For those advertising on facebook

Hey everyone,

I've been launching a few ppc campaigns on Adwords and Stumbleupon for a new website I have up. For those of you advertising on Facebook via ppc, do you find better results paying for impression or clicks?

Thanks in advance.

My results are better with clicks vs. impressions!! WAY better! I learned the hard way and wasted money by using impressions. I'd test out both for your market, but clicks were better for me!

In the past and currently, CPM has been the way to go for me, as long as you get a good ad copy and target properly this is normally the best.. however Facebook is going through mass changes so this may change soon

It's way less risky. ANd then when you know what demographic works, cpm clicks are 30 -60 % cheaper.

Also, once you get above a .08 ctr with more than 20k impressions slowly lower your bid.

Then split test again. Or just use ad uploader.

Also, if you're using p202 do this. Assign each different ad copy a 4 digit number to the end of the name of your ad, do this at the end of your p202 link as well, in the destination url area. Then you can see exactly the roi of each ad! Youll thank me later.

I've always used cpm. I actually first test ads via cpc at first though, and then once I find some winners, move them over to cpm to start really profiting.

I just burned through a few hundred thousand impressions in a day only to end up paying the equivalent of $6.80 per click for the 3 visitors the campaign produced.

For me, the only way to go on facebook ads is with PPC, as you can truly control and quantify your lead generation

if anyone has actual examples (that they can share in detail) on getting better ROI by using CPM then I'd love to hear it. So many people boast that they're killing it with facebook ads, and the traffic is so cheap, yet IMHO the best channel is still adwords. happy to be proven wrong tho

behnk01, good advice. I was advertising for a micro niche, and FB doesn't provide me the same granular control to drill down like adwords does.

a bit more detail would be great. You say research my audience, exactly how are you doing market research on FB with your prospects?? I've been in this particular niche for 2 years, so I understand my audience... but whether or not they are on FB is a different matter. Again, details and explanations would be helpful

My vote goes to clicks. Try to test it first.....after that....change your method that suites to your liking.

    Thanks in advance.
What kind of product are you promoting?

Depending on what it is, Facebook in itself can be worthless ...

I saw Vince was selling a few grand worth of the solar energy ebook on facebook per week.

the site is just a collection of people, there's no limit to what you can sell on facebook so my advice is try it out before listening to just anything you read here
