Affilate Marketing If I Also Have My Own Product?

I know this seems like a strange question, but hey, I'm new at this. I have a site that's been up for almost 3 months now. My product is video tutorials that teach people how to record high quality audio from a PC-based home recording studio (that I also show how to set up for $5.00 or less). I will probably also sell e-books/reports, and my own royalty-free music and loops (audio content to augment a customers' recordings).

My plan was to ALSO affiliate with other audio content providers who have MUCH larger music/loops libraries than I do. I may also put links up for other audio-related stuff.

Is it recommended/normal to do affiliate marketing with the same site you use to sell your own content? If so, is that usually done with all affiliates on a separate page of their own, or with the links scattered about on every page?

Thanks! Sorry for the green-as-grass questions. I'll be a veteran warrior one day:p.

Cheers,

Ken

I'm not an expert or anything but I can't see a problem with mixing your own products with affiliate product.

If the affiliate product is relevant, it's a good idea to sell it to your customers. Just make sure that the product is actually good. You should try to implement the affiliate product as an upsell. After the customer buys your video course, you should have a page that tells them about the affiliate product. Tell them how it can benefit them. Maybe they will buy that as well. The goal is to get the product in front of them while they still have their credit card right there.

Also, make sure that you state that you're getting affiliate compensation for the product. You don't want to be fooling around violating FTC rules.

You are actually doing your list a service by showing the relevant offers.

They are very interested in your topic and anything related to it. As long as you are presenting relevant offers as a favour and not spamming them / hard selling them you will be fine.
