Experienced Affiliates, please help in my attempt at mini sites?

I want to try something different that I have not yet done, which is creating affiliate sites or blogs solely to promote other people's products. I promote products on my main site, but would like to venture out into other niches using min sites (or blogs), using more targeted sites, try finding the "right" product, keyword research, testing sales or opt-in page, etc.

So - for anyone who is experienced in this - Do you have multiple sites in various niches or are the niches all related? How long does it generally take you to put a campaign together for an affiliate product? Like, how long to choose a product, do kw research, then how long do you take to build traffic? Are you building traffic while split-testing or do you build traffic first then split test? And do you ever consider a site "done?" Like, when do you go on to try another site?

Sorry if I sound like an excited kid in a candy store, there is just so much to put together and I have wanted to try this for some time. I have researched the forum and found many ideas on how people do this - but have not found a post that tells me how long to expect to work on the various aspects of a site like this.

Thank you.
Cindy P.

    Hi Cindy,

Just to get your feet wet and to save the most time, how about trying to find similar products in your niche that relate to the one you already promote. If you have a list of leads already, you can send a quick email out to them and many of them will purchase whatever you're promoting. Once you gain your confidence and are able to tweak things more efficiently, you can venture out into other niches.

    Hope that helps,
    Piyush

What I do is take a look at offers available in my affiliate networks. Something that I think has a good sales page and would get decent conversions.

Then I try to find keywords that have decent searches and low competition. Once I do that I try to get an exact name match for the domain.

I then have 3-4 articles written targeting only that keyword throw it up on a nice WP theme blog and optimize the heck out of it for the keyword.

In the articles I try to get them interested in checking out the product.

Once it's all setup I start backlinking and pray for page 1. Some end up there others don't.

I believe it's similar to google sniper but I can't say for sure because I've never actually read their material.

Some sites can rank really fast and be on the first page in a couple of weeks. Others can be hopeless and I don't waste too much time on them. I just plug them into my backlinking services I use and check them every so often.

Thanks, Jericho, exactly what I was looking for. Can you give me an idea of how much time you spend on the research part? Or the time length of your process?

I have too many blogs ... in many niches. I normally do the keyword research, find the products/affiliate programs to use, launch the blog, do some backlinking and social bookmarking and some article marketing ... maybe do a Hubpages and then move on to the next niche. If I'm doing quick minisites that are targeting one particular product, say an Amazon product, this whole thing takes about a day. A blog usually takes me a little more time ... more articles to do.

Awesome reply, sbucciarel, quick and to the point - just how I like it. The 1 day turn around sounds like a goal I want to strive for, was not sure if that was possible, so thank you for that!

I don't normally hype info products or even buy them for that matter, but I learned a lot from IPK (Info Product Killer) in regards to just this type of minisite marketing.

I wish I could thank you repeatedly for this one. I just got it today after it re-opened and so far it's pretty amazing - seems to be an all-in-one package. Hopefully I can follow instructions well enough to make money with it!
