptop, I have to sign in; when I go to my desktop and connect to Yahoo I am automatically signed in. I have to renew my login say every 30 days.

Like mobile phones which have a unique manufacturer's number, I suppose the PC could have a unique signature like when you are given a keycode to a piece of software designed to run on the PC it is installed on and no other.

You would certainly have to warn the visitor that in no way do you have access to private information.

Despite all the firewalls and and programs to prevent viruses and adware there is the fear that our computers are open to invasion once we become the target of a hacker.

Knowing how a visitor is moving around your website is indeed great stuff from a marketer's perspective but scary from the user's point of view.

This happens all the time in the real world, as everywhere we go, we can be tracked on CCTV whether it is walking down the High Street or inside a shopping store.

I see CCTV has its advantages, so I should have nothing to fear and this is the way it should be with our PCs, if we are being tracked.

I suppose if someone wants to remain anonymous they will learn to use a proxy server.

    Monk,

As i said this not anything to do with privacy concerns here, as this is what is being done by google or yahoo for years, and i havnt seen many implementing this for a small business software.

My question here is whats your view on a conversion tracking software like this, will you pay for it? what features you would want to incorporate in remarketing?

Marketers can track better ROI on $ they spend!
