99% of EVERYTHING is DEAD!!!

Yep.

SEO is dead.

ClickBank is dead.

Affiliate marketing is dead.

Blogging is dead.

Google is dead.

And the list goes on.

Sadly, there is 1% that is still alive, and that's the phony, self-serving, made-up-on-the-spot-to-prove-a-point nonsense.

Okay, here's the deal. Lately I have been noticing a lot of people saying things like all sales pages are filled with lies, or that most marketers make stuff up, or any of the other anti-selling, anti-money-making, anti-marketing filth that has been bubbling up from the ooze.

And a lot of those comments use % as a weak disguised for their dislike.

Seriously, every time I see comments like that, I wonder if the people who make those comments have even the slightest hint of where they are.

This is the WARRIOR FORUM people! Be proud. Stop slamming people for selling.

Here's a news flash - the VAST MAJORITY ARE HONEST PEOPLE!

There is nothing wrong with selling things.

I am in no position to boot anybody from the forum, and I understand there will be differing pints of view, but sometimes it's like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

We talk about things like selling, marketing and making money here. Those aren't bad things, if you don't agree with that, then don't throw a hissy fit if anybody here calls you on it. I will.

All the best,
Michael

      LOL

I was very self-aware as I was writing that rant.

But it sounds like you understand part of where I'm coming from.

You can't help people that live off of excuses... fundamentals take a very long time to stop working. The problem is that work ethic is dead; or at least endangered. If you write 1,000 articles pointing to your landing page and build a list, it would be extremely difficult to fail. But people would rather say it's 'dead' than spend the 100 hours...

the only time I let it frustrate me is when I teach someone and hear the question 'well what is the least number of articles that I could write?' which translates to 'I'm not going to do any of this; it's too much work' Very tiring methinks.

          Good point, Phillip.

Remember when ______ came along and people were jumping on the "_____ is dead" bandwagon? Well, _____ is still around, but the thing that was supposed to displace it is barely limping along.

I understand what you are saying completely but there are people here who feed that. When I see a guy with a WSO in his sig about "drive massive traffic to your site in 24 hours" starting a thread asking how to get traffic I have to say to myself why is this guy selling that? Is it legit? How many more people are doing the same? Now I take it with a pinch of salt but I am not new to the marketing game. If I were I imagine I'd be even more skeptical than I am naturally. And that doesn't seem that out there of a response really.

        That's right, jdenc.

I guess the best way for people to combat that is to purposely look for the opposite. If they do, I'd be willing to bet they will find it much easier to find honest sellers than crooked ones.

See, I'm a skeptic, too. But I'm also a self-skeptic. If I hear myself saying "most sellers are crooked", I need to take a look at that and see WHY I have that belief.

In other words, some people (not you, just in general) are only skeptics of convenience, and that, to me, is nothing more than a lazy justification to lump things together.

On another note, don't get me wrong though, I am all for doing due diligence.

  • Good points. Those in Sales should not be offended by Sales.........it is oxymoronic, don't you think? I mean, I expect it. Like your title, for example. It created attention and interest and why should I be offended that you created those two responses?

I take things with a grain of salt. I look at the overall product being pushed and see if the benefits of it.......benefit me.

Funny, you see so many commercials on TV that cost millions to produce and after they are aired, even my wife will often lean over and say, "What does that have to do with the product?"

She understands that the commercial or piece should be about not only the features of a product, but the benefits.

So, I would hope that someone's Sales Letter or post would follow that idea.

For doing so, I am not offended. Just better informed.

I think it's not only oxymoronic, but plain ol' moronic (sorry, but you throw one over the plate like that, and I have to swing at it). To be honest, I'm not even sure if some of the people making such comments here are even internet marketers. If they are, my guesss is that, for many, it is in name only, and that they have yet to generate any income from their online endeavors.

Aha! You speak a lot of truth in the final sentence. Informing people about a product and how it can benefit them is the hallmark of much good adverstising (read: effective advertising).

Chances are these types of people will fail at anything because they are not actually prepared to do the hard work required to be successful- there is no quick fix people!

When they buy the " .... is dead" product and fail at that everybody else becomes the liar or con artist because it couldn't be their fault that they failed.

The thing you have to realize is that there IS a lot of bad information out there. I do well, I'm a not a dream killer, but I'm also realistic.

Being someone that knows what works, I can tell you that a lot of products that come out are junk, or outdated, or the guys selling them don't use the techniques.

