How Much Traffic Can I Expect From This Keyword

I have a keyword that has been going back and forth between page #2 and page #3 in Google search. According to my traffic stats it gets between 200-300 clicks a month for just that one keyword.

Now I know this is a little tricky, but does anyone have an estimate on how much traffic I could get if it was on position 1-3 just based on this? I've looked at other keyword tools and they don't seem to read this right, wordtracker says that only 5 people search it a month, which is obviously wrong.

Any ideas?

Are you sure you're getting 200-300 visits from a position in Page 2 or Page 3? If you could get the No.1 position, I would expect a ton of visits, considering the fact that Page 2 results rarely get any visits at all (not to mention Page 3).

That's what I was thinking. But I'm not sure how to estimate it other then to just build a bunch of backlinks and see what happens.

Nice! Do people mispell your name too. With me they either spell Sean or Shawn.

Before building backlinks, check the competition of the Top 10 results. Build only if you think you can beat them, otherwise you might just be wasting time and effort.

Yeah they do, people also mispronounce it as "Sha-un" where I live. But I'm kind of used to it lol.

Many statistics say that position #1 can expect slightly above 42% of clickthrough, position #2 close to 12%, and position #3 close to 8.5%.

So if you get to position #1 you can expect to more than triple the traffic compared to staying in position #2.

I hope these figures were what you were looking for.
