Where to Start?

by cbondcarolina 30 replies
Hi all,

I've only been involved in IM for a few weeks now, but I'm constantly finding myself bombarded with an ocean of information that is out there. It is frustrating trying to sift my way through all of it.

One of the things that immediately comes to mind is that there are a lot of "ideas" out there. This forum, for example, provides a plethora of ways that one can enhance their internet business. It has been a valuable resource for me in trying to discern what works and what doesn't.

One of the things that I haven't found as much of is "direction". Sure, there are tons of gurus out there that try to sell you their system, but it's hard to figure out which one to choose from. How do I know that the individuals I'm aligning myself with are the real deal or just talk? Where can I go that gives me the best guidance and resources for a newbie? Is it the War Room? Or Wealthy Affiliate? Or Affilorama? Or some other service I've yet to discover? Where can I go that will give me the absolute best chance of starting off strong with IM?

What are your suggestions? Who did you go to in the beginning to get started in marketing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The reason you don't get a lot of direction is because everyone has to choose their own direction. Instead of buying one course after another and probably ending up with information overload, maybe you should just keep reading the forum and join the War Room and when you have a sense of the direction that interests you, then carefully choose a program that might help you or ask more questions here or even hire a mentor.

Hey there, I'm still a newbie a bit myself but I can let you in on how exactly I am approaching this.

Read the forum..daily..Just set aside some time to check out some of these threads.

My first investment here would be the War Room. I am heading that way soon, just waiting for some $..lol, but everything I have heard about the War Room suggests that indeed that should be the next "step". I whave taken a couple of the free technique suggestions and started to implement them. Sure they may not make the big money, but they will help finance my business during the start-up and growing phase.

Bottom line is that I believe the best chance of starting off strong is right here. You are going to have to ultimately decide what direction to go in, but the value of the knowledge and leadership here seems to me to be priceless compared to all the IM programs combined.

My vote goes with this one too.... You don't need to buy stuff from there, just use it as a training ground..... There are a lot of free trial versions on that site so you can make some hands-on training.... Hope this helps.....

      here is the site: thirtydaychallenge.com/training

Later on, you can innovate or create your own way of doing things.....just as long as you know the basics already..... goodluck

The best thing really is to pick one plan and stick to it. Experienced IMers talk about "shiny things", the idea here is that there is always a system that looks great and easier than whatever you are doing now. The risk, of course, is that you bounce from one "system" to another to another, and never really get anything done.

The first step is to answer the question "how am I going to make money?" Are you going to create a product and try to sell it, or become an affiliate, or make money from having people click on ads on your site using a service like Google AdWords? Nail this down, draw a flow chart of how you get traffic from the internet into your sales funnel and then the money to you. Next, create a Plan of Attack (POA) that takes you from step 1 to step x, step x is where you are actually paid.

It is a tough go to get going in this biz, but this forum has a lot of useful info. ClickBank also has a great help section, AssoicatePrograms com is another great site for getting started.

The only secret is to devise a plan and stick with it.

I am always happy to help out, you can find me on Twitter @RobertZuma

    Good Luck!

I think that first you need to figure out what it is you want to do. Do you want to be an affiliate? Do you want to create and sell your own products? Have you even decided on a market to tackle? Those are some questions you need to ask yourself before you do anything. There are so many ways to the IM game and I understand your overload.

One of the first things you should do is figure out a market that you want to work in. What are you good at? What interests you? Do you know of a need or a problem you can solve somewhere?

When you get that figured out, then you need to take a look at what method you are going to use to solve that problem or supply that need. Again, are you going to be an affiliate marketer-selling other peoples products? Or are you going to create your own solution to the problem or need.

Thinking about this will at least put you in the right direction.

    Hi..

I think you had an information overloaded which you still trying to find a way to get over it.

my suggestion .. if you have some money, you can go for personal coaching which you can let him/her be your mentor to guide you in your IM journey.

If do not have sufficient money, then,

1- browse this forum..you'll find a lot of informations..
    2- start take action..
3- Choose your topic and do some research.
4- start your promotion.. (Choose 1 of many ways you have learned and stick with it for some time - if its efficient then, stick with it and rinse & repeat, if not, try method no. 2)
    5. Take action..FOCUS..take action.. FOCUS

IM is a journey..not a destination.. you'll get better day to day by learn and practicing it.

    good luck..

    Have a great weekend..

    Best regards,
    Mal

    1) Start with one system...and stick at it for 30 to 90 days. Do not buy any other products. Focus! I suggest Commission Blueprint 2, Wealthy Affiliate, or Affiliorama. Pick one!

    2) Subscribe to no more than 3 emails from other Internet marketers.

If there's only one email newsletter you have to join to learn about building a real online business, I suggest earlytorise.com -- once you join this newsletter, all other IM emails will seem like a joke.

Don't buy all these upcoming latest and greatest...dont' subscribe to all these emails just because they're giving you a free ebook worth $97.

    Hi
I think that almost everyone here has given you very sound advice,
research first, this forum contains some really fantastic information and advice.

Pick your route and stick with it, form a solid knowledge base, I'd advise learning the Internet Marketing niche first before potentially moving to another niche as it'll give you all the skills necessary to use in other forms of busineses and niches.

If you have the funds then maybe consider a mentor - but do some homework on him/her first - ask questions from the chosen mentors students (i.e. get references) before commiting your hard earned cash.

But most of all enjoy it and have fun.

    Good luck.

I'm also new, followed 30DC and made some results. I'm just close to 2 months in this. I'd recommend the 30DC to get started.

I am learning from having information diet, choosing carefully and have a limit in taking in the amount of information because too much can be exhausting and confusing. A good way is being moderate and going at your pace, testing and improving techniques. Through that way, I think you will find a mixture of different ways that work for you, like creating your own style.

    Good luck!

Find something that you feel is going to motivate you and stick with it. Implement whatever it is you are learning. Nothing happens if you don't do anything with what you have. Whether it's seo, article marketing or whatever, you need to follow through.

Personally I'd get Wealthy Affiliate for the in depth training, and then the War Room so you can see the ''Bigger Picture'' and thus implements it with the skills learned at WA.

I agree that building a list is Key...but you also need to take the time to get to know your list, provide them with valuable information and knowledge, show yourself as someone who is worth listening too.

I know many successful IM's who have had staggering results with relatively small lists.

Just a quick note, while I COMPLETELY agree with picking a single product or system and putting all your focus on that (affiloblueprint is a good starter choice if affiliate marketing is your thing)...

I STRONGLY disagree with all those telling you to read the forums. Right now forums are going to hold you back. They are a major distraction when you are still trying to find your way or gain some focus.

It's way to easy to get sucked in to something that sounds like a "better" idea then what you're currently doing due to the stuff people post on forums.

Another downside to forums is there is a lot of parroting and misinformation that most newer folks won't be able to filter out.

So a quick recap, pick a system - follow it daily - learn and gain momentum - stay away from forums and don't check you work...

Much love & all the best,
    Daniel D.