Take this recent product...some guy selling some "facebook is dead, use plenty of fish," like its something new..most big affiliates started using plenty of fish 1.5-2 years ago before they even had a self serve platform, and were running dating and already made a killing, so I have to figure, this guy is selling some technique he's already burned through, or doesn't actually do it, but heard that it worked, so he makes an info product. So, is it dead? No..but is it the new secret, not even close, and it will be very hard to break in to that now.

Or take this local marketing garbage being promoted...the local marketing buzz was 06-07...you're way late if you are doing that now. Maybe its cuz I'm on the west coast, but I have friends with small businesses that get 5 calls a week from some guy trying to sell them on some internet marketing package. Can you make some money? Yeah, sure, maybe, but you are behind the trend and its a ton of work, not some new secret.

Top affiliates and internet marketers in the real world are very much unknown. Sometimes guys will get bored and sell some info or do coaching, which is fine, but the people that have their primary income from selling to internet marketers are not the big internet marketers.

Now, I do agree, people saying, oh this doesn't work, that doesn't work, generally haven't tried hard enough. I get guys asking me why they spent $30 on clicks and didn't make a sale...its like, I have spent as much as $10k on a media buy before it was profitable. So, I do understand that point...

On the other hand though, the biggest players in the industry barely even know what all this guru, ebook stuff is and are rarely on forums and all that.

yeah makes me wonder about all this offline stuff. They go on and on about how easy it is to make big money in less than 1 houra d ay then set up coaching programs, DVd'd courses, etc about it..... Kind of a bit "defeating isn't?" I seriously wonder if most are not making anything like they dream aobut and have gone back to the "those who do do those that can't sell" mode?

    O
r take this local marketing garbage being promoted...the local marketing buzz was 06-07...you're way late if you are doing that now. Maybe its cuz I'm on the west coast, but I have friends with small businesses that get 5 calls a week from some guy trying to sell them on some internet marketing package. Can you make some money? I too heard on the radio a few weeks back a women said she gets 4+ calls a day from SEO companies offering 1st page rankings...... It's absolutely saturated now.

        LOL

Actually, that was only the "hook" and not the "meat" of what I was getting at.

What the post is really about comes after the words in bold in my original post.

That being said, I know it's nothing new, but that doesn't make it okay.

I have to disagree with the saturation thing on local marketing. I can tell you I have several good prospects I am working with that don't even have websites yet. Over 14 million businesses in this country don't have a website. The thing is you can't telemarket it very easily. Small business owners are wary and weary of that for sure. But when you sit down with them and explain it you can see the light go on. When you can show them how their competition is kicking their butt online they understand it.

For instance I am working with a 2 year old auto insurance agency. No website. No local online entry. No real internet marketing of any kind. The thing is people tend to buy auto insurance from someone close by physically. When you look at surveys of current customers by agencies you find most of them live within 5 miles of the location and in fact a large percentage are within 3. So I showed them how the auto insurance company less than a block away was very well represented online and when you searched locally they came up highly placed. I asked them to look at their own data and tell me what that meant. The light went on. They understood that meant they were not competitive with that agency. That meant they were losing money every day. I expect to close that shortly. And that's one of several. I may well be making enough money in local online marketing campaigns by the end of month that I won't have to worry about cash for a while. And I am just starting.

Saturation isn't an issue. Marketing it as if small business owners are going to give you money because you tell them to is the issue. Show them their need, show them you can take care of it and there is plenty of money out there.

I believe that's a myth, but there's more to it than that.

If multiple companies are providing a service, that's not saturation...it's competition. That's all. And there's nothing wrong with that.

        I like that Michael...

No matter HOW saturated something is - there is always room for you if you can compete and innovate.

Do something the competitors aren't doing, or do the same thing and do it better, have better customer service, have a better product, be friendlier, work with a smaller segment, etc...

There are tons of things you can do in a "saturated" niche.

The fact is, competition is a very good, healthy thing.

It forces you to be innovative, it gives the customers choices, it's the very heart of capitalism.

To be able to enter into a "saturated" niche requires courage, faith, and a mindset of abundance. Not an "i can't make it" but a "What can i DO to make it".

        Rob

And a lot of those comments use % as a weak disguised for their dislike.

Seriously, every time I see comments like that, I wonder if the people who make those comments have even the slightest hint of where they are.
I believe there are many great products around, that the sales pages don't lie (too much) and that there are a lot of honest marketeers. But you have to concede that there are tons of crap around, tons of fake products promising riches overnight sold by dishonest marketeers that just want to catch the newbies, who usually are people desperate to make some money because they have problems in offline life. They do not educate, they just want the easy money and in time all the marketeers may be considered as dishonest people, even those who are honest and sell good stuff (I think that all markets develop something like auto-regulation?)

