Sales Funnel opt-in webpages? I need help!

Hey everyone.

I'm trying to finalize the process for aweber opt in and wanted to see if i'm doing it right?

I have a domain, but unsure about what webpages I need to create exactly:

I think I need the following:

  1. Squeezepage with front end offer (free download).
  2. Confirmation page - confirm your aweber subscription.
  3. One time offer page (oto) - before the download page to upsell something else I think.
  4. Download page - you will download your link her.
  5. Subscribed page - if user is already subscribed, they go here.
Are these pages what I need to get started?

Thanks everyone...

Those sound good, but be sure and think it through step by step. You could create a flow chart if you want to see it visually.

Step through the entire process as if you're a buyer. There's a button you can create in Paypal in order to do this so you won't actually get charged. Doing this will highlight anything you've missed and be a double-check so you know everything works.

You could skip the OTO and send them a special offer in a little while. Like a day or two, I suspect you might get better conversions, especially if you are selling an IM product. If you are in a niche market away from IM, an OTO might work.

So instead of a One Time Offer OTO, I could send them a Special Offer a couple days after getting the download that they received? I take it there are different sales funnel processes which are used for either one? I wonder who would know this kind of info. A mindmap of these processes would certainly be handy eh!

The basic sales process is the same. The benefit of doing the OTO a few days later is that the person will have time to check out your product and know whether or not they want to get more from you.

I personally don't buy OTO's when they come before I have a chance to see the thing I'm buying - especially if I don't know the author. It would be nice to have the first eMail from them a few days later saying something like "thanks for purchasing XYZ. If you enjoyed it, I have a special deal for you just for purchasing."

You don't need mindmaps or anything else, really. Stop and put yourself in the purchaser's shoes. What would you like to see? How would you like to get it? Then proceed from there.

Also, don't let any of this slow you down or you'll think it to death. It's never going to be perfect, so you're better off creating what YOU would like if you're the buyer, then put it up. You can always tweak it from there. Try a few different approaches once it's in place.

Best example is Microsuck. Nothing worked all that well when they got started, but they put it out there and then simply fixed things as they went along.

Nicely put Sonomocats... thanks. I seem to catch myself thinking alot about things worrying if it will come out right.

Do you know how aweber is setup with 2 separate emails? One for the original confirmation then a second after I think for another type of subscription or confirmation where the download link it sent?

Some things I've subscribed to were done this way. Not sure how this is done?

That's easy. Just make sure you've selected the double opt-in option. That will take care of that end of things.

When you set up the autoresponder, there's a place where it asks you what page you want the person to return to. If you want them to be able to go to a special page to get a download, just have that set up and then put in the URL where it asks you.

The nice thing about both Paypal and aWeber is that as you run into things that you forgot (like the return page), it'll ask you for it and all you have to do is create it.

One of the things I do is create a checklist as I put things together so that the second time thru the process I have something to work with and fewer things slip through the cracks. I'm constantly revising it, but after a few times, you seldom leave anything out.

But the first time thru, you probably will. It's no big deal and doesn't need to stop you in your tracks. Simply create what you need and keep going.

ok, cool... very great insight. Wow it helps to follow through on the process of completing an aweber list from start to finish. After reading your comment I completed (said 92% complete) for the last week or so and now that I've added my first follow up email, I see what you mean. Very nice!

Paypal will be my next step. I'm more familiar with Paypal but using it through the aweber funnel process will be interesting.

Always helps to complete the process... gotta look at having the warriors review my website soon...

    Thanks again!

I agree that after they have confirmed their email you should be sending them straight to what you promised - the free download. If you instead send them straight to an offer you are starting off your relationship on the wrong foot.

Offer them something free and then deliver on that promise right away. Just this one step will help build a small bit of trust. From there you can offer them a few more more freebies or useful information and then a little later you can recommend a product. But do it in a way that makes them feel like the only reason you are recommending the product is to help them further.

      Good luck!

Ahhhh... ok.. so on the confirm subscription link, send them to a FREE BONUS page, thanking them for subscribing to our special offer. Then they will check their email for the FREE DOWNLOAD that the initially wanted!!! I see more clearly the process of trust building...

    Nice...

      Nelson,

      Should go something like this:

      1. They optin to your aweber list on the squeeze page.
      2. They are sent to a confirmation page that shows them exactly how and why they need to confirm their email and tell them that their bonus will be delievered the minute they confirm their email.
      3. Once they confirm their email have it set so they are sent straight to the page to download the free thing you promised them. Try and use a blog type page for this so people can leave comments and you start to build some social proof.
      4. Over the next few days to a week, maybe send them some other free stuff that helps them with their problem. You have already built some trust by delivering on your first promise, now you want to over-deliver and give them more than they were expecting.
      5. At some stage recommend your product or an affiliate product but don't try and sell it to them. Just recommend it as something else that will help solve their problems and try to give some proof of how it has already worked for yourself or other people.

      Rinse and repeat.

At what point does a ONE TIME OFFER fit in? Should one wait until more social proof is in place?

I think ONE TIME OFFERS are done prior to a purchase... when they are in the process of taking action. Maybe there are different times, not sure!

      Nelson,

I think it really depends what you are trying to achieve. If you are just wanting to make some quick sales then yes, you could insert a one time offer before they get to download the free stuff you promised.

