Not being from US have a question related to an affiliate blog I run.

Where would the average US consumer go online to buy a Flip Video Camera?

Amazon?
Best Buy?
TheFlip.com?

or ....

thanks

I would check Amazon first. It's a site I've used for a lot of purchases and have always been happy with them, so there's trust.

I'd go to Google Product Search and see who has the best overall price and best reputation.

Personally, I would buy from amazon first.

Even though ebay might be a little cheaper, I do not like how ebay enforces the return/exchange policy. I bought something off ebay awhile back, and it was not the item that was described. So I asked for an exchange - the person ignored my emails, so I filled a claim with paypal. Paypal said it could be a month before I got my money back. It did not take me a month to pay for the item, it should not take a month to get my money back.

In the end, I dropped the paypal claim and I kept the item - even though it was wrong. It was too much of a hassle for a $25 product. In exchange for not getting my money back, I left some negative feedback on the persons rating - item was not as described and refused to exchange.

To avoid all of that trouble with ebay, I mostly deal with amazon or local stores.

I will buy from other online stores besides amazon, but only if the are high rated and being listed with the Better Business Bureau helps.

I read all about it on TheFlip.com, and then I went to Amazon.com to buy it.

As I recall, it was a little cheaper at Amazon.com and they shipped faster.

More than likely they would go to either Amazon.com or eBay. But there are so many choices and if they are shopping online they are probably looking for the best price. So, it's possible they could go to BestBuy.com or CircuitCity.com as they have some very good prices on electronics.

People who have Best Buy stores in their area would be likely to check best buy first. Same could be said for circuit city. Then probably amazon. There is stand out retailer online aside from amazon that does not have a physical presence.

Re Circuit City - boy do I have some bad news for you....

But as others have said - for me I would check amazon first and then best buy and my local compusa store (was tiger direct - why they changed their name is beyond me since compusa had a bad reputation in my area and tiger direct had a great one). If the local stores where within reason to me I'd buy local - nice to have a face to 'discuss' issues with; otherwise I'd just go back to amazon and do a one click order.

        best,

I dont know how to tell you this,,,, but circuit city went out business about a year ago.

When all of this financial stuff started with the banks, circuit city crashed and burned.

What? Were the Tiger Direct execs smoking crack?

Maybe they had some really really good "everything must go!" deals on The Flip.

Since Amazon stopped paying it's associates (like me) for their referrals in 5 states so far (the year is young), I will gladly pay 10%-20% more by going elsewhere.

Plus, don't get the Flip...go for the zi8 Kodak. It has an external mic jack and works great with most wireless mics.

Amazon, definitely. I might try eBay for a Buy It Now, too.

    Would go something like this:

Check the price on Amazon, is it cheaper than other big electronic stores with free shipping? buy it.
Do it need it right now? Compare amazon price with best buy, staples, wal mart, etc and go pick it up at the cheapest place.
