Ultimate Niche Blog Creation Checklist + Masterplan for Niche Domination + List & Product Creation

I discovered a new niche which has a lot of traffic but very low competition. I couldn't ignore it and at the same time I shouldn't lose focus on my other projects. So I created a checklist - 1 work per day.

And I thought it would be useful to you too! (Sorry I work on Sundays too!)

One Time Blog Setup:

Day 1: Register Domain
Day 2: Add Addon Domain In Hosting Account And Link Nameservers [Or Buy New Hosting]
Day 3: Create A Google Account For This Project [For Mail, Analytics Etc]
Day 4: Signup & Configure Google Apps With Hosting for custom emails, docs etc.
Day 5: Install Wordpress With Fantastico
Day 6: Install Thesis Theme [Or Anything Else] And Customize It
Day 7: Change Permalink structure to /%postname%/
Day 8: Noindex, nofollow archive pages to avoid duplicate content
Day 9: Install Yet Another Related Posts Plugin
Day 10: Install All In One Seo Plugin For Wordpress
Day 11: Install Seo-Slugs Plugin
Day 12: Install Google Analytics With Unltimage Google Analytics Plugin
Day 13: Create Google Webmaster Tools Account And Validate Site
Day 14: Install Google XML Sitemal Plugin for Wordpress and Update in webmaster tools
Day 15: Create Feedburner Account
Day 16: Install Feedburner Plugin In Wordpress And Redirect Wordpress Rss To Feedburner Rss
Day 17: Install Subcriber Count Widget In Sidebar
Day 18: Create An Email Subscription Box For Rss Below Each Post
Day 19: Use a plugin that will generate links in keywords - For internal linking and for affiliate links
Day 20: Install wordpress db-backup and setup a separate email in Google apps that will receive the backup files. [Daily or weekly backup depending on site posting frequency]
Day 21: Install Akismet for spam filtering

One Time Content Setup:

Day 22: Create Header Logo
Day 23: Create Favicon
Day 24: Create An About Me Page
Day 25: Create Youtube Account And Copy The About Me In Description
Day 26: Create Twitter Account And Install Twitter-Wordpress Plugin & Link Them
Day 27: Create A Facebook Page And Update Logo And About Me Section, Install Facebook Widget In The Site
Day 28: Connect Youtube Account With Facebook And Twitter
Day 29: Outsource Custom Design For Youtube Channel And Twitter Backgrounds
Day 30: Install Adsense Codes, Install Google custom search for internal searches

Weekly Content Work:

Monday: Post X posts per week [Schedule them in 1 day] Outsource Content
Tuesday: Watch Google Trends and News for whats hot + Use Google Keyword tool for new ideas, Track keyword positions in Google Webmaster Tools and plan for new content
Wednesday: Research Affiliate Products in the various networks in this niche for review posts
Thursday: Analyze your competitor's websites
Friday: Submit content to social bookmarking sites, Moderate comments
Saturday: Convert articles to videos - Post in YouTube - Embed in Blog
Sunday: Distribute Content to Article Marketing Sites with Anchored Backlinks

One Time List Building Work:

After 3 or 6 months if the traffic is good...
  • Create a free giveaway : ebook or software or media
  • Subscribe to Aweber and Install Optin form
  • Create content and load it in the auto responder
Yearly Admin Work:
  • Check Hosting and Domain name renewals and make sure they don't expire
  • Take backups for media in external storage device for added security
  • Create a new plan for the year considering changes in the market
  • If the traffic and list size is good, consider creating information product
  • Try to find direct advertisers
Things to remember for the content creator:
  • Keywords in page title
  • Keywords in post title
  • Keywords in post text
  • Keywords in post URL (WP-permalink structure).
  • Keywords in img alt tags. Keyword in bold.
  • Keywords in anchor text of links.
I am sure I have missed something. Let me know and I will update it - and I will put your name on it!

Regards,
Deepak Raj

Nice detailed plan...To speed things up, you can put a lot of those tasks into the same day. Depending on how much time you have 1 -30 can be done in a day or 2.

Or you can pick a bunch of different niches and work them all at once.

      nice post Deepak

Batch processing is always a nice strategy but in this case, I would never get to work if there is too much work. When you see a simple 5 minute task, it is easier to do it and strike it off the checklist

Hi Deepak - great plan, here are a few missing pieces/suggestions:

    1. Would be good to add to your checklist the process for locating the niche idea in the first place...checklist means nothing unless people can come up with an idea which has high earning potential

    2. You left out keyword reserach...the effectiveness of your content will highly depend on how effectively you mine keywords. You mention how you use the keywords in the content, but not the actual process of coming up with the keywords in the first place

3 Just a suggestion (I also create many test sites around prospective niches) - you can usually tell if you have a winning niche in as little as 3-4 weeks - that's when you can begin to monetize and focus on list building - shouldn't have to wait for 3-6 months. If you do, then something is wrong.

A really good solid workable plan. I have seen paid products with less info and fewer actionable steps.

Yeah! I missed it because in my case I had discovered the niche already

In my experience a new blog does not reach its maximum SEO potential within 3-4 weeks. In the second or 3rd month, the SE traffic is higher. I noticed this by accident. Perhaps you should try it too!

A post that shows the value of the Warrior Forum - nice one Deepak.

Simple, informative and easy to follow - whether you aim to do 1 step per day or x# of steps per day is immaterial - each to their own. Nice blueprint.

Also agree with your comment above - Although you can judge and forecast expected potential to a new blog after 3 - 4 weeks, I agree that you only get a clearer picture with more time of 3 - 4 months.

        Regards

        Rufus

So far it has worked well for me. I am on the 10th day now.

Its really not about the days. Its about the steps. It gives a clear idea of what to do next.

Just a quick question for you.

      Change Permalink structure to /%postname%/
I currently use /%category%/%postname%/, is your suggestion better for SEO purposes?

      Thanks!

Yes, for some blogs this is better. If the blog has a broad niche, the keywords in categories will matter.

But for narrow niches, if the keyword is in the domain name, then there is no point if the keyword repeats in the category too.

You really have to make your own judgement regarding this.
