Hey. What is the best way to get more views on a youtube video and get the search ranking higher on youtube for a certain keyword?

    Keyword in the title.

Your title should be constructed the same way you would for an article or blog post that is highlighting a certain keyword or keyword phrase.

    Your description.

Without writing a full length novel, you want to include as much information about the video that is needed to describe it to someone who has not seen it yet.

    Tags.

You might be tempted to put a long list of things in here just for the sake of covering your bases but don’t. The more focused your tags are to the actual content of the video the better. Just like web pages, videos with a more relevant tag get better results in listings.

    Get Ratings.

These are those little stars found at the bottom left and YouTube gives weight to this rating system. The only real power you have to influence this system is to have quality content.

    Get Comments.

Like the Ratings, there is weight given to the amount of activity in the Comments section below. Ask your visitors what they think and encourage them to comment.

Good and bad remarks are seen the same in the eyes of YouTube so don’t be so quick to delete those that might hurt your feelings.

There is a similar thread to this one above you now but I've copied and pasted my response for your convenience.

A few very simple things you can do to increase your views is:

      1) Take the tags of a similar video that has a lot of views and use them on your video. This could possibly make your video a related video to the one with a lot of views. Views will definitely seep on to your video.

      2) Post your video as a video response to other videos with a lot of views. This will also cause some traffic to seep over to your video.

      3) I personally haven't done this but I have heard of people backlinking their videos in order for the youtube video to come up on the google search results when someone searches for a given term.

Using Tags is the most important thing when it comes to getting Youtube views. I usually generate a whole essay of keywords to copy and paste into my tags, usually 50-60. Sharing with friends and family through Facebook is another great upside!

Yes, there are a lot of social bookmarking sites that have video submissions.

Yes, I think it does matter of the video has more backlinks. The number of backlinks helps search engines determine how popular pages are.

The other 2 tips in the list given are gems, but if your video doesn't offer much value content-wise and is just meant to promote your site, I suggest staying away from the method quoted above as it is quite antiquated.

YouTube has changed its permissions, and by default, a video response has to be approved by the original video's owner before it can be published in the comments' portion. Posting a blatantly advertorial video as a video response will piss off the original video's owner, most of the time at least, and the chances are high that he'll report your video as spam.

In less than an hour, your video will be taken off without even giving you the opportunity to defend yourself. Due process isn't observed in YouTube, it seems, lol.
