My Wordpress Blog Got Hacked..What can I do to recover the post? Help please.

Hi!

My wordpress blog on IM got hacked.

Yesterday the entire domain and all of the sub-domains can't be accessed.

Now the only thing that can't be accessed is the blog.

It shows the following: Error Establishing A Database Connection.

This tells me that either the database or the code is corrupted.
Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this. I'm not PHP savvy
but I can get my way around things since I have a technical
background.

Please help.

Thanks,

Omar

    Hi Omar

First go into cpanel check your database is even there, you can also run a repair there is link for it there

Second, check your settings in your config file are correct with your database

Third, did you backup? if you did, you can easily just restore your old backup

    Also tell your host

    Thanks Jon,

A few minutes ago I tried accessing my cpanel but it just hangs up.

I already reported the problem to my host and just waiting for a reply
from them on what to do.

Right now I can't do anything with it except wait.

I didn't created any backup so I guess I'll lose a lot of blog post if
my host can't recover the blog.

I guess that will be a lesson for me. It was just that I didn't think
anybody will care to hack my IM blog.

I will follow your advice to the letter as soon as I get access to my cpanel.

    Again, thank you very much.

    Sincerely,

    Omar

Well it may not have been hacked. Usually when they hack sites, they replace your front page with crap.

Just having it say database connection issue, means it could be a number of things... Even your host could have caused it. I.e Server issue.

If you are running cpanel then yo have daily, weekly and monthly back ups,... usually

        1) go to phpmyadmin and back up your db
        2) restore from your daily or weekly back up
        3) check it out
        4) phpmyadmin and back up the db again
        5) replace the db with your initial db back up. your posts might all be there
        6) If so check your add-ons and wp to make sure it is up to date.
        7) if not then either run the restore again or put the second db back up up

If all of the above fails and there is no data there you could always try the old wayback machine and copy the post text from there to rebuild - pain in the ass but saves you rewriting everything
