Need helps choosing blog software

Hi Everyone,
I've just completed a major overhaul of my website, all that is needed now is blog software.
Up until now the site never really had any blog, there was a news module on the homepage for very small posts about competitions etc. Part of the marketing strategy now is to have a proper site blog that will include tutorials on how to use the site, music & video production techniques, software and hardware reviews, interviews with industry experts, news and updates, competitions and sponsor info etc.

Whatever software I go with, it will feed into the homepage providing links and previews for the past 3 entries. I need this to be very easy to setup and manage. I had my site built my a design team, I am not a web designer. I need something very simple to use that will allow me to post images, text, video and mp3's via flash player. Integration with social media channels such as cross publishing to facebook and twitter would be a bonus. Security and reliability is also a must, I can't afford down time from hackers and I certainly don't want my blog pulled for no good reason.

I've been recommended to go with Tumblr - does anyone have an informed opinion on this?
What other alternatives are there?

Any information and advice would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Dave

Setup a wordpress blog on your site. Tumblr would not be on your site but on there's. WP blogs are super easy to setup and manage.

    What Jericho said..

Wordpress is the easiest blog software to use, there are tonnes of plug-ins, templates, themes, support for it..

Make sure you choose a hosting company that runs Fantastico Deluxe or similar which allows GUI access to install Wordpress.. just click a button, add a couple of details & bob's your uncle..

    Good luck.

Wordpress vote here too. I can't think of a better blog platform and you need a blog hosted on your own server ... not a free blog hosted elsewhere.

I prefer to use WordPress because of it's back-end GUI (graphical user interface) is neat and tidy, and uses large fonts.

Wordpress is my first choice -

    Its easy to setup
A little learning curve - once you learn the difference between a post and page, its all good.
    Tons of plugins
    SEO friendly
    Light footprint on the server
    Built in RSS feed
    Small database
Easy to use editors - visual and html
Easy to upload and insert images
    Media library with search feature
With wordpress 3 - you have the ability to custimize tabs, and add members blogs.

From what I understand, starting in wordpress 3.0 its now easier to host members blogs. So if your running 1 blog, or 3 million, you can do it with 1 install of wordpress.
