Missing Shopping Step to Selling Products

Hi

Almost reaching the finishing line of creating my first product. I'm missing something here though...

I'm registered for Paypal, and thought all I would need to do is insert my button on my sales page and link up to Paypal

But the people need to download from me, they'll be pages to thank them etc - so do i need to buy another piece of software to manage this process?

Is this an absolute necessity?

    No you just need to create a 'Thank You' page with a link to the download

    Then, when setting up your Paypal button choose the option to redirect to 'Thank You' page once successful payment completed

    So the process would be:

    website buy button > paypal payment > successful payment & redirected to thankyou page > download link from thankyou page

    Make sure you do a robots.txt on thank you & download for robots noindex

    other thing is ensure your download page is either off site
    or done as a zip file so people can download

    Although it's not absolutely necessary, I'd go with DL Guard if you can spare the cash.

    DLGuard - Download page protector, create expiring download links

    It would be an investment in all your future products too as you can use it with everything you create, and in terms of ease of use, security and generally less faffing-about-ness (time being money) it would soon start to pay for itself many times over.

    Highly recommended by me, and by a lot of other people on here too. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention a bad experience with DLG. That's unusual in something that's so widely used.
