If I had to register a guess, most would probably have skewed reviews, so as to collect a higher commission from higher priced eBooks. (i.e. promoting a book, and saying it is great, just to earn a commission...)

This is THE number one problem with most reviews on the internet that feature affiliate links. In fact, I can't even take reviews serious if they are presellng something, no matter how accurate the review may be.

I started a review site once but I only wanted to review the greatest products and software available (didn't want to even expose the trash). As such, my reviews looked phony because every single one of them was glowing - but rightly so.

If I were you I'd check the product review section here and search the forum for the the product name. Sure you'll get plenty of feedback like that.

There was an eBook that I had come across once. It was roughly 20 pages, and sold for $25 (hey, it's not necessarily the QUANTITY of words, but the value of those words that means the most, right? errr...that's another thread entirely....)

The person gave a very hefty commission on each sale, which caused people who blogged about it to turn a blind eye to the true quality of the product. Amidst a plethora of great reviews, I found one that truly broke down the product....a long, comprehensive series of articles detailing all its flaws....and, how people were crazy to give it such great reviews.

If I were doing the review, however, I'd be more concerned with the tarnished reputation from my readers, rather than the short-term affiliate commission profits that would come from promoting a high commission product. Nothing is worth loosing respect and credibility amongst your readers. JMHO.

Yes - you are probably right. How many hoops do you have do jump through to get an ebook on Amazon. Is is tough?
