should i delete akismet if comments are disabled?

This would be for a small 5 page site with comments disabled.

would deleting this plugin load the page faster?

    Their is no need having an Plugin installed that is inactive, you should click the Disable button if you have disabled comments.

    Not an expert on Akismet, but plugins in general will slow your blog down.

    Either way, it's taking up space at your host and probably gets annoying to look at on your plugin list, so I'd just delete it.

      Are you out of your mind?

      Akismet will help with all kinds of spam. Even if your comments are disabled, a hacker can add crap to your site and make it look like you have all kinds of garbage.

      Akismet is one of the best plugins you can have.

    I wouldn't remove it; I wouldn't even deactivate it: a lot spam is getting to blogs regardless of your settings (disabled comments). Spam comments go "around" your comment form anyway and a great number of spam is false trackback.

    Even if not displayed on your blog, this garbage would accumulate in your database. Better keep the plugin active and set to delete all the spam from the database after X number of days.
