I have been "lurking" around in this forum for several weeks now and I have learned a lot from many of your posts.

I have been writing web content full-time since July of 2009. It is not making me a millionaire, but it pays the bills. I have dabbled in IM off and on for several years. By dabble I mean, buy an ebook or latest program and look at it for a few days and then forget about it. It has been recently that I have begun to seriously look at IM as a way of making a living. Building a business to coincide with the writing for real long term financial stability.

My question is one that has probably been asked a thousand times, so I will apologize up front. But...where would you point a newbie? What program is a good program to start the ball rolling. Mind you I do not have extra cash floating around to spend on a program and then all the extra money that program needs to be successful. I am looking for something real basic that I can cut my teeth on and build from there.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The best way to start, in my opinion, is to get a good training program. There a lot of free info out there, but the time you spend doing research and trying to figure out what is good and what is not is a valuable time you are kind of wasting. Besides, there is the risk of information overload.

Feel free to check my resource box. You can access to a very good beginners course free (totally free).

I completely agree with Mark on this one. The war room is better then any program out there as long as you use it wisely. You will find enough examples and methods of making money online then you can imagine. Choose one of your liking and go with it.

The exact way that I still improve my business is by using the War Room. Just don't get overwhelmed...THAT IS KEY. If you are just starting doing keyword research, go to the war room and download all the keyword research freebies. Once you have that step COMPLETE and you need to build a website, find all the ebooks and reports and gifts there on web design.

Keep moving forward only focusing on one step at a time. Do this and you will be successful with just a one time $40 payment.

I agree, If money is tight the small upfront payment to join the War Room is your best choice IMHO. You will learn a bunch in there.

Also I'm not lurking here just to point people to my signature, but the free monday night webinars below are really informative.

The current world we live in is loaded with options. You have infinite choices regarding what you want to do with your life, where you want to live, whether or not you want a family, and what career path you wish seek. It's all up in the air and it's totally in your hands. I personally love the way our Internet has opened doors to so many more buisness opportunities world-wide. In this day and age you really do have the option of starting your own business and doing so from the comfort of your home. The trick is knowing what you want to do with your life.

If there's one thing I can relay to individuals across the globe, it's that you must enjoy your work. Seriously, this is what you'll be taking pride in on a daily basis. Each morning you want to rise from bed and grin at the notion of your career. Life is so much better when you're actually enjoying it from all aspects. And let's not be naive here! What you do to earn a living is a massive part of your life. Most likely it will last until you're 60 or more. So, it's time to ponder your options. What amazing buisness oppurtunities are waiting in cyberspace for you? Don't just assume there aren't any! Let me give you a few quick examples. You could start your own web business selling custom jewelry, you could become acquainted with the stock market and trade from home, you could offer a resume writing service, you could repair laptops, you could become a web publisher and build websites to earn revenue, and you could even open a dessert catering business out of your home. There's no end in sight when it comes to buisness oppurtunities online.

Find your niche! This is not only what work is all about, but it's what life is all about as well. Figure out that one thing you truly enjoy and excel at doing. Maybe it's building web pages for clients and maybe it's writing for a fashion website. The options are vast and always at your fingertips. The key to success is trying and not simply giving up when things appear difficult. Millions of others just like yourself have built empires with buisness oppurtunities found online. Now it's your turn to take hold of the reigns. Start earning money the way you want to.

I'm still a newbie at this, but I can tell you this much. Be very careful with all the products offered to you in order to help a newbie out. Be careful with the WSO section. It seems like newbies to internet marketing are the easy targets for SOME of the more experienced internet marketers. Just look at all the titles in the wso section, don't they all sound great?

The steps are pretty basic, I think the hard part is more on how to properly go about taking that step and the next. In other words,

Step one - would be pick your niche, o.k, EASY, but you need to learn to investigate this niche and see if its profitable and how competitive it is. This is crucial if not all the time invested thereafter is lost.

Step two - keyword research, well, if not done properly you don't know what keywords will bring the most traffic or how to seo your on-page and off-page content.

I won't continue, but you get the idea. Just do your research on how to best take each and every step. If you some money to invest, I would utilize the warriors-for-hire section. Use the right person for each step. Again, be careful there too. Make sure you look at their post counts, previous posts, what fellow warriors have to say and so on. Some have several fake profiles to provide fake testimonials.

Anyways, best of luck to you, it's not easy, and when your ready to quit like alot of people do, that's when you give one more shot.

      Good Luck

I'd start with the War Room. You pay a one-time fee of $37 I think and get a lot of free ebooks, courses, etc. Then browse the forum. Save your money until you have a plan or more of an idea of what you'd like to do.

The War Room is great as some others have said above, although I would point out that you also need some idea, roadmap of how to digest the stuff there, otherwise it can get a bit confusing as the amount of information is vast.

In terms of free material, I know the 30 Day Challenge is about to start next July and it's free (they'll encourage you to purchase Market Samurai though, which is nevertheless a very good investment). Affilorama's got plenty of quality, well organised, free stuff as well. Last but not least, Steve Resell (StevenR) has created an excellent (and mostly free) blueprint on deploying your own mini-money site (MMS) which to me makes a lot of sense and it's here:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/war-room...blueprint.html

With these four sources plus your freelance writing career you should be in a very solid position in your IM efforts.

    All the best

I am liking what I am hearing on this site. I think there are probably a LOT of hints and free stuff there, too. Sometimes it is great to hear about shortcuts that can really help.

For instance, I wish I had known about keywords on websites before 2 years ago. It has made a noticeable difference in my web traffic since I changed my sites to include these. I bet there are lots of good tips there. I have to say it is a reasonable price compared to some other information sites I have seen.

Become a War Room member and find out what you like most about IM. Then learn everything about that specific topic and just be relentless. Don't give up until you see at least satisfactory success and then build on it.

Never look at your business as you would look at your 9 - 5 job , it's a lot different

    Al.
That's one thing I don't have to worry over. I have not had the 9-5 mentality since July of '09 when i started freelance writing. lol I love working from home, but it is work and it is a business. Like I said in my original post, I have dabbled very loosely with affiliate marketing but have had to concentrate on my writing end to pay the bills. But what i have done in marketing I enjoyed a hell of a lot more than the structure of writing.

Affiliate marketing is work too, but it is enjoyable from what I have encountered thus far. But it is something that must be worked on daily. Nobody is going to hand you $1000 a day for just sitting back and buying one program after another.

I am just now starting out seriously. I am working towards eliminating the full-time structured web content writing for more of a creative marketing business with affiliate products. It will take a couple of years, but with the nose to the grindstone and the ear to the wall...it will happen.

I would look for a free guide on blogging. There are plenty out there. In my opinion, blogging and adsense is the best way to start. Once you get familiar with the layout, you can monetize it with Amazon or Clickbank.

It's a slow progression, but I recommend starting with a blogging how to.
