Putting HTML icons in newsletter e-mails?

I am working on a newsletter and I want to put icons on the side for ways to keep in contact with me. Such as put a Twitter picture linked to my Twitter profile, a Facebook one linked to my Facebook page, one for Stumble Upon, etc. I am using Aweber e-mail marketing software.

I am running into a few problems. What's the best process for doing this? I am trying to create the html for it by putting my my into Tiny Pic but the picture just isn't showing up. If you need an example, I can send you my newsletter template. Thanks so much!

By default most email providers have HTML turned off because of all the shady things done in the past. Although what you are attempting to do is a great idea it may not get through for a lot of people. You may be better off leaving a link at the bottom to your twitter, facebook or other contact information. Also if your list is not double opted in and you use HTML it is more likely to get thrown in the spam box as well in my experience.

    All the best

I agree with Irnes. I think it's best to stick with plain text emails. Everybody can open them and they look less "spammy" to most email programs. If you want a nicer looking newsletter, another option is to use plain text emails to announce the new issue of your newsletter, and maybe put in a few teasers about the content to get people interested in reading it. Then, create a nice looking PDF newsletter that people can dowload. It's fairly easy to put links in the PDF that your subscribers could click to keep connected with you.

      Robin,

I'm siding with the text e-mail gang here. Even with AWeber auto-responder service, I use text-only followups and broadcast e-mails.

Is this what you should do? Ahh... maybe not! This is something for you to think about. Then maybe try it, test it, and see what works best with your prospects.

Please do let us know what you do and how it works out for you.