However if you want to build a list of loyal followers that you can keep making money off for years and years then you want to first work at building the relationship. You shouldn't be thinking of what can I sell them and where can I make my money. You should instead be thinking, what else can I give these people for free that will help them solve the problem they have. Before you start selling them something try to help them get closer to solving their problem.

Once you do that they will place a great deal of trust in you and look up to you as an authority in your field.

Here's a good example. Imagine you were hitting some golf balls at the golf course and every time you hit the ball, it sliced off to the left. All of a sudden some guy walks up to you and says:

"Hey, I noticed you're hitting the ball all wrong. I do golf lessons out here every week, you should give me a call."

You would probably walk off thinking he was a bit arrogant and never even think about calling him.

Now imagine you were slicing the ball and the same guy walked up to you and said:

"Hey, I noticed you're hitting the ball all wrong. Let me have a quick look at your grip. Ok, put this finger here and this finger here. Now try and hit the ball again."

You hit the ball and it goes dead-straight and further than you have ever hit the ball before. This guy has immediately improved your playing. Now imagine if he then said:

"Hey, I do lessons out here every week. I'm sure I could help you with some other stuff too."

Do you think you are likely to give that guy a call? Hell yeah.

      See the difference...

OTO's are generally done after they have purchased the item on the sales page.

The idea is that they've already purchased something and now, while they still have their credit card or Paypal information out, they can get a special deal on something related that will go really well with the thing they've just purchased.

The big problem is that you have to have done a spectacular job of selling them in the first place for them to go ahead and give you even more money.

A lot of people (me included) want to see the first product before they fork over any more cash. So a special OTO several days later once they've had a chance to look at the first product can produce very nice results. But only if your product is great and they're still on a high because of it. This is something that a lot of internet marketers don't do, which is a shame.

A lot depends on your preferences, as well. What would YOU like to see. And then do that.

Just don't be like some marketers who have one OTO after the other. It gets old after the 2nd one. If you do an OTO right after the purchase of the product, save the others for down the road as a special for people on your list. If you've given them value and haven't pissed them off by doing nothing but sell, sell, sell, they'll be interested in checking out what else you have.

Best way would be to A/B test your funnel with and without OTO. We can argue endless on advantages and disadvantages but let your customer clicks tell you the truth.

Can someone help me on how do I create a Landing page style squeeze page where there are no sidebars and which looks proffesional like all those gurus have it in their site.
I just want one or two links showing contact, privacy etc.
Also can someone tell me how do I create a email optin form which looks like custom made with colour like those gurus use?I have currently signed up with mailchimp and incontact and it seems like I need to code it all by myself. Is there any place where I can purchase or get for free proffesional optin email submit forms and when users optin goes to another page and I continue with my Sales Pitch.
Can someone provide me some easy ways to create a Sales Page like how the gurus create without the bloggy look.
Also I have one more suggestion,do I need to add blog+Landing page in the site where I am promoting the Clickbank products.

Not sure about mailchimp and incontact but aweber has preconfigured forms. Some are quite nice actually. Plus you can edit the forms colors etc.

Charlyms21 - I haven't dealt much with any other opt-in list programs. Tried some scripts with little success and finally gave up, but then realized in order to build a business and a list I had better bite the bullet so I bought into Aweber. Really its only about .66 cents a day.

I know about website design and delving into internet marketing which is why I come to this site cuz it rocks with info and great ideas and people.

My thing is this. If I know website design, know the basics of marketing online...what do I need next. I need a method to push my marketing forward and that to me has been aweber. Other people use other systems but the autoresponder system seems to be allowing me to push everything forward now. I'm not going to spend alot of time on form color and size when the convenience of .66 cents aday allows me to move past that with some very nice forms.

    Anyways...

You're going to have to spend (some) money to make money. While it is certainly possible to start up an income-generating system on the internet at very little cost, you will still have a few tools that you really do need. An autoresponder such as Aweber is one of these tools - the amount of time, stress, and research you would otherwise spend trying to perform the same functions prevents you from using your time more efficiently on other aspects of your business.

Shoestring-style bootstrapping is definitely possible, but you will still need to spend some money on invaluable tools.

Nicely said Money_Magnetism... i've come to realize with my hosting reseller ($30/month - unlimited hosting) plus my aweber account ($20/month) that they are at the core to doing anything online and maximizing any potential opportunities.

Think about it... if you need to create a website, you have hosting. A must!

Once you have a website you have to monetize it somehow. I think the best way is to build a list first, test your creation then more heavily get into other forms of monetizing it and ultimately making money.

2 top tools for me are hosting and autoresponder. Costs about $1.66/day which unlike in the US there is Starbucks coffee, we have Tim Horton's coffee in Canada. Tim Horton's coffee costs about $1.50 per large cup. So technically I buy 2 cups a day, have my online tools in place and I take in half the caffeine...

I'm in the process right now of creating niche websites using these 2 tools and working on marketing strategies to push my online/offline success as best I can...

But I'd like to test out the list building first and see if it works and then subscribe to aweber.I am currently playing with icontact and mailchimp. When I log in,its asking me to create an optin page by myself using CSS which I dont know much about.Or else I need to be happy with a white very less attractive optin box.Can someone recommend some products or free optin page layouts?
