hi everyone

Thank you to all of those who helped me in choosing my first niche!
i've decided on writing an ebook about health and food healing....and i am half way there....its taking alot longer then i had expected but i am enjoying it and learning alot on the way.

i would like to hear some of your experiences about when you first started selling your first ebook online....and how much success + in what amount of time?....and the best way of selling my first ebook when i have finished writing it.

....i feel very positive about making money online but am having one of those hard weeks where you think to your self.....is all of this hard work and time spent going to pay of soon?.....especially when people around you have no understanding of what you are doing.....and when you can't give it a time on 'when' you will actually start making money.....

would really be greatful to hear some of your experiences.....

kind regards

lynn

    lynn,

Do you have any particular "avenues" established to promote you book? A presence on a forum? Alot of posts/pull/presence somewhere online or offline?

I may be able to help here....

Well I can tell you that you are getting a great start by joining Chris's website. Heck, I'm full-time in IM and still learning a ton from that guy!

What these guys/gals above you are saying is correct, in the sense that people are likely not just going to visit your clickbank page and purchase your product the first time they see it. In theory it sounds great, but it typically does not happen that easily.

I would say BUILD A LIST. If you are a member of Chris Farrell's site, then you know how much he advocates this. I think that you should "leak a chapter" in order to get people to opt-in to your list. It requires no extra content creation on your part, and gives people a great reason to opt-in to your list.

I think that would be a great plan of action.

    Hi Lynn,

I think you definately need some sort of presence online before people will by from you. Do you have a blog? are you active in forums for your niche?

I am going to suggest something you might not want to do

I think you should write your ebook. The best ebook you can write. Get all the graphics done by a pro so that it looks great.

Then Give it away for FREE, I know how can you make money if you give it away for free.
Well if you give it to people for Free but they have to give you their first name and email address, then you will build up your mailing list and we all know the money is in the list Right?
Then use email marketing to sell other products in the same niche, your own products or as an affiliate.

You could also have the ebook made into audio format and when someone downloads the Free ebook try upsell the audio version.

Either way I think if you give people great value for Free and they join your mailing list they will be more likely to buy from you in the future

Use your ebook to build your mailing list.

    Hope this helps

I don't think that you need to give it away for free. Rather, you might want to create a free email series that's relevant to your book. If it's good, people will want more and may buy your book.

In the meantime, post on forums forums that are relevant to the book and do some article marketing. By getting your name out there and presenting yourself as an expert, you can make money with the book, even if it's not immediate.

    Hi Lynn,

I am sorry if I have to join the peeps here but really, you need a presence in a particular niche to be able to send something to them.

But you may wonder what do we mean by presence. Well this can be one of the following:
    * A forum account with lots of posts
    * A huge Twitter follower base or a Facebook fan page with lots of fans
    * An email list

If you do not have an immediate market you can tap, then you may find that things will be harder. Of course, you can also try by just hitting some keywords and getting yourself in front of the search engines but that will not mean a thing if you cannot build a relationship with people.

You have to face the truth that a lot of people buy based on trust and you have to build that trust if you want a lot of people to buy from you. Makes sense?

    Hello,

And keep on doing what you are doing! I enjoy writing myself. It is important to build a list. Giving away a free eBook is a great start to building that list.
