Merchants, have you got this email?

I've been sent an about a dozen emails (or variation of it) over the past few weeks making the same offer to me.

The first email is a tease.... basically "I've got a business proposition for you that will bring you extra sales. You won't have to do anything because I'll do it all for you. All I ask is 25% commission. Since you offer 75% currently, 25% is a steal. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send more details."

Their second email says (again paraphrasing) "I know you need content for your email newsletter. I will supply you with a series of articles, which direct them to buy your product. It will work best if you offer the product at a significant price reduction. My emails will also include links to my (product, site, squeeze page, etc.)."

I want to be clear I am not questioning anyone's motives. I'm not calling anyone unethical. As far as I can tell, it is all on the up-and-up.

My question... WIIFM??

Coming up with content for my newsletter is not hard and I already offer special price reductions from time to time...only now if I take on this new content, these messages will also include someone elses link, product, or squeeze page. I'm just not seeing the benefit.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there a benefit here that I am being hardheaded about and not seeing (knowing me that is a VERY realistic possibility!).

I think there's nothing in it for you. And if you are making sales from your newsletter, then you deserve to keep a 100% of it... not 75%. And then you will have to include links to his sites etc. as well. I would never do that unlkess it was Frank Kern writing those emails for me.

That person seems to be behaving as a Smart A$$ to me. I would politely tell them that trhe affiliate program requires them to send an email to their list or produce traffic with their own efforts anyhow and they are most welcome to keep a staggerring 75% instead of a measly 25% with the traffic that they bring it to {their affiliate link}.

    Hope it helps

Lakshay, I agree with you. I don't see any benefit at all. Everytime I read one of these I think how I would be embarassed to send out a proposal to someone where I reaped all the benefits, and yet I positioned it as a win/win for both. I guess if coming up with newsletter content was a major pain, but it's extremely easy.

LB, I suspect some "guru" is teaching this method as a list builder or something...
