How do we know who owns the fan page?

Say if we want to contact them for advertisement or JV, it seems there is no way to find it out.

Not that I have ever found. I don't run giant ones, but a couple in the tens of thousands.

I think there is no direct way of doing that. Instead, post on their walls or Google their brand names or products.

        Wilson,

As the others have mentioned there is no way of finding out who owns a Facebook fan page. And you will find that many of the admins of very large fan pages based around silly topics have already had their publishing rights stripped from them so they are of no use to you anyway.

My advice to you would be to go after Facebook groups instead. You can easily contact the admin of a Facebook group (as they are listed in the sidebar) and if you can find groups with a member count close to, but not over 5,000, you can get them to message every member in their group. Your private message function is taken away when a group gets over 5,000 members so you want to find those groups that have anywhere from around 3,000 - 4,999 members for best results.

You'll find you probably get a much better response from having the admin of a small group of a few thousand pm all their members than just some fan page publishing a story on their wall.

Thanks, but how to differentiate a fan/group page?

When you do a search for your topic in the top search box, a list of results will come up. Down the left hand side it will have options such as 'All results', 'People', 'Pages', 'Groups', etc.

Click on the 'Groups' option and then it will only show you groups that fall under your search. Then click on the group and contact the admin of that group. The admin or admins can be found down in the left hand column of the group. Remember, try and look for groups with a few thousand members that are targeted to your chosen topic.

              Hi WillR,

Thanks for the help. I don't really understand why FB has fan page and groups, it seems they are the same thing.

And I can see groups are not active and few have tons of fans.

For marketing purpose, fan page with large population is more desirable.

Using your normal search options, you won't be able to find out who owns a fan page.

One of the best ways to promote your Facebook stuff is through buying status updates.
A good source of finding powerful fanpages is
    C P A Lead
    .
Go to the homepage, look at the left hand site, search for 'Marketplace' and click 'Go To Marketplace'. You'll find 100s of Facebook marketers selling status updates.
If you already have an account over there and made $100 or more, you can join the chat box talk, where lots of deals are initiated.

I have a friend who has 300k followers by owning a club, but he can't mail em all for some strange reason. I think 10k is max where admin can mail out.

As I previously said, all of the fan pages people have created that are based around general topics or stupid topics, their posting rights will usually have been stripped from them, and for good reason.

Fan pages were designed for businesses and individuals to promote and keep in touch with fans of their products or services. When someone creates a fan page for "New York" or "People who like Ice-Cream" their rights will be taken away from them because they do not own 'New York' or 'Ice-Cream' and so they have no right to be running the fan page in the first place.

      Facebook aren't stupid...

Which is why Facebook recently introduced Community Pages.

Community Pages are basically Facebook pages for everything other than personal or business... i.e. the generic topics mentioned in the above post.

    Always evolving...
