Making sales, but now feel guilty!

I made my first CB sale whohooo! Also been earning from Adsense. Here's the thing, I feel guilty about it! It seems as if part of my brain keeps telling me that I need to "work" for the money or that somehow I'm taking somebody's money this way.

Anybody else experience this at first? how did you overcome it?

Funny I feel this way since I worked very hard at getting the first sale

    There is your answer

Nothing to feel guilty about. Its something to do with the way we are accustomed to make money. by trading time with money.

Welcome to the World of the Elite my friend.

You'll get used to it I'm sure

    Congrats on the Sales too.

Dude "work" doesn't have to be done by the sweat of your brow and physical manual labor....you used your knowledge and your head to set things up to EARN that first sale...

Bask in the heavenly glow of your success :-)

Oh and wehn other sales come in based on the work you've already done, please refrain from feeling bad as this business is a "do the hard work up front, reap the rewards forever" kind of biz....

    1. The Adwords advertiser was going to spend that money on those clicks anyways. You shouldn't feel guilty about that.

    2. The person that bought the CB product was looking for what you were offering. Otherwise, they would not have clicked on the link and bought the product. You helped someone...and got paid for it. Doesn't get much better than that does it?

You are coming from a mindset of lack, when there is really more than enough to go around. You say in your first paragraph that you feel you need to work for the money, then in the last sentence you admit that you did work hard. I'm not sure where the problem lies.

It should only get easier from here now that you know you can make a sale. Just think of it as adding value to someone's life by showing them the right way to the information they want. Keep the good work up!

The problem lies in what Maddi said, I'm accustomed to by trading time with money. That is, I earned the sale yesterday, but did not necessarily do anything directly yesterday to make that sale.

Some brain re-programming needs to be done and this is really helping. Thanks for all the words so far.

"you used your knowledge and your head to set things up"

And that's what I'm being paid for? Hey I can live with that.

Gotta love residual income....I've taken months off before and still made thousands a month from articles that were written 5 years ago. That's what makes this business so exciting.

You can make money one of three ways:

    1 - By working harder

    2 - By working smarter

3 - By working harder and smarter

Nowhere in there do you need to feel guilty about anything as long as you are an ethical marketer. Whether your work harder or smarter make no mistake about it...every penny made is earned.

    Respectfully,

You provided a marketing service for Google and the Clickbank vendor and you get paid a commission like any body else in the world who does sales as a job. You'll get the 1099 from Google and Clickbank to prove it. It's really just contract work except the nature of the work is very, very independent which is awesome.

Yeah, well done. You should congratulate yourself.

Do you mind sharing what techniques you used?

      Well of course, I've used:

      Paid campaigns: Adwords, FB Marketing
Unpaid: Forum postings, Blog commenting, 2-3 articles written. On-site SEO.

FB marketing is what brings the most visitors. Almost every click is a "Like" on my page and a visitor consequently.
Forum postings have worked well, I've provided value and relevant comments in every post, I aim for quality, 2-3 max posts a day in my niche forum.

I don't have a sales page per say, I have a users' community website in which I have ads on the side, some being CB products.

      Hope that helps.

There you go - I thought you said you worked hard - and by the way, I hope you are confident in the quality of the thing that you are promoting.

Personally, I would strongly suggest you to never promote anything that you do not believe in, if you are serious about growing.

And as long as you promote and sell something that you believe in deeply, then you are helping your customer against a fees. Your knowledge is the smartest part of your work.

    Does this help?

I remember my First Clickbank sale it was only for 12.00 bucks at the time but got it in the ending (after 6 months of waiting mind)

But no Do not feel guilty it is good your earning money for yourself and just keep at it what made your first sale when you get your second,3rd,20th sale your brain will switch that emotion off.

Hope that helps and congrates on your first sale

It's the fruit of your hard work. Don't be guilty unless you're promoting a bad product.

    Dude, you are working.

And why in the world do you feel guilty?

You did NOT take the money. Someone paid the money.

That's the way of the world. We make money from each
    other.

Even if you work as a machine operator for some factory...
where do you think the money that you earn comes from?

From other people that buy the products or services that
the factory you work for provides.

In the end it'll always lead to "selling".

So you might as well stop working for others and start
    selling stuff yourself.

You don't have to feel guilty as you have already worked hard enough to earn your first money online. Just try to work hard for expanding your business and you should fine.

If you'r promoting a solid product, then you're not taking somebody's money away.

It WOULD be taking somebody's money away if they didn't get a product. But... they are, and they are spending their money because they want to. Consider it a job well done. People buy things to solve their problems, and you've helped someone solve their problem with your sale.

Good for you to realize this.

We are so steeped in this mentality that "hard working people" are "good" people.

And when someone has worked very hard for some time, and, with a lot of adversity,(even better!!) they really "deserve" to get the goodies.

It is somehow so much more admirably to really struggle on our bare knees than to just sit down and the fruit of our.....labor..... (See? There it is again...) comes to us easy and effortlessly.

The "labor" can be an idea, or setting something in motion that will result in residual income.

This is a huge stumbling block for many.

    Not just this one but:

You have to pay your dues first.
It is not OK to make more money than my Dad/Brother/Etc.
So many are struggling, it is not OK if money flow easily to me.
People with money are not very nice.
I may be poor, but at least I'm a good person....
It is not spiritual to have or want money.
"The Jones's down the block may be rich, but they are not very nice people"
A rich man can not get into heaven.
Whatever I get/have comes at the expense of someone else.
Who am I to have more than.....
With so many starving people in the world, how do I deserve or justify having money flowing to me in great streams, effortlessly...

So there are a million of these....

Take a look at the book by Wallace Wattles, "The Science of Getting Rich" and look into some of the Abraham material and Harv Eker's "The Millionaire Mind" to find and root out some blocks preventing your (well deserved!!) success.

"You Can Only Be That Which You Are Conscious Of Being"

Well, that's pretty much sums it up....

I definitely worked my ass off to get that first sale, spent long days in front of my computer building links, content, trying to get the word out on my site + reading these forums like they were about to shutdown.

I remember when I first started reading there (November 09) this place had its own folder in my favorite section. I read and read and read. Didn't experience my first true sale until April of this year and it was a magnificent feeling. I felt I worked damn hard to reach that point--not guilty...

If you're promoting your own levelling guide then you've already put in the "work" so why feel guilty, but even if your an affiliate for another guide once again they did the work putting together the guide and you're doing the promotional "work" getting the sale; Once again why feel guilty!! . Well done you

Add up all the hours you have spent working and learning how to do this.

      You really earned that money!

You could have just watched TV every night after work like the rest of the world.

Um... I don't know if you've noticed, but people LOVE spending money.

From what I hear, they'll put up with having to work all day long (and sometimes long into the night), just so they can spend more of it.

If you have something good to offer and you connect your offer to the people who want that good thing, you're just doing everyone a favor.

If you're selling crap, find (or make) something better to sell and sleep easy.