I will.

    All the best,
    Michael
That's why is important, imho, to tell people that there are differences in the IM world. I've been reading and watching WSO for almost two years and this forum helped me to distinguish between good products and bad products, good people and bad people. Thanks to hundreds of threads and posts about crap products, dishonest marketers and errors made by people learning their way I was able to also stop spending money in stupid things, following those that have real success with real and solid business and trying to contribute to the IM community.

So I'm proud of WF, I love the discussions around new techniques to sell things and marketing goods and services and I'm happy to see more and more marketers advising newbies against the false promises out there.

    Cheers

the truth is there is so much hype on everything, Internet Marketing, names calling, product creation, everything including yourself is dead on cyber space. In the end there are only two people who take credit for all the dead things that happen and its no other than _____ and ____.

But that's not fair at all when you buy products that tell you make xxxx dollars in the next two months, you apply the same strategies and you don't get results, does that mean its the name that sold or the product itself..... ?

So just to clear up any ambiguities... I was told that Internet Marketing Forums were also dead ... is that true? Or not?

Is so, shouldn't we uh, uhm? What should we do since they said forums were dead?

Do we stop posting new threads?

Do we stop posting responses to threads?

    Do we stop posting WSOs?

Do we close out our profiles?

    Should we notify Allen Says?

Is Paul Meyers or any of the other MODs aware that Internet Marketing Forums are dead?

    This is REALLY confusing???

    Can anybody clarify this matter?

Since Internet Marketing Forums are dead, am I the only one out there?

      Seriously?

What kind of CEO are you? That memo has been circulating for months now, AND it was sent by YOUR secretary.

Besides, because forums are dead, I didn't actually quote your post because it doesn't exist. This response doesn't exist either.

BUT, that's the thing. When people ask "Is Google dead?", I go to Google to do a search - and it ALWAYS works. Article marketing is dead? Try submitting an article to EZA with a sales page in the resource box.

Also 99% of people aren't idiots, as mentioned by another poster. THAT'S the kind of "statistic" that irks me. Take note of how often those "statistics" are used to promote a NEGATIVE.

I would like to see someone say 99% of marketers are honest, 95% of scarcity claims are legitimate, and so on.

      THE OTHER ISSUE

People who make posts and then get mad if someone doesn't agree. Or, if they tell people how to answer.

Allow me to make something clear...

Telling people how to respond is just dumb. You will either make people mad and, out of spite, they will post the way you DON'T want. But, even worse, in my opinion, you will be eliminating so many great comments that could contain the answer you want.

Let people answer how they wish. And if they don't, don't throw a childish temper tantrum. It makes you look foolish, confrontational, and unprofessional. In short, not the kind of person most would be happy to help or do business with.

      Furthermore, PLEASE STOP POSTING RANTS!!!!!

      I would NEVER do that.

      All the best,
      Michael

p.s. It's a shame nobody will be able to read this due to forums being dead. Dang it!

And just so that EVERYONE is crystal clear... 99% of EVERYTHING related to Internet Marketing is DEAD!!!

      Got That? Ok, great!

      The other 1% revolves around:

(1). (Only) writing super duper great award winning originally unique content
(2). Making sure your site loads way much faster than your competition
(3). Only backlinks from sites that are 100% absolutely relevant to your site will be accepted AND the link must come naturally! (Every single solitary link will be verified!)
(4). You can only launch sites in markets and niches you have verifiable experience and/or education in, or are trained and/or certified in.
(5). You can no longer submit your sites to web directories. If the web directory finds your site and deems it worthy of inclusion, your site will be added naturally
(6). If you are going to market ANY products - they MUST be your own seeing that Affiliate Marketing is dead. God help you if you are caught marketing someone's product!
(7). You may use Web 2.0 properties. However, because they are dead, you may not include ANY reference to ANY of your web properties; meaning NO BLs.
(8). As far as Article Marketing is concerned, as you know it also is dead. Therefore, you may only submit articles IF you own the article directory AND you HAVE NOT published that article ANYWHERE else including on your own website.
(9). As you know Social bookmarking is as dead as a doorknob. Consequently, if you decide to add a bookmark, don't even think about it!

Based on all of the input we have received from the IM experts about how things have died, or is in the process of dying - these new rules will help everyone achieve success naturally; the way IM was designed.

Congratulations, according to the prophetic assessments of the experts; this is the new Internet
