Do you know how much time you're wasting...?

...browsing forums, websites and blogs every day?

We all know how it is - it's so much easier to click to your favourite site and have a browse for the latest posts than to get stuck into work. Then it's time for another coffee, then time to click back to our favourite site for another quick fix. Then it's lunch time...

What a waste of time - and it means you're getting less work done. A lot less.

Here's a tip.

For one day (with lunch and a couple of short beaks), just forget all the frivolity and do a solid day's work on the stuff you know you should be doing but haven't been doing.

You'll be amazed and delighted at how much you get through and it will give you incentive to continue with it.

Try it - it works!

    You're right, I spend much time at forums and other related websites. I think I learn a lot from it but of course you have to work as well. Just reading won't get you any money

      Great advice! I tend to wonder, especially on this forum! I sat down tonight to read one thread and I've been in my chair for 3 hours!

      Someone needs to invent the 40 hour day.. just not enough time for work (my day job) and internet marketing sites.

    Very true, we spend a lot of time procrastinating; a lot of this is down to looking for something a little easier, or wanting something that will give results right away.

    The reality is ready gives you knowledge, implementing methods and strategy gives you experience and makes you money which is really your main goal IMO.

      It IS a waste of time. What you online business needs is action and planning, not random browsing/learning.

    Actually I don't know! But I spend more time on forums. Then we can learn something and start a method to increase the profit. That's enough for me. Thanks for discussing these things. Then we will not waste time for useless things.

    But I must say, it's starting to do my head in. I can't help myself. I get PM's (work) all the time, so I visit the forum and before you know it the bright lights have distracted me.

    Good advice. I'm going to have to cut back on this addiction.

    Thank you, this is awesome, i have not really done anything tangible for the past two months. have being visiting forums, studying this or that. this has really waken me up. one has to do list of what to do else, nothing tangible will be achieved.

    Hey Neil,

    spot on! I've been losing a lot of time by reading forums and wondering off while 'doing research'. Though I have almost met my deadlines till now. So nothing to worry about.

    If you don't meet deadlines and/or not making a nice profit - then you should force yourself to work. My 'trick' is to go somewhere without a connection to the internet, to produce the content I have to. Then when I have access to the internet again, I quickly upload it. Then get back to producing content.

    The real reason that people waste time is that they don't perceive what they are doing as fun. If you can change your mindset about your daily tasks and make them fun in some way you will be eager to do them.

    Now you can't make them all fun but the more you can make enjoyable the more productive you will become. I know that it's easier said than done but if you work on it the benefits are tremendous.

      That's very true, I find I spend a lot of time browsing forums and reading posts myself.

      What's even worse is that most of the time I am not even participating in the discussions making it even more waste of time.

        I think this hits the nail on the head so to speak, and I am guilty of it as well. Browsing the forums are not necessarily a waste of time, if you are participating in the discussions.

        You can build up your online brand and credibility by providing valuable insights to other members of the forum.

        I would not say that I am always "wasting" my time with forums, but I can surely see what the OP is talking about.

    I wasn't specifically refering to marketing forums. Of course there's something to be said for spending some time on learning.

    I was really meaning any activity that gets you up to lunch time without doing any productive work.
