I like this part of that post

Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it's the largest collection of web content we've offered. Whether it's a news story, a blog or a forum post, you can now find links to relevant content much sooner after it is published than was possible ever before.
But, I wonder if that is going to apply to new sites as well? Google has a reputation of ignoring new sites - even if the site has the exact content your looking for, its pushed to the back of the results pages.

I had a 1 year old forum and blog - I could post a unique article on the blog, wait a week, then do a search for the exact title of the article. Instead of displaying the article - with the exact title I did a search for, google displayed all kinds of unrelated stuff.

So I wonder if caffeine is going to fix that problem? Or, are new sites (less then 1 year old) still going to be ignored?

Does this mean, old articles such as those published in ezine articles ranking before in the top 10 may be in danger to these newer results?

This is NOT a ranking algorithm update. It IS an indexing update and Google says that sites should be recrawled more quickly but -- and this is MOST important -- pages will be indexed as they are crawled. Prior to Caffeine there was a considerable lag time between fetching and indexing.

This was especially true for new sites.

My 4+ year old, page rank 5 forum - new post were indexed within minutes.
My 1 year old forum, page rank 2 - it might take days to index a new forum post.

On my 2 year old blog, I posted some pictures of a snow storm we had back in December 2009. It was over a week, maybe 2 weeks before the pictures were finally displayed in google images.

But if you look at sites like yahoo news, their stuff is indexed in google within seconds.

If website owners are willing to post the content, then google should index it - regardless of how old the site is, or how many backlinks we have.

  • This is interesting, caffeine index web pages on an greater scale. With growing number of information this new web indexing system would make searching faster and comprehensive. Thank you for sharing.

This is a HUGE change. I just entered "make money online" and the number 1 spot on page 1 was a blog article posted 33 minutes ago!

I think your missing the point - on older sites with lots of backlinks and pagerank, google will index new post within minutes, sometimes seconds.

On newer sites, say less then 1 year old, sometimes it takes weeks before a post will show up in googles index.

Lets say you have a new blog - you can make a post, wait a week, and then do a search for the exact title. Google will display all kinds of unrelated results from more popular sites, instead of results based on the search phrase.

I dont know if caffeine is going to fix that problem, but I sure hope so.

First for make money online to me is Make Money Online.

It says one hour ago, but has this webpage not been #1 for a while? I believe the 1 hour (or 33 minutes) is when the last post appared on the blog.

You guys are joking, but I've seen some queries showing pretty lame sites ranking top 5 just because they have lot's of new content.

Problem is, that new content is ripped off from another sites: they get it from 4-6-10 big news websites and post it (automatically?) in a couple minutes. Maybe a complex script with G Alerts + follow Link + Post it ASAP.

Google gives them love cause they have fresh content - problem is: it's NOT their content, or original content, it's just a fast copy-past.

Google Caffeine? Well, have a different name for it... it's brown too, but people can't drink it, just smell it.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.
