are turnkey websites worth investing into?

I have found a site selling turnkey websites on different niches providing different income streams (Google Adsense, Clickbank products, Kontera, banners and advertisement sales) for the buyer.

Other features include a blog system, a built-in newsletter, news feeds, and integration of Google Analytics and sitemap.

I know a site needs traffic to be able to earn money. I know promoting a site demands hard, persistent work.

But even assuming that one puts in the necessary investment in money, time and effort to promote and market turnkey websites, do they have potential to generate revenue? Are they search engine-friendly?

I am asking these questions because I read somewhere that turnkey websites are not just worth investing money, time and hard work per se.

What are your thoughts?

There's always going to be negative information about ALL potential income streams. You just gotta do it and see for yourself (given the time/money you invest won't cripple you if you happen to fail).

This kind of system can save you a lot of time and the steep learning curve required for web site development.

However, it is still just a website, and it will all depend on how much effort you put into promotion.

    Good luck!

It is all about how well you promote. Turnkey sites that have good seo'ed pages would work quite well. Again, it depends on where, and, how you plan to advertise and market your site.

This all depends upon who built the turnkey websites. Yes the developer does matter a great deal more than you know as well as proper built scripts that are secured.

Any old turnkey sites such as http://www.dotcombuilder.com or http://www.prozilla.com which both have been around for years and both have used the same free open source base code to build the sites are NOT worth the money. The scripts are not secure, they lack a great deal of funtions, amoung many other things.

If you want true turnkey websites that are unique to you, then hire a developer to build those specific and unique sites for you .. This way you make sure nobody else has them and when you sell them you are assured they are 100% unique to anything out there...

Does this cost money ? Well sure no developer works for free.. That is why you start off with 3 or 4 sites and build your business as you make sales. When you make sales re-invest 75% of those profits back into the business by building more sites.

I have built true turnkey websites in the past and have had great success with them.

    Just my opinion..

Personally I develop turnkey sites and flip them for profit and this has been very lucrative.

It depends on the angle you are looking at it. Turnkey sites with great niches and contents are highly lucrative and have a high ROI.

Provided that they're built on a decent platform, it's what you do with a turnkey site that counts, not what it is when you buy it. I have seen some awful turnkey scripts that you just couldn't put any work into because there was no easy way (particularly for a 'newbie') to add further content or integrate other features. The only non-WordPress based turnkey site I've seen that ever had any real potential for growth used so much bandwith on a client's account it was unbelievable, even with little added. It wasn't as if it was capable of much even then.

Yes, I'm a fan of WordPress based turnkey sites. There's no real limit to their potential. I know that poor old WordPress open source code has it's detractors, but if you look at sites like John Chow's, Courtney Tuttle's, Yaro Starak's and a whole heap of other marketers who are doing very nicely thank you (and that's just in the competitive IM niche), all that's underneath them is what's under every WordPress based turnkey site out there.

You've just got to know what to do with them and put the time into doing it. Without any know-how or desire to work at it, you're sunk, and in that respect custom-built sites are no different.

  • Sure, you can make money with these sites.

You can even build a steady flow of traffic to them and then flip them for 10 or 20 times what you paid.

Most turnkey websites are not very search engine friendly but there are more ways of getting traffic than just the search engines.

If you have a solid traffic strategy in place then you can make money with these sites.

How much money depends on (1) how much traffic you bring to the site, (2) the quality of the traffic and (3) the income streams you have in place on the site.

This depends upon who builds the site .. When I say True Turnkey Websites, I am talking 100% unique custom built sites. Not some free open source code stuff.

By having True Turnkey Websites you will be setting yourself way above the others that are using free open source. You will also be increasing your potential profit by 1000% ..

You would be surprised to know how many people that actually want unique websites. To answer anyone that may be thinking this .. "Yes, turnkey websites can be unique, again depends upon who is doing the building of that site".

Agreed, also be quite certain about what you are buying.

Make sure it is not a "cloned" site, or even an I-frame of another site.

A lot of that going around.

Turnkey websites are ideal for jump-starting your online presence. Nevertheless, it's just putting the tool or weapon available to you. You still need the ammunition and your marketing effort to promote in order to see results. It sure takes hard work and some time but persistence and perseverence should get you there.

It took me almost eight months when I first started out to see a ROI. Just refused to give up easily and push on.

There are also turnkey sites that comes with digital products with resell rights instead of relying on Adsense and other similar ads with a hope of generating some income. Nothing like having your own or some resell products to promote with your turnkey site.

    wishing you success

I will buy turnkey websites if it is unique or only few people knows about it.
