Hi Warriors,

I'm building a website with wordpress and am having troubles. The site is hosted through yahoo small business. So, I created a database and uploaded wordpress, installed just fine and it's showing up on the screen. I added a page and made it the homepage and that one shows up. BUT.... all the other pages I've published since the homepage don't show up and some are re-directed to the old website pages.

I can't figure out why this is happening. I've deleted the old databases in Mysql, I've deleted old files using the FTP to access the webserver, so I can't figure out where the issue it.

Here's the website:

All Arts Academy

Thanks for any help!!!!!

  • My first thought would be to wonder if this is a theme issue?

Try activating one of the default themes and see if your pages show up.

If that doesn't help, try deactivating any plug-ins.
  • well.... i tried the theme change and still the same problem. also, i didn't have any plugins activated yet before i published the pages.

    any other ideas?

    • Make sure your pages are linking correctly.

Also when you make the pages, are they showing up as being created?

Try using the pagemash plugin. Maybe that will clear things up a little.
  • I may have missed the point entirely but if you create a page in Wordpress and there is an existing folder in the Wordpress directory it will bug out and not work.

You said you were replacing an old site, so that thought just occurred to me.
  • It is probably the fact that you changed your permalinks off of default.

Yes, you want to change them for SEO purposes, but Yahoo hosting doesn't allow it. They do not allow access to the .htaccess file to make any changes whatsoever.

(You may not know that you need access to that file, as WP does it behind the scenes, but it needs to be altered and Yahoo won't do it).

Even though Yahoo says they ARE compatible with Wordpress, for all practical use they are NOT.

(I wrote a more detailed post here Changing Permalinks On Wordpress With Yahoo Web Hosting)

    • I totally agree with VegasGreg. Yahoo is definitely NOT going to do you any favors when unhooking their yahoo store or websites without a fight. I have a friend who had the same exact thing happened to him when he wanted to move everything to a WP blog. We just deleted the whole Yahoo site and recreated it on Wordpress from scratch.

Best way is to start a clean install with Wordpress and manually copy your content to the new platform. Hopefully, you don't have tons and tons of content?
